Allen’s P.O.V

I decided that I was going to go straight to my mom’s house but once I saw that I had passed the hotel that Savvy was staying in, I for some reason made a quick U turn and pulled up. I walked in the hotel and then made my way to her room. I knew she was not there, after all I just left the hospital, but I had to clear my mind before going to my house and … Flashes of what I wanted to do to my mom crossed my mind. I swear I felt like I could strangle her and then give her the same mercy she told the men to give Savvy. As I reached the room, I saw three policemen outside of the door.

I forgot they were looking for evidence to see who had done this. As soon as Maddy’s brother, Jamie, who was a cop for the Memphis City Police Department heard what happened to Savvy he made it his case to work on. I began to turn away, knowing the officers would not let me in the room, but as I turned I ran straight into Jamie. I backed away.

“Sorry, man.” I stated. Jamie’s eyes just pierced into me. I watched as he lifted a white piece of paper.

“What the hell is this?” Jamie asked me in a cold voice. I gave him a confused look, and he opened the paper, to show the letter I had put by Savvy’s bed side. I tried to hide my shock. What the hell?

“How the hell did you get that?” I asked.

“Well, I was in the waiting room with Maddy. You seemed out of it, because we called you several times.

As a cop I can tell when you’re thinking hard, and when you’re about to do something. So when you left Savvy’s room, I went in and read this. Now, Allen, I think you need to explain what the hell you mean by: You see Savvy, what happened to you was my fault. My mom told me what she would do. Damn it, I should have l listen. If I did you wouldn’t be in the hospital.” Jamie raised an eyebrow at me, waiting for my answer. I shrugged my shoulders.

“I don’t have to tell you jack shit.” I said and then tried to pass by him, but he grabbed my wrist and twisted it behind my back so that within a split second, I was immobilized.

“You listen here punk, I know you love Savvy, and to me she is like a sister. Do you know what I do when my family is in trouble?” He didn’t let me reply. “I will kill anyone that had laid a finger on my family. By this letter you know exactly who hurt Savvy. And Allen if revenge is what you want from your mom, doing what I think you plan on doing to her is not the way. Now, between me and you, the police have wanted to bust your mom for years. We know what she does, yet we’ve got no evidence. If you come to the station with me. We can talk and maybe get your mom the right and legal way.” Jamie told me.

“Let me the fuck go.” I spat. Jamie released me and gave me a pleading look. I sighed. “If I talk to you there has to be some conditions.”

“Name them.” Jamie said.

Maddy’s P.O.V

I sat in my room and stared at the ceiling, thinking about how badly I wanted to strangle Troy. Currently texting me a million messages saying he was sorry for pushing me so much with the whole wanting a relationship. I haven’t messaged him back, because I am thinking about how the hell I was going to finish my English report.

“M-m-Maddy?” A weak sounding voice made me turn to look at my door. There stood Kay, her eyes were red and puffy, she had been crying. What shocked me even more was Hope coming from behind Kay. She also looked like she had been crying.

“What’s going on?” I asked, as fear spread through me. Jamie popped his head in between Hope and Kay at the doorway.

“Maddy, get your purse, and come on. We need to go to the hospital, quickly.” Jamie urged. I looked at them with wide eyes.

“What? Why?” I questioned. Jamie gave me a grave look.

“Its Savvy, she has been in … Well, I am not sure what you can consider it...” Kay said and then turned to Jamie for an answer.

“I am not sure exactly what’s happened to her, that’s why we need to please hurry. I have to talk to her doctors because I have been assigned to her case.” Jamie spoke.

“Case?!” I stood up with fright. They nodded and I grabbed my phone before we all rushed out of the house. As we entered the hospital, I saw that Allen was already in the waiting room. He had bags under his eyes and he was tapping his foot on the floor, deep in thought.

“Hey babe.” Tom said as he came over to us. He wrapped an arm around Hope and she giggled before realizing why she was here in the first place.

“I will see what info I can give y’all. Be right back.” Jamie said and then ran off down the hall. I took a seat a few chairs away from Allen.

“Do you know anything?” I asked him. He didn’t even react to my words. His brown eyes were focused on the wall before him, and they were staring daggers at it.

“Is he okay?” Kay asked as she sat down next to me. I sighed.

“I don’t know.” I honestly answered her, and then it hit me that I was supposed to be mad at her, after knowing what she had done with my brother and not told me. “Why?” The word slipped out of my mouth. Kay looked at me with confusion.

“Why, what?” She asked. I sighed knowing I couldn’t stay mad at her for much longer without talking to her.

“Why did you sleep with my brother? And then not tell me?” I questioned looking her in her eyes. She went wide eyed.

“I-I-I …” I could tell she was at a loss for words. “How did you find out?” She quizzed.

“Oh, it’s not the fact that you had sex with my brother that seems to be a problem with you, but how did I find out? Really, Kay?!” I started to shout. I stood up with my fist clenched.

“Whoa, calm down.” Jamie said coming up from behind me. He laid his hands on my shoulders.

“What’s got your panties in a twist?” He asked. I just glared at Kay. “Oh, I see. It’s a girl thing. Well, I guess I will leave y’all be.” Jamie said and then he turned to Allen.

“Wait! Jamie what did the doctor say?” I asked.

“The doctor is seeing her now.” Jamie told me. Then he looked over at Allen. “Hey, Allen, my bud.” Allen didn’t respond, nor look at Jamie. “Allen … Allen?”

“Jamie, I think you should leave him alone, I think he’s still in shock.” Kay said. I nodded, think about how much shock I would be in if the person I love was in the hospital. All of a sudden, Allen stood up and went to the nurse’s station. Kay, Jamie, and I watched him as he got a pen and paper and started to write something.

“What do you think he’s doing?” I whispered. Jamie shrugged his shoulders as he examined Allen’s actions, wondering the same thing I was. When Allen seemed to be done with whatever he was writing, he headed to Savvy’s room.

“Be right back.” Jamie said one Allen walked into Savvy’s room. I nodded and then sat back down. I really wish I had some news on what was going on with Savvy.

“I am sorry, for not telling you Maddy … I have been filled with guilt at the fact that I have not told you. Please, Maddy, forgive me, I am so sorry. “I gave Kay a glare, before composing my expression.

“Are you to still together?” I asked. Kay looked at me and shook her head.

“No, I told him to leave me be, and go have a life with Holly.” Kay said. I nodded.

“Where is she?” I looked up and saw … Savvy’s mom? “Where is my daughter?”

Oh my gosh, it was Savvy’s mom!

“Ummm-”

“Ma’am is there something you need help with?” A nurse asked.

“Where is my daughter at?" Her mom looked … frantic. Like she had been in Savvy’s life forever or something.

I walked up to Mrs. Smith, Savvy’s mom, and smiled. “Um. Hello. I’m Maddy.”

“Maddy? One of Savvy’s friends?” Mrs. Smith asked in a pleading like tone. I nodded. “So you know where Savvy is?” She looked grateful and frightened at the same time. “Please, tell me!” She begged.

“How do you know me? How do you know I’m one of her friends?” I looked at her suspiciously. Knowing that Savvy never trusted her mom after she left her with her grandmother. So I too knew not to trust her.

“Her grandmother, my mother, told me all about y’all. You and Hope and … Kay, right?” She smiled sweetly at me, as though she were now my closest buddy. Which I knew was not the case. “I’ve been hearing nonstop about y’all since I got here five days ago.”

“You’ve been here … that long?” I asked her, surprised.

“Yes. I just haven’t seen her since the first day I came. I think she’s staying somewhere else, a hotel, I believe … After all that is where they said that’s where they picked her up at when I called here earlier.” She looked around. “Could you tell me which room she’s in? I really want to see my baby.”

I felt a little disgusted to hear her call Savvy ‘her baby’ even when she hadn’t been in the majority of her life. How the hell could this bitch come in and act as though she knew Savvy and even her friends like this? “Sorry. I forgot the number.” I lied and then Mrs. Smith could respond, I walked away.

How could Savvy not tell us about her mother coming back? I mean, if her mother saw Savvy, then Savvy must have known her mom was back. Why the hell didn’t she tell us about this?

It infuriated me. At the same time, seeing Savvy in this condition upset me. And to know that she was staying at a hotel and not telling us?!

A hotel, really? Her mother said she was picked up at the hotel, so Savvy must have been staying there, but why didn’t Savvy come to one of use and stay with us? Did she not want to put her trust in us anymore? Were we even friends anymore?

I felt overly emotional as I went to relay to Hope and Kay what I had just learned about Savvy and her now returned mother. They were just as upset as I was about the news of Savvy living in a hotel, and her mom returning. None of them had had this knowledge of what’s going on with her. We all started to wonder why she hasn’t told us, yet.

Tom, who had just stepped out for a few minutes, returned and took up next to Hope once more. “Well, y’all I am headed out. There’s a little … party at one of the football player’s houses, and Dylan’s blackmailed me to go. I would take you, Hope, but seeing as Savvy’s in the hospital, that would be rude.”

“It’s rude of you to go now, considering she is in the hospital.” Hope said as she glared at Tom. Tom gave a sheepish look.

“No, you know what I think it’s a good idea, we should all go to the party, to get our minds off of this.” i said.

“What? Have you lost your mind?! Savvy is in the hospital!” Hope said. “A party is not what we all need. We should stay here and be with her.”

“Hope, Savvy would do the we same if we were in the hospital.”

“No, she wouldn’t.” Argued Hope.

“Well, I am going.” I stated knowing that at a football player’s party, there was going to be drinks. The kind that didn’t leave a person sober and I really needed a drink right now.

Savvy, my over secretive friend...why did you not confide in us with these things? We could’ve helped you!

Reluctantly, I walked out of the hospital, as well as Kay and Hope, who seemed to be joining for the fact that she wanted to be the designated driver. As she put it we can all end up at the hospital. Honestly I knew Hope was pissed that we were going, and truthfully my conscious was eating me up.

How can I go to a party, when my best friend was in the hospital?

But the truth was, how can I consider a liar as a friend?

We all piled into Tom’s truck and Tom drove us to where the party was.

When we got there, for some reason, I was surprised to see Troy right out front, as though he were waiting for us to get here. As soon as he saw me, he rushed to my side, looking as though he were trying to help me down.

I swatted his hand away. “I don’t need your help. Do I look like I’m made of porcelain?”

He chuckled a little and backed up to give me room to get out of the truck, but he was close enough so that if I fell or tripped, he would be there to catch me. For some reason, that annoyed me.

I ignored him and followed Kay to the house, where a bottle of my savior was waiting for me.

I headed straight for the liquor as soon as I made it in the house. I was irritated to see that Troy had followed me. As I grabbed a bottle of Jack Daniels, Troy asked, “What do you think you’re doing?”

“What does it look like I’m doing?” I asked as I picked up a cup and went to pour it. Troy snatched it out of my hand. “What the hell?”

“You shouldn’t be drinking, Maddy.”

“And last I checked, you weren’t my father.” I grabbed a different bottle, this one said Ciroc. But Troy snatched that one too. “Leave me the hell alone, Dazer.” I demanded as I went to grab for another bottle.

“As soon as you leave the alcohol alone, Huggins.” He responded as he grabbed my hand.

“No.” I said, snatching my hand away from him. “I can drink if I want to! Who are you to stop me?!” I faced him, anger making my blood pound.

“It’s unhealthy for you! Do you want to endanger ...” He stopped short and drew back, but he didn’t let go of my hand. “Endanger … your health?” He finished a couple of seconds later.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW

“Go away!” I yelled and turned to walk away, but I found myself being picked up. Soon, I was in his arms, bridal style, looking up in surprise at Troy’s determined face. “Let me down!” I yelled. I struggled in his arms, trying to get down and go back to what i planned on coming her for … a drink a strong drink at that.

But Troy held me firmly, as he turned and walked towards the exit.

“Troy! Let me down now! If you don’t let me down now, I’ll...” I stopped, trying to think of a good threat, but I couldn’t.

“You’ll what?” He questioned. “Stop fussing. I’m taking you out of this place. Whether you like it or not, sorry Hun.”

Savvy’s P.O.V

I slowly woke up, but it was very hard to. My eyes felt like they were weighed down, but I forced them open.

“Savvy?! ... Nurse! She is waking up!” I heard a frantic voice say as I fully opened my eyes. I had to close them immediately as the bright white light that shined in my eyes was hurting my sight. “Savvy, baby, how are you?” I heard a loving, yet scared voice murmur to me.

“Ma’am, can you please step away so I can take her vital signs.” Some woman asked. I cracked open my eyes and saw an elderly white woman in a nurse’s outfit make her way over to me. She gave me a smile when she saw I was awake. “Hello, my name is Carrie, I am your nurse. Can you tell me what your name is?” The nurse asked. I gave her a confused look as I opened my eyes more.

Of course I know what my name is …

“It’s … It’s …” Wait what is my name …?

“Her name is Savvy!” Another woman beside me said. “You know that.” The nurse looked at the woman bedside me.

“I know her name, but the thing I am seeing is if she knows her own name. Doctor said with all the injuries to her head, there could be memory loss.” All eyes turned to me.

Memory loss … I don’t have memory loss …do I?

“How old are you?” The nurse asked. She looked at me steadily.

“Uh.” I tried thinking of how old I was...

“She’s seventeen! She knows that!” The same voice sounded worried. “My baby can’t have memory loss!”

“Ma’am, I’m going to have to ask you to leave.” The nurse sounded as though she were restricting her anger. When the lady who seemed to know me reluctantly left, the nurse turned back to me and took a deep breath before smiling at me. “Now...do you know when your birthday is?”

“M-my birthday?” I panicked when the answer didn’t instantly come to me. Why couldn’t I remember my birthday?!

“Calm down, Savvy, what you are experiencing is normal …”

“Normal?” I said in a dry cracked voice. The nurse nodded.

“Yes, from the injuries you have received. It’s very normal, but your memory should return soon.”

“Injuries?” I started to panic once again.

What happened to me?

More importantly, who am I?
