PRIVIOUSLY ON REINCARNATION

Dike laughed and tapped him by the shoulder. “Calm down my good friend, you will see again. Olamma is but a child, she was at my place last night to warn me again to stay away from you. After several verbal confrontations between us, I decided to use the charm prepared for me by Ijele nwanyi ike (Ijele the strong woman) on her. The charm was prepared specially for people like her, the ogbanje(s). She disappeared immediately I showed her the charm, what is happening to her is the result of the charm. She’s not going to survive it, but Ijele can make you see again. I shall lead you to Oshimiri, after which I shall take you to Ijele. Olamma must be destroyed”. Dike bragged.

They both left for Oshimir’s as Dike held him by the hand leading the way.

The battle line has been drawn between Dike and Olamma.

CONTINUATION

Dinta and Dike got to Oshimiri’s and were welcomed by the spiritualist.

“Olamma is sick again and the sickness this time is unusual, but one thing I am not certain about is if she would die. She has a very strong spirit and is even aware of your coming here. I am afraid, there is little or nothing I can do to help this time, she is for peace and needs to be allowed to live”. Oshimiri told them as they both expressed shock and surprise.

“You mean nothing can be done? Can’t you at least administer some medication on her?”. Dinta asked.

“What she’s going through now is beyond medication, she encountered a force as strong as hers, but what becomes of her afterwards I can’t tell. She her love Dinta, there is a reason she chose to return through you”. He added.

“Same thing Agbalanze told me, show her love, she kept coming back for a reason. Someone in your lineage wronged her in time past, she is over a hundred years old”. Dinta said as Oshimiri and Dike showed surprises.

“Agbalanze told you all that?”. Oshimiri asked.

“Yes, he did. But how I’m I to show love to someone who kept troubling my wife and I? She doesn’t mean well for us, I must find a way to end her return”. Said Dinta.

“Agbalanze is wise, the greatest of all. Listen to him, if Olamma is evil, she would have killed you and your wife. She only kills anyone who tries to stop her and anyone who fails to show her love. When she is shown love, she would tell you the reason she chose to return through your wife’s womb. You are a peaceful man Dinta and so also your wife, I believe that is the reason she chose her womb. Something went wrong in the past, she was greatly wronged by your great grand father, show Ola love; be at peace with her and she will tell you what you need to know”. Oshimiri concluded.

“I shall do as you’ve said Oshimiri, thank you so much”. Dinta said and stood up to leave, Dike followed him without a saying a word.

They walked through the bush path as Dinta thought deeply over what he was told by Oshimiri.

“We should be heading to Ijele’s”. Dike told him.

“Why? You heard all Oshimiri said, let me give it a try”. Dinta answered.

“Don’t tell me you are this dumb Dinta, are you not suppose to follow me to Ijele’s to get protection for yourself? Even if you decide to follow Ola with peace. You need protection and fortification my brother, Ola is no ordinary being”. Dike advised.

“You have a point Dike my brother, but Ijele’s resides far away from here, should we not leave at dawn to make it to his cave on time?. Dinta asked.

“Let us go Dinta, you and I need this potection and remember Ijele can make you see again. Do you not want your sight recovered? Anyone who wishes you well will not make you blind, let me lead you to Ijele for the sake of your sight”. He asked as that got Dinta’s attention.

“I really need to see again, please, lead me to Ijele”. Dinta accepted as Dike held him by the hand and led the way to Ijele’s.

ADANNA'S HUT, DINTA'S WIFE

Adanna sang lullabies to Olamma as she slept peacefully, she played with her long golden hair as she smiled while sleeping. She treated Olamma so well and showed her so much love, but Ola needs love from both couples to be able to express herself to them. While Ola slept, Adanna also fell asleep and had a dream.

She found herself in a thick forest with an old woman, the old woman has same face and semblance with Olamma. Adanna was shocked at the semblance she saw in the old woman.

“You look so much like my daughter Olamma, same hair, same face, same smile, same colour. Just like you are the one who gave birth to her. She has same marks you have on your body, even this one on your forehead. I would have said you are Ola if not that you are very old”. Adanna told the old woman.

She (The old woman smiled). “Really? Maybe I am Olamma”. She said smiling.

Adanna returned the smile. “Ola is just some days old child, so you can’t be Ola my daughter, but you so much look alike”. She added.

“Seems you love her so much”. The old woman asked.

“With my life, I love her. But Ola is an Ogbanje, she had returned to me five times and each time she turns seven, she dies. I do not know what to do to make her stay”. Adanna said.

“How do you know she’s an ogbanje?”. Asked the old woman.

“Whenever she falls sick, a mark is given to her and when I give birth to another child, she returns with same marks”. She told her.

The old woman smiled again. “All she needs from you is love and that is exactly what you’re doing, but she can’t stay if the love is not complete”. Said the old woman.

“What makes the love complete?”. Asked Adanna.

“She needs to be shown same love by your husband, by so doing, Ola will stay. I am Olamma, show me more love”. She said and disappeared, then Adanna jerked up and met Ola smiling at her so sweetly.

IJELE'S SHRINE

Dike led Dinta to Ijele’s shrine as he (Ijele) received them and performed some rituals.

“I know you’re here because of your sight, I can make you see again”. Ijele told Dinta as he smiled along with Dike.

“But one thing is required of you before you could be made to see again”. Ijele added.

“What could that be Ijele nwanyioma?”. Asked an anxious Dinta.

“Someone close to you is responsible for your blindness and only when you do away with the person shall you recover your sight”. Ijele told him.

“Who could that be Ijele nwanyioma?”. Asked Dinta again.

“Go home and do as I’ve said”. She added and went back into her cave.
