Bosco’s POV

“I’ll do it” i agreed to Sommy’s request to try to remember.

“On one condition” I added,

“What?”

“I’ll do it if only you read your father’s letters” I threw at her and she shook her head.

“Bosco you know how I feel about the letter”

“You also know how I feel about remembering.” I snapped and she rolled her eyes.

“Fine! I’ll read the letter”

“Promise you will”

“I cross my heart” she answered and I chuckled leaning close to her for a kiss.

It began as blurry flashes when we started making love

Suddenly it became clearer.

I grunted in pain. I wanted to pull out but I had to remain inside according to Sommy. I saw myself entering into a room with someone who closed the door behind me.

“Don’t worry Bosco, I’ll treat you well” the voice said and I stopped in shock then I laid in bed closing my mouth.

“I finally remember” I muttered in tears.

Sommy touched my cheek in worry,

“What happened?” She asked and I kept mute sobbing uncontrollably.

“Bosco” she called out.

Sommy’s POV

I tried to make Bosco tell me what the hell he remembered but he refused to. Worse he didn’t say a word

I suddenly remembered what his mother said to me at the hospital.

That was why the therapist was scared to continue the treatment. He or she knew it would result to trauma.

For our sakes, I hope not.

I woke from hearing Bosco’s scream. He had a nightmare.

“Are you alright?” I asked him and he laid back in bed then he turned his back at me.

“Bosco” I called out and he ignored me.

“If you don’t talk to me right now, I’ll leave the room for you. Is that what you want?” I asked, he said nothing still.

It was past five already so I wore my dress, picked up my bag then i zoomed off.

The initial feeling was anger.

Later on Monday the day, Madam Jane informed me that Bosco didn’t go to work. She said he hasn’t had breakfast and lunch and was refusing to open the door for anyone.

I was in the middle of a session with a man but I excused myself with a big lie.

I got to the house.

I met Madam Jane and Mary by the door of his room.. They spoke in their dialect.

“Good afternoon” I greeted them both and they responded back.

“He has refused breakfast and he doesn’t want to have lunch” Madam jane repeated.

I knocked and no one responded.

“Bosco!” I yelled.

“Bosco, don’t play deaf, I know you can hear me. Open up the door for me”

“What’s wrong with him?” Madam Jane asked,

“He was fine yesterday”

“Bosco!” I yelled but he kept on playing mute.

“I’m more worried about his health. Why would he lock his door knowing fully well if something happens to him, we won’t know” Madam Jane complained and my heart jumped.

I honestly didn’t put that in consideration.

“Bosco are you okay?” I asked, my heart thumped.

“Bosco open the door now and that’s an order from your girlfriend and psychologist” I demanded but he did nothing.

“Bosco I swear to God if you don’t open the door this instance….” I stalled blinking my tears in.

“If you don’t trust me enough to let me in, if you don’t trust me to” I paused in tears.

“I don’t deserve to be your therapist or even your girlfriend. Bosco if you don’t open this door and let me know what’s going on, I swear to God I’ll leave and when I do, you won’t see me again” I threatened then I saw the door open slightly and I walked in with Madam Jane and Mary

“I don’t want to see anyone else” he snapped and they left.

I closed the door and I watched him closely. His eyes were swollen up from crying. There were still tears in his eyes.

“Bosco” I called out in shock then he hugged me.

“I can’t do this alone” he sobbed.

“I can’t”

I patted his back gently. He was crying like a little child. We moved to the bed and we sat down.

“Bosco I’m really scared right now.” I said placing my two palm on both his cheek, looking into his eyes.

“What did you remember?”

“I don’t want to say it. It’s really bad”

“If you don’t tell me? How can I help you out?” I asked and he shook his head.

“What if you leave after hearing this? It’s really bad” he answered and I shook my head in disagreement. Nothing would ever makes me leave him.

“Try me” I said to him and he bowed his head.

“The day i traveled with my so called uncle, there were three other kids in the bus. A man carried me on his lap. I noticed he would touch me places.” He shut his eyes.

“When we got to the house, we were kept in some other room with other children who were crying. I wondered why they were there so I asked the oldest there. She said we’ve been kidnapped by those men.”

Bosco’s POV

FLASH BACK

The three of us tried to scream but we were told it was of no use.

“What do they use us for?” I asked,

“Maybe money ritual, sometimes they bring people to chose the kind of kids they want, whether fat or thin.” Serah answered almost laughing.

“Why are you not crying?”

“I’ve cried and cried and cried. It doesn’t solve anything. I’ve prayed to God but I’m still here. I think there’s something wrong with God’s ear. What’s your name?” She asked,

“John Bosco and you?”

“Serah”

“How did you get here?” I asked

“Mom handed me to them so I can have a better life.” She scoffed.

“How long have you been here?” I asked,

“One week”

A woman walked in shortly, she had a gun and a whip in her hands. Suddenly she walked towards me.

“Hello fine boy, you no fit greet?” She snapped and I greeted her.

“Ehya, too bad say you sef join the ride but I go take care of you well well” she touched my cheek grinning.

After she left, Serah feared for me.

“All the fine boys that have been here then, they don’t last oh.”

“How?” I asked and she pulled back.

“No be my mouth you go hear am but if you have a different God you serve, better pray and hope to Him, if he isn’t as deaf as mine is” she snapped and I bow my head muttering a silent prayer.

Two days later, I witnessed a boy being pulled out by one of the men in gun. He screamed and cried to no avail. No one could do anything.

Day by day I watched our number increase and decrease. I had become so fond of Serah. She was the only friend I had.

One of the days i got pushed out of the room. I saw the fear in Serah’s eyes. I thought that would be the end of me until I was taken to a room. The lady from the other day was in the room.

The guard who took me to the room left afterwards. I was now alone with her.

She was dressed in a gown buttoned down.

“Hey fine boy” she said rising from the bed. Then she walked up to me. I immediately shifted backwards.

“Don’t be scared na” she touched my arm.

“I swear I won’t hurt you” she continued.

She suddenly began to rub my arms softly.

“My name is Miss Jennifer, I own this place and the business done here. I want you to help me and I’ll help you?”

“Would you get me out of this place?” I asked and she laughed.

“No but I can delay a bit”

she knelt down. A lady walked in to us, she had disgust written on her face.

“Sister” she called out almost repulsively and Miss Jennifer demanded she left immediately.

She made me do indespicable things to her.

Day by day she repeated the same thing. She would tell me how much she loved kids toying s*xually with her. Severally I felt irritated. I thought she was the sickest person I’ve ever met.

My worst moment was the day Serah was taken away. I cried like I’ve never cried. I prayed for a miracle from anywhere. Something to get me the hell out of that prison.

I thought I would had peace of mind after she travelled. Not until I got pulled out of the room by the man who carried me on the lap Into a room.

He shut the doors, taking off his belt.

“Bosco or wetin your name be?” I thought he wanted to beat the life out of me but he requested for something else.

“Don’t worry Bosco, I’ll treat you well” he said sniggering.

He asked that I s*ck his private but I didn’t want to and he beat me. Then he forced me to do it. After which he returned me back into the room with kids.

I realized that I was wrong, Miss Jennifer wasn’t the sickest person, this man was.

I cried. I felt dirty, I felt polluted. It was normal for a guy to be with a woman, but a man being with a man was abominable!

I once again prayed for help from God. The next day, he called me out again. The door was slightly opened so i kicked him on the balls while he took off his trousers.

He pushed me to the ground then pressed my neck. Just when I was running out of breath, I saw someone smash something on his head.

The man fell to the ground, I wasn’t sure if he was dead. Quite honestly i didn’t care.

“Stand up. I have to get you out of here” the lady who walked in the other day whispered to me.

I moved back in fear.

“I swear to God, I won’t hurt you. I haven’t been able to sleep at night because of you, I’ve been disturbed to help you out. If I don’t get you out, I may never have rest of mind so if you like yourself, you’ll follow me before people find me out”

she said and I followed her out.

“Who are you?” I asked her,

“You can call me Mercy. My sister controls this place?”

“You don’t look like a bad person”

“I can’t report my sister. She’s the only blood relative I have.” She answered.

“Can you jump?” She asked and I wondered why.

“The plan is for us to use the backyard. There’s a bush path over the fence that would lead us to the road. If we use the gate, we’ll be caught”

When we got to the backyard we heard someone shout.

“Hey!” at us.

“Run!” She yelled and we ran to the fence. Mercy raised me up and I looked at the distance.

I jumped the moment I saw him shoot the gun. Mercy followed and jumped down too.

She groaned the moment she got down. She has been shot.

“Run and don’t look back, they’ll come now and they’ll be much. Just follow the path you’ll see a road.” She removed some money giving it to me.

“Take a bus going to Ake bus-stop. Stop at number 3. Jimoh street. Tell them you’re looking for Taye Ajao. I’ll meet you if I make it out alive. Run!” She yelled and I ran like I was mad.

I heard footsteps following me as I ran. I finally got to the road side. While trying to cross the road, I noticed a man following me. I recognized him, hence I didn’t want him getting a hold of me.

Before I could open and close my eyes, a car hit me.
