Fire God Of The Fire Island - Season 1 - Episode 22

A Fire of the Soul

“Ok”,
Loki said loudly as he clapped his hand together in front of himself. “Time for you to meditate and communicate with your Fire Beast. You know how to meditate, right?”
Kate nodded. It was one of the few things she could do rather well, actually. All Fire priestess and Priest knew how to meditate, it was something that they did regularly and had to maintain. There was even a process called Solitarily Flame Meditation where a Fire Priestess or Priest would trek to a cave upon the side of Obsidian Volcano and spend the entire night there meditating to the flames of the mountain. All Priestess had to successfully complete this task at some point in their lives, but it all depended on whether they felt ready or not.

Or, in extreme cases, the Royal family would command that they complete this task as an oracle of the Fire God. However, that hadn’t happened in quite some years and many had forgotten about it.

But, she had never really heard about using meditation to communicate with a Fire Beast before. Maybe it was just second nature to a Priestess. She’ll have to ask Laura about it sometime later. If she could find a way to communicate with Nootau Chatan, the Fire Hawk, then surely Luara would have found a way to talk to her Fire Beast.

It was actually kinda exciting.

“I’l keep an eye out for anymore foxes”, Loki said as he placed his hands on his hips, giving Kate a reassuring look. “So you don’t have to worry. If anything happens, I will protect you”. Kate felt her heart give a fluttering beat at the words. Having someone so easily say that they’ll protect you and mean it was something she couldn’t put into words. It was nice to have someone watch over her, someone who didn’t know her.

And, well, she believed him. She knew that Loki would protect her if anything should happen.

“Alright”,
Kate uttered as she lowered herself to the ground and folded her legs underneath her.

Taking a deep breath, she loosened her shoulders and relaxed her posture. When she was confortable, she slowly closed her eyes, entering a world of darkness with her face serene, her chin up, Kate looked into her eyelids as though she was seeing with her eyes open. It was a different step some, as the nature want to flutter your eyes open was quite strong. But Kate mastered it easily.

Emptying one’s mind to order to meditate was also difficult, but Kate found it easily if she comcemtrated on the point in the middle of her forehead, also known as the Spiritual Third Eye.

By passing any thoughts, Kate concentrated on her eyelids, allowing herself to fall deeper and deeper into the darkness, leaving form, name and all activities behind. Soon, she saw a grey haze appear in the void, like smoke dance upon the wind. Kate lifted her hand and allowed the smoke to curl around her fingers. She could hear the crackling of Fure now and she knew that she reached her mediative state.

A spark in the distance sparkled before coming closer and closer. Soon, the roaring of flames was heard and the spark turned into an inferno. But Kate wasn’t afraid. She had no reason to be afraid anymore.

It was so warm.

“Nootau Chatan”, Kate whispered, her Fire Beast’s name falling from her lips.

Before her, the mystical fire hawk appeared, her wings of flames gently illuminating the darkness into a regal glow. Two red eyes, the colour of rubies, look down upon her; so wise and majestic.

‘Kate’……

A soft gasp escaped Kate’s lips when she heard her name from her Fire Beast. She was in a state of awe, she felt tears string at her eyes. This was amazing, hearing the voice of Nootau Chatan. How she could have such magnificence as her Fire Beast, she was petty sure she was unworthy.

Still, it was amazing and was so greateful for the opportunity. If only she had known before, she could have spent years communicating with Nootau Chatan. Her time was short on the earth. She knew that. She knew her responsibilities and she her fate. But sometimes, in moments of weakness, she wished that she could have a future to look forward to.

Suddenly, Nootau Chatan lowered her head just a little, her wings moving to enfold around Kate’s form, Kate blinked at the wings, a sense of uncertainly touching her. She looked up at Nootau Chatan thinking that, perhaps, she had something important to tell her.

‘You had, before your birth, only the intentions such as being happy, being an uplifter, having continual growth……..but the specific processes to achieve those things are up to you to decide here within the present’.

Kate was silent at first, her brow furrowing in a state of bewilderment. She heard the words and she heard them clearly, but she didn’t understand them. What did Nootau Chatan mean? She was destined to become the Peace Keeper from birth, her inherited intentions to ensure the safety of the people of Fire Island.

“I……….I don’t really understand”, she said, her tone lost and confused.
