After we had arrived home i parked the car at its usual spot. My phone rang as i picked it up i handed the keys to Maryam to open the door leading to my apartment.


“Hello, who is this”, i spoke out after answering the unknown caller ID.

“My friend guess”, the other caller replied.


I could have “change am for the caller” but the voice sounds so familiar.



“Tolu”, i replied after accessing the voice and realised it was so familiar with hers.


“Wizard”, she interjected
“i knew u will get it right”, she added
i laughed and we struck a conversation, she was like telling me she haven’t seen me in the class or library since Sunday, just two days and my presence is already felt.


I promised her to join in the reading the next day as we soon ended the call.


I went in to the house and met Maryam serving rice and salad combined with meat on the table.


“so fast”, i asked in shock.


“Mr Man you have been in that car talking with God knows who for the past 45 minutes.


I countered but she decided i confirm myself by checking the call duration and exactly as she said it was 47 minutes. 2 minutes more than she suggested.


Surprised on how long Tolu let the call go though she was the initiator of the call.i waved it out of mind while i joined in the meal.


“Study time”, Maryam shouted at me after the meal as i was busy chatting with some folks on FB.


I knew objecting will be of no good so i concur


.she was asking me questions directly from the bunch of handouts while i answered. If i got an answer wrong she corrects me while i jolted down the right answer.


This took 4 good hours and i knew even if i don’t touch my books anymore till the exams my Cgpa will still be a close neighbour of 5.

“Ding dong”, the door bell rang three Times. I stood up and headed to the door to open.


“please, tell me i am the first to press the bell, i believe i am the first person to launch your doorbell”, Doc said, her hands clasped together in the “ahbeg” format.


“you are the first sweetie”, Maryam replied putting on a smile as Doc entered the parlour.


“no she isn’t the first, the shop keeper tested it before we paid for it”, i objected just to cause wahala.


“hahahaha, that’s different na”, Doc said
i succumbed as she sat on the cushion in the parlour while we all shared some gist. I headed to the fridge brought out a bottle of red wine and served the 3 of us.


We drank till around minutes past 12am after which Doc bade goodnight.


Immediately she left i closed the door and turned around towards Maryam, she was battling with sleep.


I walked towards her gave her a kiss and wanted withdrawing but she held me back and wrapped her hands around my neck.


“Take me right her on this cushion”, she sexily asked.

‘sure, that has to be a normal routine till u leave’, i said in my head while my kiss transferred from the lips to the neck nape.
