Fire God Of The Fire Island - Season 1 - Episode 13

☆☆

Beginning of the Fire Lesson a
Kate found herself standing in a grassy field that was out of sight of both the Fire Temple and the Fire Palace. There was a patch of sand in the middle of the grass that gave the appearance that this was once a training field. A light breeze ruffled her hair causing the darken strands to brush feather light touches against her cheeks as the smell of the sea touched her senses. It was secluded and peaceful, away from the prying eyes of her elders and royal guards.

But it was still within the shadow of the mighty Volcano, standing tall and proud in the background.

It was a beautiful location and it surprised her how she never knew of this place before.

“Right, first thing first”, Loki stated as he literally brought Kate back to the reality of her situation, taking her by the arm and leading her to stand at the edge of the sandy patch.

Kate blinked, but allowed herself to be pulled along. After all, she wasn’t here to sight see; she was here to train with her almost non-existent fire abilities.

“Let’s see your Spell Binding Circle”.

Kate however, only sighed. The Spell Binding Circle was a spell to be used at the beginning of each battle, encircling the Spell Caster in a protective Fiery barrier. Despite it being the first Spell cast, it was one of the most difficult to control. But what made it even more difficult to learn was the fact that there was no incantation to say. Each Fire User had their own unique chant to call and the method of learning the chant was varied.
And so, it was a difficult spell to master and if Loki wanted to start with that, Kate knew that this was going to a very long day.

“What is it?”
Loki asked, tilting his hand to the side in question. “You don’t know it?”

“Kinda”,
Kate said as she fidgeted slightly, feeling somewhat subconscious under Loki’s gaze. “I know a few words, but I can’t really contain it probably yet”.

The only words she could really understand from her dreams and meditations were Candles of Fire, which didn’t mean very much as candles were the carries of fire. But really made her nevous were the memories she had of the first time she tried to call upon her Spell Binding Circle.

The flames..they were so fierce and uncrotrollable, she almost burnt Laura who had tried to help her. She hadn’t tried since, despite Laura being so supportive and telling her that it happened to every Fire User.

She couldn’t help but be worried that it may happen again.

“No worries”,
Loki said, pulling Kate out of her thoughts. He then flashed her his carefree smile and moved to stand quite a few yards away from her, on the other end of then sandy patch. Just let it all out, I can take care of myself if anything happens”

“Huh?”
Kate stuttered

“You’re worried about hurting others, aren’t you?”
Loki asked, his grin softening into an understanding smile, placing one hand on his hip as the other hung limply by his side. “You’re holding yourself back”.

Kate felt herself blush. H-how did Loki guess that she was worried? Was she that easy to read? But, by the way he said it; it was almost as if Loki read her mind. But no, that would be impossible..right?

“Now, I demand that you stop that”, Loki said firmly as he straightened his posture. “My Spell Binding Circle can protect me, so stop worrying”.

“Ah, ok”,
Kate found herself stuttering again.

“Good”, Loki said with a grin before turning oddly subdued and serious “Now, I want you to close your eyes”.

Swallowing thickly, Kate nodded and allowed her eyes to slip close plunging her word into darkness as a Fire Priestess, pressing the palms of her hands together in prayer in front of her b----t and lowering her chin, bowing her head respectfully.

Centre oneself, concentrate on your breathing. Breathe in.. Breathe out..

“Detach yourself from your fears”,
Loki’s voice floated in her as the noise of nature slowly began to drown out around her; the sound of the wind, the smell of the sea salty air, the feel of the sun’s radiant warmth, all fading away.

“Imagine a flaming sword cutting your attachment to any fear you hold”.

Within her mind’s eyes, Kate imagined that her fear and painful memories of her failed training were attached to her like a weight that was holding her back.

She then took a sword of fire and gold, and with one swing, one slow and deliberate motion, she severed the ties her fear had upon her. The flaming sword cut through the binds effortlessly, the chains falling away and disappearing into the darkness.

And instantly, Kate felt the weight drop away, the burden lifted gladly from her shoulders. She felt instantly lighter.

“Focus solely on the warmth and compassion in your heart”.

Suddenly, she could hear a soft noise, a gentle spark..No, a gentle crackle of fire, almost like a comforting camp fire. And she could feel it too, the radiant heat from the flames touching the skin of her cheeks.

The sound was getting louder and louder, but, the heat stayed comforting.
