Must Read: Awkward Ways I Met Girls

I was still on the balcony but feeling like I was missing something and was about to go back in when the door opened a third time. A girl stepped into the balcony.

Chocolate skinned. You know, not dark yet, not fair. That milky brown color.

‘Nice’ I said to myself. And she looked simple.

Her dressing was cool and modest. No cleavages showing at her cinema, her gown was down to her knee.

She looked very appealing to me. Her gown captured her good looking shape and showed an expressly flat tummy. Flat as a table top.

“Hi” I uttered. With a raised hand
“Hi” she said plainly.
She looked sternly at the road below. And before I could engage her in a talk, the door opened again. It was Vera. I had met Vera once before. She’s Josh’s girlfriend.
The girl turned to face Vera.
“Why didn’t you tell me this is the kind of place we were coming”
“How do you mean” Vera returned
“You know I don’t like people that smoke. See the air in there”
“Is that why you called me out? Take it easy girl. We’re just here to have fun, that’s all”
The girl wasn’t having that for a reply and before anything else, an argument had ensued.
I was there listening to them but looking straight below at the some people practicing with skates.
“Stag what’s up” Vera was saying so I turned to them
“What’s up now. I can see you were busy with your friend”
“I didn’t even know it was you standing there. Why are you not inside, come in naw”
“I’m coming in, just taking fresh air”
“But its just cigarettes. Wait until SK begins and maybe then the real fun will begin”
“I guess so” I said
We both laughed. Then she said
“Or maybe you can keep Vicky busy a for while. She thinks we are in Sin City” Vera said.

With a hiss her friend, Vicky, walked right out on us, back into the room.
Vera shrugged and followed her in.

After a brief hesitation, I went inside. It was a full blown party. Ifeanyi girlfriend had brought out the rice and snacks in the fridge and warmed it up with the micro. So in just a few minutes, people were eating, dancing, drinking and inevitably with Ifeanyi and Femi, smoking. Josh was eating and Tunde became the makeshift DJ and glued to the TV playing Pro Evolution Soccer.

The ladies were obviously enjoying themselves too, except one. Vicky.

The center table had stubs, empty cans of power horse drink, chocolate bar wrappers and other snacks.

Everybody was talking to everybody trying to hear themselves above the music. I just walked to the sound system and reduced the volume. To a level everyone could hear themselves.
Which seemed reasonable.

More than that, which could allow me talk to Vicky.

Without much ado, I walked to where she sat and attacked her
“Why did you walk on us like that?”
She raised an eyebrow.

“Me? Walk out on you? I walked out on my friend, not you”
“Okay, but you look very angry at things around. Maybe you should drink something to calm a bit”
“Thanks but no. I don’t drink any of these”
“What would you rather have then”
“Don’t bother. Obviously there’s no soft drinks here”
“Oh Sorry!” I laughed and continued
“It wasn’t a planned party. Actually, its just friends hanging out in another friend’s crib.”
“Its okay” she said
“My name is Stag. I heard Vera call you Vicky” she nodded
With that I just said “ok” and went into the kitchen
I checked the fridge and there was no soft drinks there. When I came out, the drink was finishing and Ifeanyi went out to the balcony. He called Mohammed, one of the guard’s friends at the gate who helped run some errands.

When he came, ifeanyi described a mini-mart around and scribbled something on a piece of paper, then gave him some money. He turned and left. I guessed he was to buy more drinks.
I followed immediately and met him on the stairs, I added money and asked for two bottles of coke.

Not long later, he returned with the things and Ifeanyi took the bag from him. I looked into it and was shocked, so I told him the other drinks were for Lola.

He looked surprised and laughed out hard, when he regained himself he joked
“Oh boy! You should have told us you have a new wife”
Josh, Vera and Femi laughed. Vicky and the other girl whom I hadn’t met just stared on.

I took the drinks and gave one to Vicky, then set the other one down on the table since the other girl, whom I later knew to be Ann, was enjoying herself with a mix of energy drinks and alcohol.
The party went on nicely. The guys had reduced the smoking and were now thoroughly drunk. So was Vera and Ann. In fact Ifeanyi, Femi and Josh had started talking dirty and making adult jokes and Vera, Ann, and the other ladies except Vicky were all laughing to the lewd jokes.

They even joked about how nice it would have an Fun. Anyways, nothing serious, just jokes in high mood.

Vicky had also loosened up a bit. Tunde had hurried back down before his father got home.

Now it was time for the girls to go and I didn’t hesitate to collect Vicky’s phone number and BBM PIN. By this time we had gotten comfortable talking with each other, so she didn’t put up any attitude when I asked for her pin.

Also, by this time, Vera had engineered some kind of game I didn’t understand. She had started calling me and Vicky ‘husband and wife’.

I also took Vera’s. I never had hers.
It was 9pm, Vicky and friends left.
