” Alright baby, hand over my daughter to me.”

Garrett was standing just inside the room. His mouth was fixed in a stiff little smile, and the gun in his hand looked as big as a cannon.

” Leave us alone, Garrett,” Scarlett said curtly. ” She doesn’t belongs to you.”

” I got no interest in you, bítch,” he snapped. ” I’m here for my daughter. She comes with me.”

Daisy stared at her mother then at Garrett. ” Mom, who’s this?”

” He’s nobody,” Scarlett said, pushing her away further into the room. ” Stand back.”

Garrett stepped fully into the room, shutting the door with the back of his legs. His eyes were firm and threatening.

” Don’t listen to her, child,” Garrett snapped at Daisy. ” You’re my daughter. I’m your long lost dad.”

” That’s a bloody lie!” Scarlett screamed. ” He ain’t your dad. Your dad died years ago.”

Daisy couldn’t speak. She could only stare at Garrett. She had stood before her mirror for years to see the resemblance between Garrett and herself.

Garrett glared down at Scarlett. ” Now don’t let there be any trouble, Scarlett,” he hissed. ” I know what this gun’s for.”

Scarlett was Soo scared, her skin stood stiff against her face but her anger drenched her fears. ” You don’t deserve her, Garrett. Why want her now after all these years, huh?”

” She’s my blood, sugar,” he said. ” I’ve been thinking recently, what good is all these money I’m making if I got no one to enjoy it with me. Money got me everything I need except a child. While in jail, I got tested with azoospermia. I got no sperm in my semen which means I can’t bear children. That’s why I’m here. I’m taking care of my blood, baby. She comes with me, now.”

” She goes no where!” Scarlett yelled at him. ” Where the fúck were you when we needed you the most.”

” Was at jail,” Garrett smirked. ” You expect me to take care of my child from jail?”

” And is jail supposed to the place a responsible father should be?” Scarlett said. ” And point of correction, you never fúcking cared from the very start! All you ever did while I was pregnant was fúck around with the hoes you brought home and leave me to suffer in the dark.”

Garrett wasn’t even fazed. ” You pulled through all right, didn’t you?”

” I suffered!” She yelled. ” I went through hell after getting accquited from prison. I roamed the streets, tryna feed Daisy when she was just a baby. You have absolutely no idea what I’ve been through.”

Garrett still held his smile. ” I know everything you’ve been through, Scarlett. News fly around the hood, doesn’t it? I got to know a lot when I broke out of jail. Don’t worry, once Craig pays up by Thursday, I’ll see you right for all your troubles.”

” Fúck Craig!” Scarlett cursed. ” And fúck you and your money too!”

Garrett got angry immediately. He pulled the hammer of the gun and pushed her further into the room, threatening her with it.

” Now, listen here you sloppy dirty bítch! I ain’t got time for all these drama. Step aside else I’m gonna pull a slug into your head.”

Daisy immediately moved from her mother’s back and stood before Garret, shielding her mom from the gun.

Scarlett stiffened. ” Daisy, what’re you doing?”

Daisy’s eyes were teary, her arms spread wide apart to protect her mother behind her. ” Please, don’t hurt her.”

Garrett raised an eyebrow when he saw her bravery then laughed heartily.

” That’s mighty sweet of you, child. Don’t worry, I won’t hurt your mother. I only want you to come with me.”

Scarlett immediately grabbed Daisy near, pulling her away from the gun but Garrett reached out and grabbed Daisy’s arm, pulling her savagely towards him.

He was strong enough but Scarlett wouldn’t let Daisy go away that easy. She tried dragging Daisy back, raising her voice.

Using his feet, Garrett kicked Scarlett in the abdomen, tearing her away from Daisy.

Scarlett landed roughly on the ground, hitting her head on the foot of the bed.

Daisy screamed.

Garrett immediately covered Daisy’s mouth with his fingers, stifling her scream.

” Hush there, little one,” he whispered to her ears. ” You don’t want the hotel hearing you scream, do you?”

Daisy was shaking soo badly she nearly collapsed from his sweating hands.

Scarlett slowly rised to her feet. Her crown was open with a cut, bleeding blood.

Her eyes travelled to Garrett and remained there. Her heart sank when she saw her daughter in his arms.

Garrett was laughing. He leaned forward and placed his nose over Daisy’s neck, smelling her hair and body heat. He felt satisfied.

” Now that’s the smell of my blood,” he said mildly. Then turning back to Scarlett, he snarled. ” Too bad you lost her, Scarlett.”

Scarlett was letting tears stream down her face. ” Don’t take her away from me, Garrett. Let her go. I’ll pay you the twenty million Craig sent to my account. I’ll do anything. Just don’t take her away.”

Garrett shook his head. ” I don’t need your money. I only want a child and now I got what I need. You’re still young and beautiful. Surely you’re not up for menopause either. There are tons of handsome young hot blooded dudes out there ready to give you a good time as well as get you pregnant with another baby. C’mon you got all the money in the world. The boys would rush you.”

Scarlett immediately fell to her knees and placed her hands together. ” Garrett, please. Don’t do this to me. Daisy’s all I got. She’s my life, my hope, my future. If you take her away, I’ll die.”

Garrett shrugged. ” Then die.”

Daisy wanted to say something but Garrett shut her mouth with his hand.

” Now, don’t fret, daughter,” he said, holding her tight. ” I won’t kill you. Your father’s gonna take good care of you. I ain’t like your mother. I ain’t a pórnstar nor a murderer.”

Daisy’s eyes widened. Her eyes were questioning him. She had a “come again” Expression on her face.

Scarlett yelled. ” Garrett don’t you dare say it?”

Garrett laughed. ” Or what? You’re gonna kill me? Why hide the truth from your daughter all these years. She deserves to know.”

Scarlett was pleading. ” Garrett, please don’t!”

Garrett was enjoying himself. He glared at Daisy and spoke urgently to her.

” Ever wondered what your mama’s job was while you’re growing up?”

Daisy’s eyes were shaking but it showed how anxious she was to know about it.

Garrett told her. ” Well, here’s the bitter truth, princess. Your slúttish mother is an ex pórnstar.”

Scarlett’s voice blasted to Garrett. ” You bastard!”

Garrett was laughing. ” And you wanna know the best part, she murdered a man for her boyfriend, Craig. That’s why she got away for six years. She was at jail, serving her sentence.”

Scarlett couldn’t take it anymore. She ran towards Garrett, her fist raised in the air, tears flowing out of her eyes.

” You son of a bítch!”

Garrett saw her coming and using the butt of his gun, he slammed her hard at the corner of her head, sending her staggering away from him.

Putting his fingers against the trigger, he pointed the gun warningly at her. ” One more move from you and I might just as well shoot you dead, bítch.”

Scarlett places her hand on the wall, bent over as she felt the warm feeling of blood from the impact of Garrett’s gun butt against the corner of her head.

Garrett began telling Daisy everything Scarlett ever did for money. He told her a lot of lies and some truth, spicing his story up to fill the young girl’s ears.

Scarlett would have stopped him but she was too weak and heavy hearted to even say a thing. She couldn’t raise her head and look once more into the eyes of the girl she called daughter.

She felt ashamed at the raw words spilling out of Garrett’s mouth and for the first time in her life, she felt like jumping over the window and claiming her life.

She wondered what Daisy thought of her now and she wasn’t even ready to know.

When Garrett was done, there was silence in the room. No one spoke a word.

Scarlett slowly raised her head to look at her daughter. The look she met turned her cold inside.

Daisy’s eyes were shaking with emotions. Her mouth was opened in disbelief as she stared at her mother. She didn’t want to believe what Garrett told her and yet, she believed him.

She believed him because her mother had been Soo d--n secretive. The lies were too much. No wonder she looked like a jail bird after she returned home after six years.

Daisy remembered the countless times she had asked her mother what she does for a living. Scarlett would lie she had a job working in an office.

She never knew what her mother did to feed her, put a roof over her head, send her to a good school or even buy her nice clothes.

So her mom was an ex pórnstar? She did pórn to take care of her?

Daisy’s heart melted.

The sacrifices Scarlett has made for her was out of this world. But why’d she kill Larry Cage?

Daisy knew Garrett was lying about Larry Cage’s murder. She didn’t believe her mom was cold blooded to end a man’s life. Left to her, Scarlett might’ve been framed by Craig himself. She didn’t trust Craig.

Garrett’s story was phoney and lack the truth. She was smart enough to sense it.

Then it occurred to her Garrett might have killed Larry Cage instead by Craig’s order. Her mind was working fast, putting two and two together from Garrett’s bags of lies and some fragments of truths he spoke.

In a matter of three minutes, she had already forged exactly what happened to her mother.

Craig had paid Garrett to murder his father and pin the rap on Scarlett. That was the real story and the only truth she could come up with.

Daisy smiled at her mother. She never knew her mom could go that extra mile, make horrifying sacrifices to give her the best life.

And she was Soo blinded and ungrateful to realize it then. She immediately felt guilty. All she ever thought of was herself. She was being selfish and needy while her mother worked her àss off to take care of her.

Daisy didn’t know how dangerous Garrett could be with a gun. He killed a man what are the chances he wouldn’t kill her mom?

Wouldn’t it be better to go away with Garrett then struggle back towards her mother and have her shot?

Gently placing her finger on Garrett’s thick hand against her mouth, she pushed it down a little and spoke to Garrett.

” I’ll come with you.”

Garrett looked surprised. He wasn’t expecting that from Daisy.

Daisy kept her eyes locked on his. ” But on one condition. You won’t hurt my mother. I’ll go anywhere with you. But I ain’t going nowhere if you hurt her again.”

Garrett showed his teeth. ” With pleasure. I derive no joy Killing the woman who gave birth to you. Mother are the salt of the earth but I’ll watch out for a mother like yours. She’s aa deadly as a rattlesnake.”

Daisy hated him instantly.

Looking at him now, she was certain he had abandoned her and her mother to suffer. He doesn’t look like a responsible father. She had imagined her dad to be one responsible black man wearing a red tie and some office suits, coming home early to a nice decent meal and spending a lot of cool times with her.

Ever since Scarlett lied that her dad died, Daisy had immediately formed a good picture of what her dad looked like. She had seen other kid’s dads, envying the comfort of them having a father while she had none.

But now, she was staring right at her dad, disappointedly. There was no DNA test required. She took after Garrett a lot. Instead of loving the feeling of finally meeting her long lost father, she ended up only despising him.

He looked like a junkie, a drug dealer, a criminal, a man w---e. He wasn’t her ideal father. He was a stranger and a not so impressive stranger for that matter.

But she decided she was going to go with him. A man of his kind must have a weakness for guns. You never know what he could do.

” All right then,” Garrett grunted, pushing her towards the doorway, his other hand still pointed at Scarlett. ” Let’s get the hell out of here. And don’t scream.”

Daisy crept towards the doorway, standing before the door.

Garrett called after her. ” Go on. Open the d--n door.”

Daisy swallowed, held the handle and gently opened it.

Suddenly, there came a big blast of gunshot. It was Soo loud it sounded noisily outside the hotel.

Scarlett heard Daisy screamed in fright.

Scarlett stood in shock at what she was seeing. Garrett dropped his gun and slowly crumbled to the ground, a bullet hole forming on his forehead.

Standing outside the doorway of her hotel room was Craig, a big black automatic pistol shaking in his hands.
