Odoziaku Episode Four

"Hello! Hello! Chichi, please it's me Odoziaku. Please, I'm very sick and I'm dying. My husband has refused to take me to the hospital. Please need your help." Odoziaku said. Her voice was shaking and the phone was almost falling from her hand. She was down with malaria, and coupled with the fact that she was not eating well, her health condition became worse as her immune system has become weak.

"Stay right there. I'm coming to pick you up." Chichi said. She immediately picked a taxi and landed at Odoziaku's house. Chichi picked her up took her straight to the hospital.

"It's obvious your husband does not love you. I mean, how can you treat your wife like this? Your husband is a monster and I think you should leave that house. Which normal person goes through all these and still stays with the person tormenting her? You have to leave that house, seriously." Chichi said. Odoziaku had been treated and she is recovering. She has become stable and she merely smiled at Chichi.

"Don't worry Chichi. My husband will change. believe the God I serve. God can do all things.

But seriously, thank you very much for coming to rescue me today. I don't know what I would have done without a friend like you. That malaria had me by the jugular." Odoziaku said. Chichi was surprised that Odoziaku was still talking about Aku changing. She decided to do something and rescue her friend before she dies in the hands of Aku.

"I see that you will never voluntarily leave that house. I see that until you are taken away from that house by an ambulance before you will leave right?" Chichi asked.

"My dear, my husband is my cross and I have to carry him until I die. The Bible said there is no room for divorce in marriage. I won't leave Aku, will continue praying for him. If God can bring water out of rock, is it my husband's behavior that he cannot change?" Odoziaku said.

"Ok oh! will leave you in your marriage. But don't ever call me for help again because I will not come. Because it's obvious you want to die. "Chichi said. She stood up and went to the doctor's office.

"Doctor please, I need your help. My friend is suffering in the hands of her husband and she has refused to leave the place. I want you to sedate her with strong anaesthesia so that I will drive her to her official residence. That person you are seeing there is a bank manager. She has an official building but she does not live there. Her husband has turned her life upside down. He has turned her into a punching bag and treats her like rag. But today, will personally take her to that house." Chichi said. The doctor was surprised. Fortunately, the doctor agreed. A heavy dose of anaesthesia was added to the drug given to Odoziaku and she immediately fell into a deep sleep.

Chichi put her in a taxi and they drove straight to the official residence given to her as the branch manager of Jumbo Bank. The house is tastefully furnished with everything that could make one happy. It has constant electricity and a standby generator. All the rooms have air- conditioner. Chichi took Odoziaku and laid her in the master bedroom. She turned on the air conditioner and the room became cool and serene.

It took another twelve hours before Odoziaku regained her consciousness. Her head felt hazy like someone who has a hangover. But gradually, she became aware of her environment.

"Where am I? What happened to me?"

"I sedated you. And you are in your official residence. And this is your bedroom. I'm sure you like this place. Don't even try to lie or pretend that you don't like it here." Chichi said. She was touching Odoziaku's chin as she talked.

"Are you serious? You mean this place belongs to me? As in this is my house? Like I can live here? Why haven't I been living here all these while? It feels so good in here. This place feels different from Aku's house. It feels like heaven in here." Odoziaku said, She quickly stood up and took a tour of the large room. She opened the curtain and looked out of the window to see the beautiful environment.

"Wow! Why have I not relocated here since?" Odoziaku asked.

"Because you are married and you wanted to die in the hands of your husband. I'm even surprised that you are talking this way. You mean you actually want to live here? Like, you won't return to Aku's house?" Chichi asked sarcastically.

"I love this place. I don't want to leave." Odoziaku said. She jumped on the soft bed like a kid and picked up a pillow and held it on her lap.

"Ehen? Are you serious? It is as if the malaria you treated is a good thing. I think the malaria was disturbing you which was why you refused to leave your husband all these while. Now that the malaria has been treated and removed from your head, you can finally think clearly." Chichi said. She had a mocking look on her eyes.

"Stop jaril Stop mocking me. But the real problem now is that I can't still receive salary in my account. The salary will still be going to my husband. How will I see money to take care of myself?" Odoziaku asked.

"I have taken care of that too. Check your account balance. Salary has been paid today. Yesterday, I went to the staff directory to change your salary account. It is your personal account that is there right now." Chichi said.

With joy in her heart, Odoziaku picked up her phone and lo and behold, N800,000 was in her bank account.

"Oh my God! This is not happening! You mean I'm the owner of this money?" Odoziaku said with the phone in her hands. She jumped up and hugged Chichi with so much happiness. She felt so relieved and empowered. Not having money is one of the things that made her so much more vulnerable to maltreatment by her husband. Seeing such money in her account made her feel liberated. Suddenly, she felt powerful. Money gives you confidence.

"I don't know how to thank you. You are a God sent into my life." Odoziaku said to Chichi.

"I'm glad you are finally happy. You work so hard and you deserve to be happy like everyone else. No woman should be treated the way you were treated by that beast called Aku." Chichi said.

"And now, finally I'm free from his grip. The he- goat can go and look for another woman to drag around like a rag." Odoziaku said. She did not even border to go back to Aku's house to pick her things. She settled down proper. Meanwhile, Aku has started looking for her especially as he did not receive alert as usual.

He is looking for Odoziaku with fire in his eyes. Will he find her? And if he finds her, what will he do?
