The Lion’s Den - S01 E07

Agatha was really hurt and worried at the same time because of what the butcher had told her. One thing she was sure of was that what the butcher said was true and valid. What she wasn’t sure of was if the chairman really took a video of them doing the act or the butcher just made it up to make her accept.

Agatha got home and started preparing for supper of that evening. Though she was doing the cooking chore, her mind was out of her.

“How many other people did the chairman tell about us? Did he really get the video? If yes what for? What if my husband gets wind of this?” These were questions that were running in the mind of Agatha.

She was deep in thoughts after putting a t-bone over the wire to barbeque it. Whilst that absorbed in those thoughts, the t-bone got burnt to black.

“Agatha are you okay?” Came a voice.

It was Edmond who had come and talking to her.

“Oh yes am fine” she said looking at him.

“But you have burnt the meat on the brazier.” He said.

She then turned her attention to the brazier and noticed the piece of meat completely burnt with nothing that can be eaten.

“So you mean to tell me that you couldn’t smell something burning?” He asked.

“Sorry. I was really deep in thoughts” she said.

“What about?”

“Aaaah we will talk later. Let me cook” she said in order to buy time to think about what to tell him.

That evening when the kids had gone to sleep, they were just the two of them in the sitting room. Edmond saw that as an opportunity to find out what was bothering his beloved wife.

“It’s just that I feel so guilty about what my brother did” she lied.

“What?”

“Stealing your last salary”

“Oh okay, there are things we have no control over and that’s one of them. Let’s forget about it and forge ahead. I have forgiven him because I know that time will come when he will need us.”

“Thank you Edmond.”

Edmond then held his wife close to him to comfort her as he went on telling her some other comforting words. Deep down the heart of Agatha, she was really hurting seeing the kind of man that she had cheated on. Tears ran down her face as she sobbed silently. Edmond was thinking that she was just being too emotional not knowing that she was crying about something very serious she was in.

That night after Edmond had slept, Agatha lay there in bed with eyes open thinking about a way in which she was going to get out of that mess. It was all clear that the issue was just starting and if she did nothing about it, a lot of chaos would come onto her life. She went in cracking her head till she decided to go and confront the chairman about the issue.

On the next day, Agatha went to the market and prepared her stand in readiness to sale her goods. She left a boy who helped her do the selling while she went to the office of the chairman to confront her. Fortunately, she found the chairman there sitted alone and in a very good spirit. Seeing her also made him feel so good.

“Hey lovedove, I am glad to see you. How can I be of help to you today?” The chair asked with a flirtatious smile.

“Did you take a video of us or not?” She asked bluntly.

“What video?”

“Dont pretend, you know what am talking about”

“Okay, listen, I took no video. Wait a minute, did that stupid butcher tell you anything?”

“So you really told him about me?”

“So but we were arguing and competing to see who will lay you first seeing how difficult you were.”

“What?! You are so stupid and foolish! How dare you take a challenge on me”

“We couldn’t help”

“Nonsense. So where is the video?”

“In my phone but I will delete it.”

The chairman then got the phone and showed the video to her. She couldn’t believe seeing her and him doing it on the table in that video. She tried to recall then time when the camera was set but to know avail. The chairman then deleted the video to the eyes of her.

“Don’t you dare do that stupid thing ever again”

“I won’t take a video of us again. So when are we going to ….. You know”

“What we did has remained in the past and it will never ever in your entirely life happen again.” She said then heading to the door to leave.

She turned around and gave the chairman a nasty slap after which she walked out of the office. She walked angrily back to her stand and sat under a big umbrella and she sipped some water really fuming with anger.

As she was sitted there, her friend who had advised her to sleep with the chairman for the sake of the fund came to her. She sat next to her and asked if all was fine to which she said she was okay.

“Did he make a video?” The friend whispered to her.

Agatha almost choked on the water at hearing that. She never expected that question to come from her friend thinking she knew nothing about it.

“Sorry I didn’t mean to but that is his behavior of taking videos.”

“There is no video and why are our even asking?”

“I saw you storming out of his office and I wondered what could have made you that angry.”

“That has nothing to do with any video. It’s just something else”.

“What was it?”

“Please I have work to do here. Excuse me” Agatha said standing up.

In the evening when she had knocked off from the market, Agatha, as earlier decided, turned into the butcher’s store to talk to him. She knew that he was the only one who would put her heart to rest of talked to. She sound some people in the store. So to wait for privacy, she made herself busy checking in the fridges till all the people had left.

“Hello, I never thought you would come back” the butcher said.

“Please, I have come to beg with you please stop this speculation you have. It will just ruin me”

“A speculation? Wait a minute” he said.

The butcher then got her phone and scrolled into the gallery and then played the video of Agatha and the chairman to her face. She couldn’t believe it seeing that he also had the video.

“Did he give it to you?” She asked.

“No, I stole it from his phone.”

“Why?”

“The reason isnt important now, what is important is that I should discard it and to have my mouth shut about it.”

“Can you please do that for me?”

“Of course but on one condition only”

“I will do anything please”

“You should also make me feel honeybee”

“What?!”

“Allow me to smash too or else this video will circulate. Just imagine what will happen once it goes viral” the butcher said sternly.
