Episode 6: The Ink Trap

Can a hidden eye catch the lies that people tell in the dark?

One cool evening, the sky outside was very dark. The moon was hidden behind big clouds. Inside the house, the sitting room was completely quiet. There was no light on. The chairs and the tables looked like dark shapes in the room. The big house felt cold and lonely. Tunde was still standing inside the small kitchen, holding his glass of cold water. He was not moving at all. He was waiting to see what would happen next. He was hoping his secret plan would work out well. In the corner of the sitting room, the phone was inside the large flower vase. The camera lens was peeking out just enough to see everything clearly. It was recording the whole room in total silence.

Suddenly, the heavy front door had pushed open very slowly. A mysterious person had stepped inside the house.

It was Lola, the wicked friend.

She was the person who was sneaking into the house. Lola was Bisi’s close friend, but she was a very bad friend. She did not like the love between Tunde and Bisi. She wanted to make them sad. She walked into the quiet sitting room with soft steps. Her shoes did not make any sound on the carpet. She moved very slowly, like a cat walking in the night. She did not want anyone to hear her. She did not want Tunde to come out of his room. She thought that she was completely alone in the house.

She did not know that the phone was hidden in the flower vase, watching her every move. She did not look at the corner of the room. She did not see the small camera lens hiding between the big green leaves of the fake flowers. She walked right past the vase. She thought her secret was safe. She thought nobody would ever find out about her visit. But the little phone was working very hard. It was saving every single step she took. It was saving the look on her face. The silent eye was watching her closely.

Lola looked around to make sure no one was there. She turned her head to the left side. She turned her head to the right side. She stared at the hallway for a long time. She listened for any noise. She wanted to be very sure that Tunde and Bisi were not nearby. The room was completely empty and silent. Lola felt very happy because she thought she was very clever. She thought she was too smart to be caught by anyone. She smiled a small, mean smile in the dark.

She began to walk around the sitting room. She wanted to find something to look at. She wanted to find a way to make trouble. She walked over to a small table that stood against the wall. This small table had many pretty things on it. It had little glass decorations and beautiful ornaments. In the center of the small table, there was a very special object. It was a large picture frame made of wood. Inside the frame was a photograph from a very happy day.

Lola reached out her hand and picked up the beautiful wedding photo of Bisi and Tunde. She held the wooden frame with her long fingers. She lifted it up so she could see the picture better in the dim light. The photograph showed Tunde and Bisi on their wedding day. They were both wearing beautiful clothes. Tunde looked very handsome in his dark suit. Bisi looked like a beautiful princess in her white dress. They were holding hands and smiling very big smiles. They looked so happy and so much in love in the photo. It was a picture of pure joy.

Lola stared at the happy face of Bisi. As she looked at the beautiful smile on Bisi’s face, Lola began to feel very angry. Her heart became full of bad thoughts. She did not want Bisi to be happy. She did not want Bisi to have a good husband or a beautiful home. She wanted Bisi to be sad and lonely. Lola’s face changed from a smile to a very ugly look. Her eyes became small and mean. She held the picture frame very tightly, as if she wanted to break it into pieces.

Then, she hissed loudly like an angry snake. The sound was very sharp and scary in the quiet room. It sounded like a wild animal that wanted to bite someone. It was a sound of pure hatred. Lola hated her friend Bisi so much because of jealousy. She did not want anyone to see her anger, but the hidden camera inside the flower vase caught it all. The phone recorded the scary sound and the angry look on her face. Lola did not care. She put the picture frame back down on the small table with a rough push.

She turned away from the small table and looked at the rest of the sitting room. She was searching for something else to ruin. She wanted to do something that would cause a very big fight between Tunde and Bisi. She wanted to make sure their love was completely destroyed. She walked toward the center of the room where the large, soft sofa was sitting. Then, she saw something else resting on the sofa.

It was the beautiful, favorite white dress of Bisi that she loved.

This dress was the most beautiful clothing that Bisi owned. Tunde had bought it for her as a special surprise gift. Bisi loved the dress very much because it reminded her of her husband's love. She only wore it on special days when they went out together. The dress was clean and sparkling white. It looked like a bright piece of snow sitting on the dark sofa. There was not a single spot of dirt on it. It was ironed neatly and ready to be worn. Bisi had placed it there carefully so she could put it on the next morning.

Lola walked closer to the sofa. She stood right in front of the clean dress and looked down at it. The sight of the sparkling white cloth made her even angrier. She thought about how pretty Bisi would look when she wore it. She thought about how Tunde would smile at Bisi and praise her beauty. Lola could not stand that thought. She wanted to destroy the beauty of the dress. She wanted to make it ugly and dirty so that Bisi would cry bitter tears when she saw it.

Lola reached into her bag. She was carrying a large, dark bag over her shoulder. She opened the zipper of the bag very quietly, making sure it did not make a loud sound. She put her hand deep inside the bag, searching for something she had brought from her house. She knew exactly what she wanted to do. She had planned this bad deed for a long time. Her fingers wrapped around a small, cold object inside the bag.

She pulled out a glass bottle filled with dark red ink.

The bottle was made of clear glass, so the liquid inside was easy to see. The ink was very dark and thick, and it looked like dark red blood in the dim light of the sitting room. Lola held the bottle up and looked at it. This bottle of ink was her secret weapon. She knew that if this dark red ink touched the clean white dress, the dress would be ruined forever. The red color would stain the white cloth, and no soap or water could ever wash it away. It would be a permanent mark of destruction.

An evil smile grew on her face. Her lips moved back to show her white teeth, but it was not a happy smile. It was a scary, wicked smile. She felt very glad inside her heart because she believed her evil plan was going to work perfectly. She thought she was the most clever person in the world. She thought that Bisi would think Tunde ruined the dress, or Tunde would think Bisi was careless. It would cause a massive argument, and the joy of the house would be gone forever. Lola loved that idea.

She opened the bottle slowly. She used her fingers to turn the black cap of the glass bottle. She did it very gently, millimeter by millimeter, so she would not spill any drop on her own clothes or on her own shoes. She wanted to keep herself clean while she made Bisi's things dirty. The cap came off the bottle with a tiny sound. Now, the open bottle of thick red ink was in her hand. The dangerous liquid was ready to be poured out.

She was ready to do something very bad. She lifted her arm up high. She held the open glass bottle directly over the center of the clean white dress. She looked down at the sparkling cloth with eyes full of hatred. She tilted her hand just a little bit, getting ready to splash the dark red liquid all over the beautiful garment. She was just one second away from ruining Bisi's favorite dress.

The camera kept recording everything in total silence. Inside the flower vase in the corner, the phone stayed perfectly still. Its small camera lens did not blink. It captured every single detail of this wicked moment. It recorded Lola's soft steps, her angry face, the wedding photo, the white dress, the glass bottle, and the dark red ink. The silent camera was saving all the proof that Tunde would need to show the truth to Bisi. Lola had no idea that her secret was already caught by the hidden eye.

She stood there on her tiptoes, her hand shaking a little bit with excitement. The whole house was deathly quiet. Tunde was still in the kitchen, holding his glass of water, listening closely to the sounds in the sitting room. The tension in the air was very tight, like a rubber band that was about to snap. The dark red ink was right at the edge of the glass bottle, ready to fall.

What will Lola do with the dark red ink bottle in her hand, and who will catch her doing this wicked deed very soon in the next big moment right now?

Can you believe that Lola is this wicked? What do you think she will do next with that dark red ink?

Will she pour the whole bottle on Bisi's favorite white dress, or will someone stop her before the ink falls?
