Helmet Promises

With my arms wrapped tightly around his waist, we raced raced down the road, going at great speeds.

Faster than usual if you ask me, more than 100 mph minimum.

" Slow down Xander!" I let out a dizzy laugh, which made him throw his head back in laughter as well.

" No way! This is too fun Gabriel!" I notice his knuckles turning white as he held on to the handles of his motorbike. I loved the adrenline pulsing through my veins, but then again I didn't want to die --- not today at least. 9

" You're driving too fast! Pleaseee slow down!" I begged with puppy dog eyes which he could only see from the corner of his eyes.

The ends of his lips tilt upwards, enjoying the sight of me begging.

" Then tell me how much you love me Gabriel! Scream it out so that the whole knows you're mine." He grinned. Rolling my eyes, I couldn't contain my smile.

" I love you so much but my love for you isn't something I can measure or compare to the size or breadth of something tangible." I lean against his back, snuggling closer.

" But I can promise you one thing Alexander Wilde --- I AM YOURS ALEXANDER, ALL OF ME!" I scream out that makes him relax.

" I AM YOURS GABRIEL, ALL OF ME!" He screams in response, letting out a string of laughter. We were at the peak of young love and bliss, at that moment I just knew it.

" Now slow down!" I added on, reminding him.

" Okay okay mom, just wear my helmet first." He instructed. 34

" oh man Xander, I thought I'm old enough for this bullshit. I don't need a helmet. Why must I wear a helmet and you don't have to?" My question was met with silence, and that was enough to make me comply.

He was still serious about the fact that I had to always be wearing a helmet when drivingwith him. I remembered that night after we ate the diner where he didn't allow me to druve my own motorbike till I wore my helmet.

Planting a kiss on his cheek, I gave him a hug to lighten up his mood.

" Now that's more like it.." he winked at me, he was such a drama queen.

I frowned when the motorbike's speed kept increasing, especially since we were heading towards a curve.

" uhh...Xander..? Why aren't you slowing down?" I shook his shoulder slightly, we just kept closing towards the curve. 2

" Promise me you'll never forget me Gabriel." Alexander swallows hard. 52

" Don't say that Alexander, people only say that when they are about to leave..." I mumbled out, feeling a feeling of uneasiness stir within my stomach. We kept going faster, and faster. 3

It was becoming hard to even catch my breath at that moment.

Turning back for one last time, Alexander gives me his best smile.

" I love you Gabriel..."

Suddenly goes black.

No Alexander, just a loud crashing sound along with everything going pitch black. 89

It becomes a dark world once more...

TRISTEN POV 5

" Tris come see this!!" Willow hollared from my living room. I chuckled upon hearing her voice, the last time she called me to see something --- she ended up standing in my room in only lingerie.

Maybe I'll end up a lucky man again tonight...

" Babe I swear I had enough of your teasing!" I replied with a cheeky grin, taking my sweet time to stroll to the living room.

I heard her release a strangled grunt of annoyance. " I really mean it Tristen, so get your ass here!"

This woman was one hell of a crazy woman and yet she crept her way into my heart. I rolled my eyes at the thought of that. The television was switched on and Willow was standing in front of it, wearing only my tshirt that reached her mid thigh.

Now that is a gift to the eyes. 1

I would have stared at her curvaceous body a minute longer but the headlines on the News Channel grabbed my attention almost immediately.

Hooking my arm around her waist, Willow had her mouth slightly ajar.

" No...Tristen this can't be true...please tell me I'm dreaming."

I couldn't even answer her desperate whimpers because I myself was trying so hard to believe that my eyes and ears. I decided to increase the volume of the televisions.

" A shocking accident happened a day ago near the boarders of Orlando. Though the accident site is still under investigation, it was said by Chief Officer Mack that the brakes of the motorcycle that 20 year old, Gabriel Harris and 24 year old, Alexander Wilde were driving with had been cut and removed. This caused the motorcycle to stir off the road and crash right through the railing. Both men are admitted to Saint Admiral Hospital and are in serious condition." 51

I didn't even take a moment to breathe and began rushing towards the door with my jacket in my arm.

" Tristen! Wait..." Willow held me back, embracing me in a hug. Resting my head on her shoulder, I inhaled her sweet scent to calm my nerves.

" I'm coming with you...you are not in the right frame of mind to drive." She scurried to grab her sweatpants that hung over the sofa.

I was shaking. The world kept spinning. I knew it. I knew it from the start that when he left the diner, something bad was going to happen.

It's all my fault! Fuck. Maybe if i was more firm with him, or at least accompanied him...he wouldn't have landed up in this position. I felt Willow's finger tips brush against my cheek.

" hey...look at me Tris.." my glossy eyes met hers. Gabriel was one of my closest friends, the first guy in school that I punched, the first guy in school that i ever cried in front of and most importantly, the guy who kept all my secrets --- no matter how dark they were.

" I know how much you care for Gabriel, but right now, I need you to breathe. Just breathe Tris, I'm here and I'll never leave you alright?" I lightly pressed my lips onto hers.

" thank you rapunzel..." I entwined my fingers in hers, leading her twoards the car. It didn't take long for us to reach the hospital, especially at the speed we were driving at. With Willow's hand in mine, I fought my way through the crowd of nurses to find the Harris family waiting outside Gabriel's ward.

Blake was pacing back and forth while Kai was crouching low. Mr and Mrs Harris had tear stained cheeks. Everyone was trying to keep a strong stand.

Upon seeing me, Kai dived in for a hug. Willow sent a short message to rest of our friends to inform them of the news.

Giving Blake a bro-hug, I could

see that he was doing his best to hold in those fat tears.

" What is their condition like?" I inquired.

Swallowing hard, Blake ran his fingers through his hair.

" Alexander is in a more serious condition than Gabriel because he wasn't wearing a helmet." He paused, biting hard on his bottom lip before continuing 9

" I can't fucking do this Tristen, I can't wait any longer...I need to see both of them alive, breathing, smiling." Blake took in deep breaths, balling his fists.

" I know man, everyone wants that badly. All we could do now is pray. When will the doctors update us of their state?" 1

" They couldn't give us an answer. They just said soon."

I couldn't wait for soon.
