The Lion’s Den - S01 E06

Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 6

The chairman kept on touching and caressing Agatha in that office till he felt blood running down his body to one part which hardened. He then locked up the office and came back to where Agatha was and started kissing her passionately.

30 minutes later

Agatha stood up from the the table which was in that office and pulled down her dress which had been pulled up. She then got her undie and wore it. The chairman was smiling at himself as he pulled up his pair of trousers and closed up his zip.

“You are so sweet. You will give someone diabetes.” He sad smiling at her.

Agatha did not say anything to him as she was feeling so guilty of what had just happened. This was so because it was her first time to ever cheat on a man she was married to or dating since she was born. It was not in her genes to cheat but the circumstances she was in made her lose her integrity and do it.

The chairman then went to the drawers he had in his office and unlocked one compartment. He then turned with a bunch of money which he went with to where Agatha was standing.

“This is K4000. You can have it. If you allow me to do you more,more will come to you” he said.

Agatha received the money and then asked the chairman to unlock the door for her. The chairman first gave her a tight hug and kisses her then opened the door. Agatha left the office and the chairman sat their smiling to himself as he got a notebook from the drawers and wrote the name Agatha in it on the list of names of ladies she had.

“Agatha is now my number 23 in this market. My target is 50 in this big market” the chairman said laughing to himself.

It was like he was writing down the name of every woman he had carnal knowledge of in that market.

When Agatha got out, guilty overwhelmed her. As she walked away and along the market stands, she felt like people who were looking at her knew what she had done with the chairman. Though people had no slightest idea, these thoughts kept coming and tormenting her. She quickly went to the bus stop and got on a minibus then went home.

When she got home, she found her husband outside the house with front bonnet of the car open. He was refilling water into it. She tried to act calm so as to not make her husband suspicious.

“You had gone far?” Edmond asked.

“Just in town. Sorru I didn’t tell you. The chairman had called me”

“What for?”

“The government has given empowerment fund to all those whose things got burnt. So I was called to go and get my K3000.” She said showing him the money.

“Wow. That’s good. Okay I will find you in the house”

Agatha went and hid the money so as to not leave any chance for it to be stolen. She then dressed up in chitenge material and went to take a bath. She was doing this to hide anything suspicious from her husband. Edmond didnt even bother asking her why she was taking a bath immediately after getting home instead of bathing after doing the cooking because she completely trusted her.

When she was done bathing, she called her husband inside the house. She then told him about the empowerment fund which she had received. Edmond was happy to hear that his wife had also benefited from it.

“The people spearheading this are usually corrupt. Am glad that they have now become of integrity to even offer you the opportunity.” Edmond said.

Agatha did not say anything knowing exactly what happened for her to have access to that money. She was still feeling guilty as she looked at her excited husband. They then went on making plans on how to use the money. They decided to use a thousand to repair their car so that he could start doing ‘lifts’ while the remaining amount was to be ploughed back into the business which had almost crashed.

TWO DAYS LATER

Edmond had started working with his car as a taxi. As he was not yet very much familiar with the business, things were not yet in what he wanted them to be. He was trying his level best to work out and make ends meet at his place on these few days.

Agatha on the other hand had ordered the second hand clothes and started selling like she usually did. She was sure that her business would triumph looking at how the clothes were being sold at. Though she was happy that her business had come back on track, the guilty of what she did with the chairman kept on tormenting her most of the times she was alone.

“I really need to see a way of letting this guilty go away from me” she would say.

That day after knocking off from the stand, she quickly went to the bus stop and jumped on a minibus heading home. A lot of thoughts were going on in her mind as she analysed her life on those days.

She finally got to the stop where she was to drop. She got off the bus and started walking heading home. When she got to a butchery which was beside the road and belonged to one of Edmond’s friend, she turned to buy something. In the butchery there was only one person who was the same owner and friend to Edmond. The exchanged greetings and asked about each other’s family.

“I guess you want the usual one for my Friend” he said.

“Of course. Give me for K40.” She said.

“I am really proud with how you take care of my friend. Keep it up” he said as he passed over the t-bone and change to her.

“Thank you”.

“But I am a bit dissapointed with you”

“What do you mean?”

“How can you cheat on my friend just like that?”

“Excuse me!”

“You cheated on him with that chairman at the market. It’s so disgusting”

“You better watch your tongue. You have no idea what these accusations will land you. I don’t want to hear this nonsense for the peace of my marriage.” She said turning to leave.

“But it’s true the chairman himself told me that”

“Please, I don’t know what you are talking about and I don’t want to hear this” she said walking to the door.

As she was getting to the door, the butcher shouted something which made Agatha to stop a bit though not looking back.

“He showed me a video of him and you” the butcher shouted.

Agatha walked away more confused at this point. She knew from deep down her heart that what that butcher had said was really true and what made her even more worried was the mention of the video.

“Was he taking a video of us?” She asked herself as tears gathered as she walked.
