{
SPOILING HER FAVORITE PATIENT }

“Please don’t hurt me. I promise to be a good girl.” The little girl cried, kneeling in front of the monster.

He smirked and advanced towards the bathtub, turning on the faucet and watched as water started filling up the bathtub.

The girl breathing grew heavily as she watched him prepare another means to torture her.

It was always like this. Each day, he would bring her to this room just to torture her in different ways. It has become a daily routine.

Would she ever be able to escape this monster? This pain? This plague?

Has he not done enough already? Is it until she drop dead one day, he would decide to rest?

Her mother hasn’t returned home from work. She was a doctor and always busy in the hospital.

Moreover, it’s not like if she was around she would be able to stop the beast from hurting her daughter.

The woman couldn’t even fight for herself talk more of fighting for another.

The bathtub was filled with water when he shut off the faucet and turned to stare at the whimpering child.

She stood up on shaking feet, moving back, and creating a safe distance between the both of them. However, he crossed that safe distance and stood right in front of her, leaving no breathing space for her.

There was no way to escape the hell that was made of walls.

She thought of running out of the room but that option would have been hopeful if only he didn’t lock the fuc-k ing door.

“What did I tell you about crying, honey?” He raised a questioning brow.

“I’m sorry.” She sniffled and started wiping off the tears on her face. “I won’t cry again. I promise not to cry. But please don’t hurt me.” She begged, but her emotions betrayed her as fresh tears started rolling down her face.

He cli-cked his tongue, shaking his head.

“This is one thing I hate about you, honey. You cry a lot. Just like your mother.”

“I’m…sorry.” She apologized, kneeling down once again. “I won’t cry. I promise to be a strong girl like you want me to be.”

They say; ‘Never make a promise you can’t keep.’ But what if you have no other choice than to make such a promise? What if making the promise was your only chance at survival?

“Good,” A psychotic grin that sent shivers down the child’s spine appeared on his face as he snatched her wrist, rou-ghly, not caring whether he was inflicting pain on her or not. “Because by the time I am done with you,” He started dragging her from behind towards the bathtub filled with water. “there would be no tears for you to spill.” And with that being said, he tossed her inside the water, holding her down inside the water so she wouldn’t be able to come up to the surface.

The world was like a place of void. All she saw was darkness. All she heard was silence. It was like she was in a confiscated box with no way out. Although she has been locked up in a confiscated box by this monster to know that there was a different between the box and this place.

She struggled to break away from his tight grip but it was only a waste of time. Her strength was nothing compared to his.

She squee-zed her eyes shut, settling down. She can’t keep fighting. It was pointless.

Has her time to die finally here? Is this the part where she tells the world a goodbye?

“Abby!” She suddenly heard a voice and somebody was shaking her shoulders as if trying to wake her up. “Abby, open your eyes. Abby!”

It wasn’t the voice of the monster.

It was someone else. A familiar voice…

Emma?

Abby opened her eyes, drawing de-ep breaths into her lungs as she quickly sat upright and looked around her surroundings.

There was no bathtub or water.

She was currently seated on her bed, sweating profusely.

“Abby, look at me,” She heard the voice again and moved her gaze to the source.

“Emma,” She called out in a husky voice.

“Are you alright?” Emma asked, tears trailing down her face as she cupped Abby’s face. “How do you feel?”

“I’m terrified…” Abby sincerely answered. “He would come back to hurt me, right?”

“He won’t. I won’t let him get anywhere close to you, Abby. Well, that was if he was still alive.” Emma ran her thumb over Abby’s cheeks, wiping off the sweat.

Abigail shook her head in disagreement, getting out of the bed and in the process, pulling herself away from her best friend.

“I can’t do this. I can’t be…here.” She muttered and quickly slide under the bed.

Emma cried silently, sitting down on the floor to take a better look at her friend.

“He won’t come anywhere close if I’m here.” Abby stated, balling herself up. “He won’t find me here…”

Emma couldn’t hold it in anymore, she rushed out of the room and went downstairs, sobbing loudly now.

She sat at the bottom of the stairs, crying her eyes out for her friend’s sake.

It was 3:30 am when she heard screams from Abby’s room. She thought they were under attack or something and quickly grabbed her gun, dashing to Abby’s room only to find out that Abby was having one of those horrible nightmares.

Emma dropped her gun beside her on the step and ran her fingers throu-ghher hair.

She didn’t want to cry in the presence of Abby because one, Abigail can’t cry. And two, she needed to be strong for the both of them.

She wished there was a way she can help her friend get rid of the nightmares. She wished she can protect Abby from that horrible man. She wished there was something she can do…

“That bastard… I swear if he wasn’t dead, I would have killed him myself!” She said out loud sniffling. “I hate you for hurting Abby.”

Abby descended the stairs, yawning loudly.

“Good morning!” Emma greeted cheerfully, smiling.

“Good morning to you too, Em. How was your night?”

“Good.” Both of them were obviously trying to avoid talking about the incident that happened last night. “What about yours?”

Abby shrugged.

“Fine. You are up so…early.” She noted, changing the subject immediately.

“It’s Saturday, babe. We rarely stay at home. And I feel like cleaning the house this morning.” She simply replied.

“I see.” Abby strolled inside the kitchen and after a few minutes, she returned to the living room with a mug of steaming coffee. “You know, it’s nice to have a break from work.”

“I second to that.”

They both chuckled.

Abigail took a sip of coffee and let out a de-ep breath.

“So…uhm…about last night…” Abby began but Emma cut her off.

“You don’t have to explain yourself, babe.” She said.

“I must have looked like a fool. Gosh. I can’t believe I went to sleep under the bed in your presence. How stupid I must have looked in front of you.” She muttered.

“Abby,” Emma closed the distance between them. “You are not a fool and neither are you stupid.” She paused. “And you shouldn’t be embarra-ssed in front of me. I am your best friend and I will never judge you.”

“I just…” Abby’s voice trailed off and her hands started trembling.

Emma collected the mug from her grasp and dropped it on the table beside them.

“Hey, today should be a beautiful and happy day. We are going to have a lot of fun. No to every negative vibe.” She winked.

Abigail chuckled and nodded her head.

“You are right. No to negative vibe!” She agreed, smiling.

“Good girl.”

“Oh, did I tell you that I will be going out this evening?”

“This evening?”

“Yes.”

“To where? Are you having night duty?”

“No. But I asked someone out for dinner.”

Emma eyes wide-ned and she gasped out loud. “You are lying! Really?”

“Get your head out of the gutters, Emma. It is nothing special.”

“Mm-hmm. Nothing special indeed. Who is it?”

“Nah, I’m not going to answer that.” Abby started climbing the stairs alongside her friend.

“Come on, who is it? Do I know him? Is he a colleague? Why are you even blus-hing? You like him, don’t you?”

Abby quickly stormed inside her room and closed the door, shutting Emma out.

“Answer me, Abby! Who is the prince charming that finally swayed your heart?” Emma asked from the other side of the door.

“Go and clean the house, Emma. Or else I’m going to ask you questions about Robert. Wanna try?” Abby threatened.

“Of course not. I will leave you to do your business while I do mine.” Emma quickly left.

Abby smiled, shaking her head at her friend’s silliness as she grabbed her phone and texted Thelma.
