i couldnt Pick up the call cos my heart signalled me of wattsup,
my phone kickstarted another round of ringing and the caller ID was as bold as ever “SWEET MUM”.

I picked up the call, “hello mum”,
“come down to the spa right away”, she replied and the line went dead.

My fear increased due to the way she sounded.
I knew she already knows am in pains and will surely find out( so usual of my mum as she always keep tabs on her children).

I arrived at the Spa looking fidgeted but still calm myself as i went into her office.i greeted her and she answered warmly.
“tell me what you are hiding”, she asked out of nowhere. The question caught me unawares cos i felt all was well after i noticed her elated mood but i just realized she had played me and made guilt,fear and regret display on my face after she asked the question.

I was Still silent but already exposed(at least she now knows i got something i was hiding).

I couldn’t dare tell my mum what i had done.

“Godsmiracle i have been having strange feelings and dreams concerning you and as a mother i can’t turn a blind eye to the fact that you are troubled greatly. Pls tell me my son”
“or should i kneel down for you”, she was already trying to patronize the kneeling posture.

I couldn’t let that happen, tufiakwa i wasn’t ready to be cursed unintentionally by my mum as we all know the implication of her kneeling down.
“i got a lady pregnant”, i found myself shouting.

Like an angel of death passed the room as silence enveloped the room. Free tears fell from my eyes while i avoided looking at my mum.

I was just praying she doesn’t develope B.p and collapse that same moment. I couldn’t loose my mum.i love her so much.
“am sorr……..”, i was about saying but she cut me short.

“who is she”, she tried sounding calm but her voice was already betraying her emotions.

“that’s the problem mummy”, i replied increasing my crying duty.

“what do you mean my son”, she asked still feigning calmness.

I shook my head in a bid to tell her am not saying a word again. It was like i was the pregnant one and was being asked who impregnated me.
“tell me my son”, she kept repeating those words while i shook my head knowing i was fighting a lost battle.

“i am your mother, i can still remember when i gave birth to u eighteen years ago and so am capable of handling the truth, just tell me now”, she was now crying.

“Mummy am sorry, it is Maryam Daura”
“am sorry Mummy”, with those words i went blank. The weight of the trouble ahead immediately fell on me and i collapsed.

I fainted.

I opened my eyes and the face of My Maryam greeted me.

“My love”, i muttered.

“shhhh”, she placed her finger on my mouth and faked a smile.

“He is awake”, she loudly said.

My mum came over her eyeds filled with tears.
“mommy where i am”, i asked
she just smiled,immediately the door opened and a doctor came in. After the normal pleasantries he checked me and told my mum i needed to eat as the drip must have drained me out.
“so you fainted like a scared lady”, Maryam joked to which we both had a good laugh. My mum was already out to meet the doctor’s request.
“am sorry for fainting”, replied
“how long have i been out and how do you get to know”, i added.

“too many questions”, she replied to which i begged her for answers.

She told me my mum called her to tell her and immediately she came over and that was 3 hours ago.

“i think your mum already knows”, she said
“about what”, i asked
“our relationship”, she responded
“the worry on my face coupled with the way i was holding your hands and praying is enough to let the cat of the bag” , she added
“my dear she already knows of our baby”, i said
