A sure- Fire Cure

“Listen carefully”, Loki said as he led her over to the dying creature, the fox giving a rather weak and pathetic snarl as they came closer but made no attempt to run away or attack. It simply did not have the energy. “I’ll guide you through this”.

Kate tugged at Loku’s wrist, wanting to get away. It wasn’t a good idea. She could barely control her Spell Binding Circle, how could she possible control her abilities enough to save a creature? She didn’t want to be responsible for its death! She couldn’t stand the thought of killing another living being, even if it was merely killing.

“I…I can’t”

“Yes, you can”, Loki reassured, pulling her to the ground in front of the fox, of which was now lying unmoving on the sandy soil. It was near death. “I’m here with you, remember?”
Kate swallowed thickly and sunk down to her knees, close to Loki as possible. “….Right”
Okay, she had to have a bit more faith in herself, like Loki said yesterday. Have more trust in her abilities. She could do it. With Loke with her, she could save this creature’s life.

Loki moved behind her, pressing his chest against Kate’s back. Kate felt her cheeks heat up at the contact, a slight shiver of that familarity racing down her spine.

She didn’t have time to ponder that familarity as Loki shifted and seemed to wrap his arms around her. He moved around so that his large hands were resting on top of Kate’s. Together, they gently touch the fox, holding it down and keeping it still so it wouldn’t hurt itself or them.

“Now, close your eyes”, Loki whispered into her ear, his warm breath tickling her ear.

Obediently, Kate did just that, knowing without a doubt that whatever will happen, Loki would not let harm come to her. She was safe with Loki safe in his arms and in his presence. Loki wanted her to trust him that she did. And that was what she was doing.

“It’s important for you to identify which intentions you must want to fulfil”, Loki whispered to her. “As you prioritise, you give your singular attention to what is most important. And in return, you attract the power into that intention this is most important to you”.

What was her intention for the moment? To save this animal’s life. Simple really.

“Will you save this creature’s life?” Loki asked her.

“I will”, Kate replied firmly.

“Then do it”.

Suddenly, a strange tingling s£nsat!on was felt all over Kate’s body; it was intense and heated. It started at the very top of her head and radiated down her body to her toes like waves. She felt warmth reach her very fingertip.

It was an odd s£nsat!on. She wouldn’t say it was uncomfortable and it didn’t exactly hurt; it just felt exceptionally strange. It burnt but it wasn’t a burning s£nsat!on.

As the tingling feeling in her fingers increased, she imagined placing that power into the dying fox body, willing it to live for a bit longer.

Words formed within her mind’s eye and they fell from her lips like a gentle whisper. “Gift of Fire- Eternal Flame”,
Abruptly, the heat in her hands disappeared, rushing from her hands so quickly that her fingers felt cold and numb. But she still feel a light s£nsat!on of heat being admitted, but to the Fox under her hands.

Opening her eyes, Kate pulled her hands away from the creature and felt her breath hitch in her throat.

Did it work?

Suddenly, the fox sprung to its feet as if it was brought back to life! It looked at Kate with its dark eyes and flicked its ear back, its head quirking to the side. It was almost as if it was silently thanking her for what she had done. Then, it turned around and bounded back into the bushes, full of life and energy. It was hard to believe that it was on the verge of death.

Did she really do that?
