Must Read: Awkward Ways I Met Girls

The next day, Vicky had gone to see her siblings and had told them her suspicions. She requested they got a private investigator. There was one at Utako. Coming from Wuse, when you get to Utako bus-stop and cross over, there is a complex before MFM. There’s a filling station in between.

Here, on the second floor is a private investigator. He got on the work.

Somehow I had been wondering why such a wealthy man whom I know is worth billions would be killed for a paltry 400 million in total? There had to be more.

Apparently, more documents were even missing.

Shares certificates, et al.

And his old undergraduate friend who owned Sodan Law Services had also confided in Vicky that he had altered his will about a month ago. Unfortunately there was nothing the lawyer could do about that.

It wasn’t long before they found out that most of their father’s properties had either changed names or gone missing. Mrs Maggy Carte-Adoh is even on Board of Directors in one of his companies.

Still in his Will, more had been given to her. She had covertly taken over most of Mr Carte-Adoh’s estates.

When the detective eventually came up with his own findings later on, it was revealed that Vicky’s mom had a child out of wedlock, when she was 17. This nobody ever knew about this. He had also done a very good job to find out things at the hospital.

But unknown to anyone else, Vicky went to the police to invite her for questioning.

Does Vicky have any proof?..

Fast forward to the day they were to have the Will read by the lawyer.

The day the drama ended. The day the dots connected…

They were all settled for the reading of Will by the lawyer at their house, and in fact it had started. I came from the office and was waiting in outside when the police arrived. Two men in mufti and four men in uniform. They arrived in two police vans and an unmarked sedan.

Without much ado, they headed to the door.

A knock on the door later, the door flung open and Vicky appeared at the door. She stepped aside, and the officers went in. I hurried in after them. Couldn’t miss any of this.

The leader of the pack introduced himself to the bewildered eyes all seated looking up at him.

Anyone would wonder what the police came to do at a reading of Will.

The uninvited guest spoke up:

“My name is Inspector Ayiri. I am from the Criminal Investigation Department.” As he flashed his ID.

The he turned to Mrs Mag Carte-Adoh who was silently sitting on her wheelchair, dressed in mourning black.

“Mrs Magret Carte-Adoh, you are under arrest for the murder of Mr Michael Carte-Adoh. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can/will be used against you in court of law”
The look on the faces of the family members seated there was beyond disbelief.

As two officers moved to cuff her and wheel her away, someone spoke up
“Wait a minute officer, there is a mix up somewhere. This can’t be…”

He hadn’t finished when Vicky stepped forward and went to the wheelchair.

Standing in front of her mom, to the utter shock of everyone, she suddenly grabbed the mom by the hands and pulled her off the wheelchair!!!

The woman did not see that coming, so instinctively, by reflex she staggered two steps forward before she fell to the ground with a thump.

It was silence through the whole room. You could hear a pin drop as the shocked audience looked on.

Not at Vicky. But at the woman on the floor.

If your limps can support you, how did you stagger before falling. All eyes on her.

Everywhere was silent. The lawyer looked on, the police looked on, the seated family members (seven in total) looked on as Mrs Mag Carte-Adoh managed herself out of the shock. But will never regain herself.

The look on her face changed in a twinkle of an eye from a mourning widow helplessly seated on a wheelchair to the fearless face of a viper.

I was shocked to see the woman begin to stand up slowly. Without a word, but with the look of a mean killer. Though I wasn’t as shocked as the audience.

At this point they couldn’t take it anymore, as I heard someone shout
“Haaaaaaaa!!!!”
She raised her head and held it high in confidence, without any iota of weakness in her eyes. This woman could pass for a serial killer.
An officer stepped forward and put the cuffs on her. Held her by the arm and led her outside, to the waiting sedan.

Now, I could see the shock in people’s faces had changed to horror. And fear.

The all caring, lovable and adorable woman?!

Vicky and I followed closely behind as the policemen guided her mom into the vehicle and whisked her away!
Vicky turned to me with a face on her face
“Thank you”
“I would never have believed your mom could…”
“She’s not my mom” Vicky cut in with a calm and stern voice. I needn’t be told to erase that from my vocabulary.
“So what would you like to do?” She asked with a smile.
For a brief moment, I thought I caught wind of that s£duct!on in the smile.
Wait a minute, did she just wink at me? Okay, or maybe not. But…
Hmmm…
