“Its not what you think Francis! I don’t know this guy. You can read his mind and confirm” Joanna said, whispering the last part to him.

“I know you would want to deny what we have in front of your boyfriend but doing that in front of me is callous” the stranger said starring at them both.

“What nonsense are you spewing? I don’t know you, have never met you in my…..”

“He is not lying Joanna!” Francis voice beside her got her turning to him.

“He isn’t lying. What he thinks is what comes out of his mouth ” Francis said having read his thoughts.

“But I swear I don’t know him, you’ve got to trust me” She said taking hold of his hand.

“Trust you? If you remember I called you last night, I asked where you were and you told me you were home” Francis began and she couldn’t help but to remember the time he called her.

After Linda’s persuasion for her to go into the club, she had done that and feeling out of place amongst Linda friends, she decide to leave.

She was on her way out when Francis had called her and not wanting him to be worried, she had lied that she was home.

“I felt that you were lying and went to your home to ask of you and Kylie told me about your outing to the club. I was saddened that you chose to lie and called you again hoping you would tell me the truth but still, you lied. I was at your house Joanna and yet you lied saying you were home when you weren’t!” He said.

“That’s because I knew you were worried about me, I didn’t want you to keep on being worried” Joanna replied with tears in her eyes.

“Or perhaps you were with him” Francis murmured.

“Francis you need to trust me, I don’t know him” Joanna stated.

“I don’t know what to think right now! I don’t know what to believe, I just….want to be left alone” he said before walking off.

“I think it’s best that I leave” The stranger said as he quickly walk off too leaving Joanna standing there alone.

“I never sent the text” Mirabel said starring at Joanna and Alice as they all stood in an empty cla-ss.

“That’s impossible, you sent me the text saying I should come see you at the club yesterday ” Joanna said showing the text to Mirabel.

“I didn’t, it must probably be the person that stole my phone” Mirabel answered.

“Someone stole your phone?”Alice asked.

“Yes, two days ago. I didn’t tell you about it because i thought it meaningless but I regret it now, if you had known that it wasn’t me texting you, you wouldn’t have gone to the club” Mirabel said hating the fact that someone had used her phone right after stealing it to cause trouble.

“Someone is framing me and have got to know who it is” Joanna said.

“Then we start by going back to the club, this whole mess started from there” Alice added.

“If we can prove that you left the club without this guy then we will be able to get your name cleared” Mirabel added.

“And the only way to do that is by checking the CCTV footage” Joanna chipped in while the other two nodded.

“What about Linda? Have you called her” Alice asked.

“I did but she isn’t picking” Joanna replied.

“That’s odd” Mirabel muttered even as they went out of the empty clas-sheading to the club.

∆ CLUB HOUSE ∆

“This place is too crowdy” Mirabel said as they walk throu-ghsome people who were dancing wildly to the song that was being played.

“It is” Alice muttered as they got to the counter to order some thing to drink.

“So what did you do while you were in the club with Linda last night?” Mirabel asked.

“Well she took me to join a few of her friends and though I didn’t want it, I had two gla-sses of margarita and when I couldn’t take it anymore, I decided to leave” Joanna told them.

“If we work out the time you left the club and the time you arrived home then we’ve gotten the prove we need” Mirabel said.

“But the only way is by us getting into the control room and watching the footage of last night” Joanna added.

“Which is why am going to take a look around and see what I can find, I will be right back” Alice added before walking off to join the crowd.

It was a while later that she arrived and the look on her face made Joanna feel that there’s hope.

“This is our chance now, let’s hurry” Alice said to them and immediately they followed her.

When they got into the CCTV footage room, Joanna and Mirabel was surprised to find no one there.

“What happen? Why isn’t there someone here?” Joanna asked.

“They’ve all gone out to stop a fight outside and since no one is here, we can just do our thing” Alice said moving towards the computer to search for yesterday footage.

“So what time did you arrive yesterday?” Alice asked and quickly Joanna told her.

Alice quickly found the footage and cli-ck into it.

“You really have a knack for this kind of thing” Mirabel commented making Alice smile.

“Watching too many dramas have made me an expert” Alice replied as they all watch how Linda pulled Joanna into the club.

They were still watching when they heard a footstep.

“Who the hell are you and how come you are here?” One of the security guards said as the three of them move away from the computer.

“We….we only wanted to see a footage of last night” Joanna replied.

“Our friend here is being framed for something and we’ve got to watch that footage to find out the truth” Mirabel added.

“That can’t be done, I suggest you all leave” the guard said sheepishly.

“Please sir! It’s a matter of life and death, we’ve got to know the truth” Alice said taking hold of the guard hand.

“Have told you that I can’t do a thing” He replied pulling his hand while also pushing Alice in the process.

“You didn’t have to do that!” Joanna yelled at him as they help Alice off the floor.

“She held me first and I was only trying to pull away. Get out of here before I call the guards on you” The guard said.

“Won’t you reconsider sir, we’ve really got to watch that footage” Mirabel said.

“That’s it, have had enough of you ” he said as he began to push them out of the room.

“Leave them alone!” A voice ordered by the door way and when the three girls turn to see who it was they were surprised to see Pierce there.

“And who the hell are you?” The security guard asked even as Pierce walk towards them.

“Seems like you are a new face here” Pierce said starring at the guard who still gawk at him in confusion.

“If you all don’t get out of here, I will call the bouncers to come pull you…..”

“Boss!” Another security guard who had heard of Pierce arrival yell out as he came running in.

“Boss” the arrogant Security guard asked starring at Pierce.

“How come you are the boss?” Joanna voiced out.

“Am not initially the boss but my father owns this place” Pierce replied now making the security guard understand.

“Am sorry sir, I didn’t know ” the rude guard apologised quickly.

“Am sorry boss, he’s new here” The second guard said eyeing the first one.

“It’s okay and also I need you to give them whatever that they want, they are my friend ” Pierce said his gaze moving onto Alice only.

“Yes sir!” The rude guard said moving to the computer.

“I arrived just in time to see you three coming up here. Just what are you looking for?” Pierce asked obviously in the dark about the detail and while Alice ignored him to join the guard in checking out the footage, Joanna and Mirabel filled him in on it.

“Have got to know who is trying to frame me” Joanna finished slowly.

” I hope you do” Pierce said putting a rea-ssuring hand on her back while she gave him a smile, it would have been nice if Francis had been here with her.

“Come see this Joanna!” Alice called and immediately they all move towards the screen.

They watch how Joanna excused herself from the group and how she left the club way before that stranger arrived.

“So if we work out the time you left and the time you arrived home” Alice pause doing the figure in her head.

“Then it’s all a lie” Alice finished in excitement while Joanna felt relieved.

“Am glad that you guys are able to sort this out” Pierce said a while later as they all walk out of the club.

“Should I take you back home” Pierce asked them and while Mirabel agreed, Alice and Joanna refuse.

“Am going to stay a bit more longer to see if I can talk to that guy. There are still some things that I have to clear with him” Joanna explained.

“Then I will stay with you” Alice said quickly not wanting to go with Pierce.

“You don’t have to, Go back home. I can handle this. Pierce get them back home safely for me” Joanna said going back into the club.

“Well, If you would lead the way” Pierce said slowly, starring at Alice.

“Am only letting you take us because I have to go back to school and since I don’t know the way, your help will be needed” Alice said rolling her eyes at him while Pierce let out a slow smile.

“Why are you going back to school?” Mirabel asked.

“To give Francis a piece of my mind and he sure would listen ” Alice huffed before walking off and Pierce couldn’t help but to admire her fighting spirit.
