PRIVIOUSLY ON REINCARNATION

“You are talking about Dike my bosom friend?”

“Yes, Dike he is”. Answered Ola

“He has first declared himself my enemy, so he remains one”. Dinta said

“Good, the battle line is drawn, but be careful, for Dike is very powerful”. She warned.

“Can I ask something”. Dinta inquired.

“Go on Dinta”. She replied.

“I’m I your son Dinta?”. He asked.

“That I will let you know when the time is right”. She answered and disappeared, then Dinta woke up.

CONTINUATION

Dinta got up the next morning and was full of smiles, his wife noticed his joyous mood and was also excited.

“Dim oma (my good husband)”. She called smiling. “Been a long time since I saw you wake up this happy. Tell me what gladdens your heart dim”. She told him.

Dinta moved close to his wife and crossed his right hand across her neck.

“So many things gladdens my heart my wife, at last; I shall find solution to our predicarments”. He answered smiling also.

“I don’t understand dim (my husband), please make me understand”.

“Where is Olamma my beautiful daughter?”. He asked.

“Ola is sleeping nna anyi, you haven’t answered my question. How do you mean you’ve found solution to our predicarments?” She asked again.

“I shall tell you everything you need to know, please, go and take one of the dry meats and prepare me a delicious yam portage. When you’re back, I shall tell you”. He replied her.

“Okay dim oma, let me do that immediately”. She said and left for the kitchen.

Soon after she left, Dike came in.

“Dinta oke enyim (Dinta my great friend), since you have refused to check on me, I decided to do so. How are you my good friend?”. Dike asked.

“I am well, how is your family?”. Responded Dinta.

“The gods be praised, they are doing well. I came to know if you have decided on what to do with Olamma the evil child”. He said lowering is voice.

“My child is not evil Dike, do not make such statements of my child again, else it will have a negative effect on our friendship”. Dinta responded aggressively.

“Dinta, do you realize you’re talking to me Dike the fearless? What wrong did I say? Is Olamma not am evil child?”. He replied angrily.

“Dike”.Dinta called standing up. “Get up and leave my compound before I do something stupid”.

Dike looked around while still seating and responded.

“I looked round to know if you were actually referring to me or someone else”. He said and laughed sadly.

“It is you I am referring to of course, it is just you and I here. Leave my house before I do something stupid”. Dinta warned again.

“I can see she has finally bewitched you and you have lost every sense of reasoning. I shall be back and when I do, you shall find it hot with me. Since you have refused to do away with that witch, I will help you do away with her. Do not dare me Dinta, you know I am a poisonous venom. I destroy whoever stands in my way”. Dike threatened.

“This is no time to make so much noise, if you have anything to do; keep it to yourself. And I warn you again for the last time, do not call my daughter a witch. Leave my compound”.

“We shall see”. Dike said snapping fingers together, then got up and left.

“We shall see nothing Dike, you have declared yourself my enemy and I shall treat you as such”. He told Dike while he was walking away.

Adanna, while cooking heard the men arguing and Olamma who was asleep cried aloud.

“Dim oma eehh (my good husband), please help me with Ola, my hands are stained”. Adanna pleaded from the kitchen.

“Don’t worry nwunyem (my wife), I will get her”. Dinta went to the hut where Ola laid and carried her. “Cry not my child, father is here now”. He said and sang a lullaby and then Ola smiled and laid calm on his body.

DIKE'S HUT

Dike was restless when he got home, he never thought Dinta would turn against him. He went into his shrine and consulted Oshimiri, the medicine man that works for him.

“Oshimiri the wise, Oshimiri the great. Your servant is here again to seek your face. I need your direction on what to do, Dinta my friend has joined forces with Olamma the evil child. The charm you gave to me against ogbanje’s is still very effective, but I need more fortification this time; my friend is now my worst enemy”. He said and performed some rituals and then Oshimiri appeared.

“Dike, you should not be afraid of your friend but Olamma. She is powerful and will serve as a protector to Dinta. They are both Reincarnated and the charm I gave you shall be effective for both of them. I do not know how powerful Dinta is, but he seems very powerful. Stretch forth your left hand”. He said and Dike stretched it and opened his palm, then a small calabash with some liquid content was placed in his hand. “Take this, drop a little content of it and apply it on your body, it shall make you invincible to your enemies whenever they strike. Remember, Olamma is peaceful and it is difficult to fight against a peaceful spirit. But this charm shall remain effective for you”. Oshimiri said and vanished.

DINTA'S HUT

His yam portage with bush meat was ready and served, he ate to his fill and washed it down with a keg of fresh palm wine. His wife watched him eat and was full of smiles, her husband ate with joy and was back to his normal self. When he was done eating, he went into his obi (resting hut) to relax, then his wife went in to discuss with him after he had rested enough.

“Nna anyi, your friendship with your friends mazi Dike is going sour, what is the problem?”. She asked.

“Dike has been the common enemy of this household, I thought he was a friend, but he proved not to be”. He replied.

“Make me understand nna anyi”. She told him.

“I shall make you understand my wife, we shall talk about it at night”. He replied softly.

“Okay nna anyi, let me allow you continue your rest”. She said and left.

OSHIMIRI'S SHRINE

Olamma appeared to Oshimiri in his shrine as the old woman.

“Why are you here Ola?”. Oshimiri asked as he expressed shock seeing Ola.

“Stay away from this battle, it is bigger than you; I shall not be kind with you if you insist”. Ola warned.

“I am not scared of you Ola, I am prepared for you and there is nothing you can do”. Oshimiri bragged.

“We shall see Oshimiri, I know the source of your power and that makes it easy to deal with you”. Ola said and vanished.

It then became a battle between Ola and Dinta vs Dike and Oshimiri.
