Alloy carefully pushed the door open.

The hinges made a soft creaking sound.

He stepped inside respectfully.
But the moment his eyes scanned the office…
He froze. 😳

The Principal was not alone.
Three senior teachers were already seated inside.
The Vice Principal.

The Head of Science Department.
And another senior member of staff.
The atmosphere inside the office was calm…

Yet incredibly serious.
The four adults all turned their attention toward him at the exact same moment.

For a brief second…
Nobody spoke.

Alloy respectfully greeted everyone.

“Good morning, sir.”
“Good morning, ma.”

The Principal adjusted his glasses slowly.
He looked at Alloy for several seconds before pointing toward the empty chair directly opposite his desk.

“Corper Alloy…”
he said calmly,
“Please have your seat.”
Alloy obeyed immediately.

His heart was pounding so loudly that he was almost certain everyone in the room could hear it.

The Principal folded both hands on top of his table.
The other teachers exchanged brief glances with one another.

Then…

The Principal cleared his throat.
He leaned forward slightly…
Looked Alloy directly in the eyes

We have something very important to discuss.”
Alloy slowly adjusted on his seat…
His heart pounded loudly inside his chest.

He had no idea whether the next few minutes would become the turning point of his entire NYSC service.
