The week went well for Anu. Her work had been tedious but she’s getting used to it already. She has always been punctual and also relates well with the customers. Mama Ramo will always compliment her for her zealousness towards work. She made some friends among the customers who usually tip her. Fortuned had finally smiled on her as she takes nothing less than #2000 home just after three days she started work.

Anu hadn’t gotten the time to speak with Baba but she was sure things have really changed for Baba as well. They’ve been eating well for now, and he even gives her #500 for her transportation to and from work. Baba has even enrolled Segun in a computer school along Ikotun road.

She planned on speaking to her father over the weekend, probably on Sunday evening since Iya Ramo doesn’t open shop on Sunday.

Fast forward to Sunday morning, she went to church with her family. She prayed and praised God like never before. Could it be as a result of the new dress she bought, well may be yes. Even her church members noticed the changes in her as her skin glows more and she smells better as she has gotten a better cream and perfume for herself.

Back at home in the evening, Anu asked Segun, her brother to excuse them as she have something important to discuss with baba.

‘Baba mi, do you know you are actually looking more handsome now? Eehn I really thank God for us now and for the good job you now have, but you are yet to let me know where you now work o’ Anu said immediately she noticed Segun had walked farther from the house.

‘ can you please hold on, I have something for you’ Baba said and immediately stood up and left for his room.

‘ I just pray he talks o’ Anu said to herself.

Baba returned with a nylon and handed it over to Anu.

‘what’s this daddy?’ she asked

‘ why not open it and check for yourself’ Baba replied.

‘That’s for you, my beautiful daughter’ Baba continued as Anu brought out the gift.

Baba just gave Anu her first new phone in life, Techno phone.

She felt like flying over the moon. She knelt immediately and begin to thank baba and pray for him as well.

‘thank you Daddy, thank you so much. You are the best daddy and I’ll forever love you…’ she kept on saying repetitively.

‘ can we continue with the conversation we were having before I gave you the phone?’ Baba asked with a smile.

‘yes yes, I almost forgot sha.’ she said laughing as and later continued with seriousness

‘ I think is necessary you open up to me where you work daddy, cos I won’t lie that I’m not scared. I am really scared and hoping you are not doing anything bad since you refused to talk about it. Please daddy, what are you into? She said ending with question.

‘you can put your mind at rest cos I’m not into anything bad. I have been a responsible man who would rather till the ground than do anything illegal. I love you and your brother and will do everything morally and legally right just to make you live a good life. Every decisions I made and will be making will be solely for the good of you and your brother. I…..’ Baba was saying

‘ Daddy, I understand everything but tell me what you are involved in.’ Anu interrupted.

‘I’m getting married’ he spilled it almost inaudibly

‘Ehn, what did you say’ Anu asked pretending she didn’t hear well and hoping he will say he was joking or something.

‘ I am getting married, it’s seems this is the only way we are to experience our financial breakthrough’ he said clearly.

‘With all due respect, what has marriage got to do with what we are talking about? ‘ Anu asked impatiently

‘ All the money I have been bringing home is from my wife to be. She has gotten a workshop for me already where I will practice carpentry big time. She’s ready to sponsor you and your brother’s education if I marry her. I can body say I have #500,000 in my account now. This and many more she has done for me in less than a week of reuniting with her..’ Femi, Anu’s father narrated to her daughter.

Anu’s mouth was agaped as she kept staring at her father. Now, it’s her father’s turn to ask her to talk.

‘hmmmmm, are you really prepared to share your love for us with Mrs money bag? She uttered.

‘Please, don’t refer to like that, her name is Cynthia. I’m still young and I would have entered a relationship since when your mother left me if not for money constraint. I’m just 45, and I can’t just end my life lonely forever whereas your mother is wherever she is enjoying her life. I just want you to understand me and I will never share the love I have for you with her because I will be loving her differently’ baba said trying to conceal his anger as he remembered Abike their mother.

‘ I’m sorry for not taking this as expected daddy, I’m only concerned about you. Sorry I made you open an old wound but daddy…’ she said looking at her father to be sure she’s getting his full attention.

‘DO YOU LOVE THIS WOMAN, MRS CYNTHIA? Anu asked without taking her eyes off her father.
