Ginika was admitted for a few days before she was discharged.

She resigned from her work.

Ephraim frequently pays her a visit to check upon her after work and also buy her things she need., Atimes, he takes her out for sightseeing.

It was a weekend, he went to pick her up. He couldn’t help but stare at the beautiful diva standing in front of him, she looked stunning and pretty in her sky blue short gown with a high heel shoe.

“Why are you staring so hard? She asked.

” Maybe because I am seeing an angel in the human body for the first time. ” he replied.

She smiled.

He couldn’t get his face off her, they both smile when their gazes meet.

It was time to go home, he didn’t drive straight to her house to drop her, instead he headed in a different direction.

“Where are you going to, that is not the way to my house” Ginika quizzed.

Ephraim gave a smile.

“Yes I know, I am taking you to my house” he said.

Ginika looked confused and rolled her eyes

“Why?” She asked.

“Because my mum wants to see you and thank you once more for taking care of her son.” he replied.

She couldn’t protest.

His mum came out of the building into the compound as she heard the sound of the car driving in.

She was clad in a long free gown with her long hair swimming in the hair. She gave a broad smile at the sight of Ginika

“Come here my daughter” she said and gave her a big hug.

she winked at Ephraim while he responded.

“Come on in, I have prepared a delicious African food for you because I knew you would be coming today” she said with excitement.

She ushered her into the sitting room. It was a luxurious building with sophisticating interiors. Ginika looked around as she slowly stepped into the sitting room.

“Your house is beautiful, I love it” said Ginika.

“Thank you darling, what should I offer you first, juice? Wine? fruits? Just name it.” She asked.

“Water is okay ma” she said.

“Are you sure?” She asked.

“Yes ma” Ginika replied.

Few seconds later, she came with a glass of water.

” Let me serve the table, feel at home dear.” she said and went away.

Ephraim looked at his mother suspiciously, he stood up and went to meet her in the kitchen.

She was serving the food, he showed behind her.

“Mum, what are you up to?” He asked.

“I don’t know what you are talking about son” she replied as she placed the dishes on the tray.

“Mum, I know you, all these hospitalities has something to it, you are up to something mum, what is it? ” he asked

She smiled.

” That lady helped save your life, she was concerned and she kept coming till she found you, the doctor told me everything, how else did you want me to treat her, I shouldn’t appreciate someone that looked out for my son? She asked.

Ephraim was short of words. He hummed.

“That’s not what I’m saying mum, I am just surprised and think you have another motive” he said.

She dropped the dish in her hand and stood akimbo right in front of him. He looked straight into his eyes.

“Even if I have another motive, isn’t she beautiful enough to be your wife? You children of nowadays only use your eyes to blink and not to see” she exclaimed.

She left him wondering. Ephraim brooded for a while, he paced the kitchen and thought about what his mother said.

” but mum,I can’t deny the fact that I have feelings for her but you know my condition, you know I am a dying man, Ginika don’t deserve to end up being a widow at her early stage in life, she deserves the best mum, I think this is being selfish, you are only thinking about me and not her, think about it mum and aside that she is a sickle cell patient, i can’t double her problem.” he said.

His mum folded her arms and heaved a deep breathe, she was teary, his words tore her apart.

“Ephraim, I did not think to that extent, all I want is a good woman for my son, you have a point but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t profess your love to her, I knew your dad was a leukemia patient before I agreed to marry him, the 15 years we spent together before he died was the best, everyday was a memorable one and I didn’t regret marrying him just for a day, it doesn’t matter how long, what matter is the quality of time you spend together and how memorable you made it be, it is so sad that you are letting me know you are leaving me soon” she said, carried the plate of food and walked towards the door, she stopped and looked back.

“As for her genotype, she did not cause it, and thank God you are AA, there is always an iota of perfection in every imperfection, if you really love her, go for her” she said and left for the sitting room.

Ephraim stood stagnant and watched her walked away. He thought for a while before joining them in the dinning. His mum and Ginika were laughing when he joined.

They prayed and began to eat. Ephraim’s mother wouldn’t stop staring at Ginika, her interest in her was obvious and it was written all over her. They finished the meal and she suggested they go into the garden outside for fresh air.

The garden has a greenish landscape with beautiful flowers. They sat on the chair that had a wide table in the middle, like a table of the royal cottage. There were fruits and wine on the table. He served the cups and handed them over to each one of them

The breeze whispered from every angle

“Let me tell you how I met my husband.” she said as she took a sip from the cup. Ginika concentrated on her with her cup in her hand.

She continued.

” We met at the airport, we were both stranded waiting to be picked up by our drivers, luckily for me my driver came and I offered to drop him off. He was a quiet, a shy man. He didn’t say anything throughout the trip, I did the introduction and everything. I could count the number of words he said on that day. I fell in love with his personality and shot my shot immediately by having his contact. ( they all laughed) I was the one that asked him out and taught him how to propose to a lady. So I understand if my son is shy to express his feelings for you, he is like his father, a gentle and wonderful man. ( she smiled) I’ll excuse both of you” she said, picked her drink and went in.
