Luan handed me the wrapper and waited outside while I went to my bedroom to tie the wrapper on. The idea of me trying on this native attire tickled my curiosity to see what I would look like. It’s not something new to me cause from where I come Men put on skirts and sometimes tie robes around their bodies ; it’s our custom and tradition.

After I got to my room, I stood in front of the mirror and removed the dress I had on me and tied the wrapper around me. I observed myself after my first attempt and saw that it was a little bit tight, so I had to loosened the wrapper and tie it again. It took about 10 tries before I could finally tie the damn thing perfectly around my waist, everything was smooth, straight and divine. Just when I thought I was done with part, I realized I had to put something to cover the upper part of my body and it meant that I had to go through my wardrobe again to look for the perfect top to go with the wrapper. Oh brother. I just hope Luan isn’t annoyed by my lateness besides I had to hurry cause the time for the festival was getting close.

Tonight’s going to be a special night cause everyone has made plans for tonight’s festival but nobody’s going to have a good time like the way I’m going to cause I’m going to have the luscious Elizabeth all to myself.

I couldn’t think of a better night to spend with her than this one, not only is there going to be music, dance and food but also lovers and couples get to come out and enjoy themselves under the bright moon light. Many matrimonies of past was a result of this dance festival cause most couples met during this night and entwined their destinies.

After standing and waiting for Elizabeth’s return, I brought out my pocket watch to check the time and I realized 15 minuted have passed since she went into her room. I never understand why women take so long when they’re dressing ; everything about them is complicated.

In that moment while I was still waiting, I caught a glimpse of Jeremiah in an old jalopy, which he parked in front of the farm house. I quickly approached him and asked about his motives for showing up here uninvited.

Jeremiah Luan! Look at you. Nice boots.

Luan What are you doing here?

Jeremiah I’m here to pick you up. Sara’s waiting for you. Tonight is going to be thrilling.

Luan Listen Jeremiah! Just go. I’m going to the festival with someone else.

Jeremiah Elizabeth eh?

Luan Don’t call out her name so loud!

Jeremiah She won’t hear me. We’re far from the house.

Luan Just go!

Jeremiah I’ll go when I want to. Besides I have a little something for you.
