(At Nathan’s office)

Nathan was going through some business documents when he heard an impatient knock on his office door.

“Yes, please come in” He responded focusing his gaze on the door.

And with force, the door swung open and Daniella rushed in panting helplessly like she was being chased by someone.

Seeing her, Nathan immediately stood up from his seat and walked up to her.

“Sweetheart, what’s going on? Why are you panting?” He asked holding her hand and rubbing her back.

“That’s because I ran all the way here,” Daniella said panting and smiling helplessly.

“But why would you run? What’s going on?” Nathan asked slightly tugging a log of hair that was covering her face to the back of her ear.

“Because I have good news to share with you. Guess what!” Daniella impatiently said still trying to catch her breath.

“I’m sorry Sweetheart. I’m not actually good at guessing and you know that. So please, can you stop keeping me in suspense and tell me what it is already?” Nathan said.

“Okay, I went to the hospital to run some medical checkups due to the feverish symptoms that I’ve been experiencing lately. And guess what? After running a general test on me, the doctor confirmed me pregnant!” Daniella excitedly announced.

Hearing this news, Nathan didn’t know whether to feel elated or jealous. He stood there staring at nothing in particular as if his soul had left his body.

It took the voice of Daniella to finally snap him back to his senses.

“Babe? Are you okay?” She asked tapping his cheek.

“Huh?” Nathan asked staring confusedly at her.

“What’s going on? You look lost. Don’t you feel happy about the pregnancy?” Daniella asked staring curiously at him.

Then wearing a reluctant smile, Nathan held her hands and said,

“Of course not honey. I’m so excited right now. In fact, my excitement knows no bounds as we speak” He said slightly squeezing her hands.

“But your facial expression says otherwise. Why is it so?” Daniella asked.

“It’s just that, for the past five years I’ve been impatiently longing and waiting to hear such good news. But it’s weird that hearing it now, suddenly feels surreal and untrue. Like I’m dreaming” Nathan said.

Hearing this, Daniella smiled and cupped Nathan’s cheeks in her palms.

“I totally understand how you feel. Because I felt the same way when the doctor broke the news to me” She said.

Then reaching for his hands, she placed both of his palms on her stomach. Then smiling brightly at him, she said,

“Sweetheart. It’s real. We are truly having a baby”

And with a reluctant smile, Nathan pulled her into an embrace.
