It wasn’t even night yet and the parking space was getting choked. He got somewhere to park, we went in. He had told me Vera was waiting inside, that he had left her to pick me up. But didn’t tell me all…

Not until we went in, I saw Vicky seated with Ann.

Once I saw the bottle of wine, I knew Vera and Ann were at it again. They make everywhere they showed up fun. And Ann can laugh for Africa. Once she’s high, just say anything and she’d laugh, laugh and laugh. Well, I smiled when I saw the fruity drink in front of Vicky.
“What’s up everyone”
“Hi” Ann said
“Hi” came Vicky
The lounge seats were spacious enough. We all sat comfortably and started talking. And of course, it was always fun with these people.

And today, Vicky didn’t seem as la!d back as she seemed the other night.
A while later, I and Josh went to sit on the bar stools and asked for more drinks. We sat there watching recap of EPL.
I kept wondering why she acted that way at Ifeanyi’s place that night if she could hang out in a lounge. One would think she get asphyxiated in a place like this.
I was looking at the recap of matches but my mind wasn’t there at all. Presently, Vicky held my thoughts. The girl simply captivated me with her smiles and laughter. I heard her laugh again and I had to turn and looked straight at her.
Looking must have turned to staring cos when our eyes met, I didn’t look away. She did. I blinked out of the trance. I didn’t want to come across as creepy or some turn-off.

From time to time, our eyes met.

Hmmm…

I was checking her out. And maybe she was checking me out too. That was the only way to explain how our eyes kept meeting.
She must have received an urgent call because soon as she dropped the call, she grabbed her bag and stood up in a hurry, briefly saying something to Vera and Ann.
On her way out, she stopped where I sat with Josh
“Josh I’m sorry I have to go. Vera is getting high again so u should take her home.
“Okay. I’d drop her and Ann when Stag is ready to go” Josh said
“You really seem in a hurry, I hope its not an emergency?” I asked
“No its not. But my mum needs an urgent help” as she said these words, she was already pulling away.

“Okay” I shrugged
“Bye” she said
And with that she turned round and headed out of the door in haste…
