Episode 4: The Ink Trap

How far would a fake friend go to steal a good husband?

The house that once held nothing but love and laughter had become a place of deep shadows. The walls seemed to close in on Bisi and Tunde, holding the weight of all the secrets and lies that were blooming like dark flowers in their once-happy home. The sadness grew darker and heavier with every passing hour. It was as if a thick fog had settled over their lives, making it impossible for them to see the truth.

Bisi and Tunde, who used to be inseparable, now moved through their house like strangers in a war zone. They started to argue every single night. The smallest things, like how the dishes were washed or what time the lights went out, became giant battles. They were very unhappy because of all the lies Lola was feeding them every single day.

Lola was a master at her game. She would spend her mornings whispering poisoned words to Tunde about how Bisi was losing respect for him, and her afternoons whispering to Bisi about how Tunde was planning to leave her. She played both sides perfectly, acting as the shoulder to cry on for both of them. She was the one who stoked the fires of their anger, ensuring that the flames never died down.

Then, Lola decided it was time for a new, bolder trick. She knew something very specific about Bisi. It was a small detail, but to Lola, it was a weapon. Bisi hated the smell of a very strong, flowery perfume. It was a specific brand that was heavy and sharp. It always made Bisi feel very dizzy and sick. She had told Lola this secret many years ago when they were just little girls playing with their mothers' makeup. Lola had kept that memory in the back of her mind, waiting for the perfect time to use it.

So, Lola went to the market. She walked from shop to shop until she found that exact same perfume. She bought the biggest bottle she could find. She went home and carefully poured it into her bag and onto her clothes. She sprayed it all over her body before heading to the house of Bisi and Tunde. She wanted to make sure the scent was so strong that it would fill every room they walked into.

When she arrived, Bisi was in the kitchen trying to calm her nerves with a cup of tea. Tunde was in the living room, staring at his phone. Lola walked inside, and the smell of the perfume hit the room like a physical blow. It was cloying and thick.

Bisi felt her stomach turn the moment Lola stepped through the doorway. "Lola? Is that... is that perfume?" Bisi asked, her voice tight.

Lola smiled sweetly, hiding her true intentions. "Oh, yes! Do you like it? Tunde once mentioned that he liked women who wore strong, floral scents. I thought I would try something new today.

Lola walked past Bisi and went straight to the living room. She stood very close to Tunde. She moved with a calculated grace, leaning in whenever she spoke to him. She made sure that every time Tunde looked her way, he was hit with that heavy, sweet smell. She hoped that if she wore it enough, Tunde would start to associate the smell with her, and eventually, he would start to like her sweet smell more than he liked the memory of his own wife.

Bisi walked into the living room a few minutes later. The smell was even stronger there. She felt like she was going to faint. She looked at Tunde, who was talking to Lola. He seemed distracted, and Bisi immediately felt a spark of jealousy. She thought he was enjoying the attention.

"Lola, could you please go outside? The smell is making me sick," Bisi said, her voice shaking with frustration.

Tunde looked up, tired and irritated. "Bisi, leave her alone. She is just wearing perfume. Why are you always picking fights?"

Bisi felt a sharp stab of hurt. "You know how much I hate that smell! Why are you defending her?"

Tunde sighed, rubbing his temples. "I am not defending her. I am just tired of the constant complaining. Everything I do, everything she does, you find a reason to scream!"

Bisi looked at the perfume bottle sitting on the table. She thought Tunde had bought it for Lola to make her mad. She thought it was a cruel game he was playing to punish her for their arguments. She exploded in a fit of rage. She yelled at Tunde, her words coming out like a flood. She accused him of being disrespectful, of wanting to hurt her, and of planning to replace her.

Tunde was innocent of the crime, but he was so fed up with the lack of trust that he could not stay calm. He yelled back. He told her that he was tired of her wild accusations and her constant suspicion. Their beautiful home, which used to be their sanctuary, was now full of shouting and tears. It was a battlefield of broken hearts.

Tunde was getting very tired of this endless war. He felt like he was living with a stranger. Every time he tried to make things right, something happened to make it worse. He did not know that his best friend was the one pulling the strings behind his back. He did not know that the woman he thought was a sister to his wife was actually a monster who wanted his entire life.

Tunde got up and went to the kitchen. He saw the perfume bottle on the table. It was still there, a reminder of the night before. He looked at it and felt a surge of anger. He picked it up and threw it into the trash. He was done. He was tired.

Tunde nodded slowly. He didn't see the trap. He didn't see the web that was being spun around him. He just saw a friend. A friend who seemed to be the only one who understood his pain.

Lola felt a thrill. It was working. She was becoming his confidante. She was becoming the person he turned to when his own wife became a stranger.

She looked at Bisi, who was standing by the sink, looking lost and alone. She felt no pity. She only felt a cold, hard sense of accomplishment.

The stage was set for the next move. She had pushed them to the edge, and now, she just had to wait for them to fall. She was the ink in the trap, and she was watching as the last few drops began to dry.

Would he finally give up on his marriage, or would he find out the hidden truth very soon enough to win?

The story was entering its most intense phase.
