Her name is Diline Silva, she is the daughter of Senator and Mrs. Joseph Silva. Diline had all she ever needed because she was the apple of her mother’s eyes since she had no other children. She was a graduate of one of the most prestigious universities in the country where she studied Business Administration. To everyone who knew Diline she was a beauty. She is of average height, a chocolate skin, full and long dark hair, lovely lips and curves any curvy woman could get and others wish for.



Men looked at her twice and this was why her father’s house was never empty of suitors from far and near, rich and poor. It was rumored she dated the vice president’s son once. She managed one of her father’s companies and rode one of the latest cars. At 22, she could be described as successful. This was how her life was until tragedy struck her perfect life and lovely family.





“Mom, mom where are you?”
Diline called from the kitchen.

“I am in the sitting room honey.”



Her mother replied. She was a plump woman in her mid forties, she was fair and very beautiful. She was watching the evening news on the television, she shunned her daughter’s calls and concentrated in the news. As the wife of a very successful and prominent politician, it was her duty to know the things going on in the country. Suddenly she screamed.

“No, no, this can’t be happening Jesus Christ.”

Diline rushed to the sitting room.


“Mother, what’s wrong? What happened please talk to me?”

The sound of the news faded into the background as her mother struggled to gain composure.




After a few minutes, she got back her voice.
“Your father’s friends, Senator Williams and Senator Roberts have been assassinated this afternoon. The last time I spoke to your father this evening, he said he was going to meet them at their usual spot and as I heard the news I tried calling his number but he wouldn’t pick up. Diline I hope your father has not killed me.”


Diline was confused, her whole body began to shake, she signed heavily and tried to compose herself for her mother’s sake. Finally, she tried a smile.


“Come on mother you should know that father is not that careless, he would not get killed that easily. Moreover, it might be an attack on both of them only please don’t panic.”
Her mother disagreed.


“No Diline he has been acting strange lately and has been so restless, I hope they have not done something wrong that warranted this.”



Diline forced herself up and tried telling her mind that all was well. She helped her mother to a cushion sofa and instructed a maid to bring a carton of milk. After reassuring herself, she went on to reassure her mother and made her sleep off while she waited agitatedly for her father.
Finally after a few hours she slept off herself.



She was woken by the sound of her father’s car and she heaved a sigh of relief on seeing him.
She rushed to him and hugged him affectionately. Senator Silva was a well built man in his fifties, he hugged his daughter and kissed her forehead.





“I am so sorry sweetie, I know you and your mother would have been scared, where is she?”
Diline smiled.



“She was worried but she is okay, she is in the bedroom.”





She followed her father as he made his way to their bedroom. He sighed and woke up his wife who began to cry on seeing him. She hit him softly as she cried.


“You stupid man, you almost killed me.”
He allowed her for a while before hugging her tight. After her cries subsided he held her close and kissed her passionately. Diline smiled and left the room. Ever since she was old enough she knew her father had always loved her mother dearly and the same she could say of her mother so she was not surprised that they always acted like young couple that had just fallen in love. She longed for a day when her man would treat her the same way.


After a couple of hours, they both came down to the sitting room. Her mother was looking less worried and her father was smiling at her.

“Come here sweetie.”
She went to him and sat on his laps. He played with her hair for a while

“My angel, it was just like yesterday when the doctor placed you in my arms, even though I don’t have a son or more children you are more than ten sons to me and I do not regret having you because you have made me proud.”



Diline smiled satisfactorily. Her father paused and continued.


“I only hope that you bring home a good man to marry. I have to tell you about today.

My friends that died were involved in a deadly deal and this deal caused them their lives but I have to hide for a while if I don’t want to attract attention. Don’t get me wrong, I am not in on this deal but people have known us together so I have to lay low for a while, with you and your mother of course, the vice president has offered us protection at a good safe house so please pack a few things because we will leave home for a while.”



She looked worriedly at her mother who reassured her with a nod and a smile.


She nodded at her father and ran to her room.
