Episode 1

It was Ngozi's first semester in the department

of theater arts, a course she has been dreaming to study since she was in the primary school. She has always wanted to be an actress since she was a child, so she chose to study a course that would help her achieve her dream. Ngozi is a very beautiful girl such that it is difficult for a man to see her and not look at her two times.

No doubt, she is the most beautiful girl in the department of theater arts. If a beauty contest was to be held in the department, she would obviously win. She was so beautiful that people used beauty to describe her. In fact, some people stopped calling her Ngozi and renamed her 'Beauty'.

One of the very first people to call her 'Beauty' was her lecturer in drama called Daniel. Daniel was in his 50s and he has been teaching for at least 25 years. Daniel is a married man but he has his eyes on young girls such as Ngozi who dot the campus like fresh leaves. He first saw Ngozi in the class on the day he came in to do introductory lectures for his course, 'introduction to drama'. Throughout the lectures, he was not comfortable in the class after setting his eyes on Ngozi who was sitting in front of the class. He was constantly stealing a look at her. He concluded that he has never seen such a beautiful woman in his life.

She looked like a ripened tomato Jos that was freshly plucked from a well-nourished garden. He also vowed to 'catch' Ngozi and keep her for himself before any other man would touch her on the campus. Daniel knew what to do so that he would have Ngozi in his office within the first week of school's resumption. At the end of the lectures, he gave the class an assignment and asked that everyone must come to his office and individually submit the assignment. Haven taken the course rep out of the picture, he was sure of having Ngozi in his office. The following week, Ngozi went to Daniel's office to submit her assignment and what happened left her totally heartbroken.

"This is rubbish! Go and do the assignment again." Daniel said to Ngozi who was bewildered. She watched with shock as Daniel tore the assignment paper into shreds. He poured the paper into his trash can and said it was where it rightly belonged.

"Sir, you did not even look at the assignment, not to talk of reading it. You just tore it as if it is a piece of tissue. At least, you should look at it, mark it and award me zero if what I did was wrong. Tearing it that way broke my heart." Ngozi said with her heart almost jumping out of her mouth.

Back in secondary school, Ngozi has always thought of herself as an intelligent girl. In fact, she is an intelligent woman because beginning from first to her last class in secondary school, she never failed to take the first position in her class. It was therefore painful that a lecturer was labelling her first university assignment as nothing but trash fit for the trash can.

"You think this place is secondary school? You think you will also come here and drag first position with your classmates? Let me tell you, within the university, we award marks by merit and not by anything else. If you think you will use your beauty to charm me, please think again because I have seen girls that are far more beautiful than you are and yet, I still stood and did my job. I don't want to repeat myself. Go and do the assignment again and submit it tomorrow morning." Lecturer Daniel said angrily. It was almost as if he had been waiting for Ngozi to come so that he would unleash his anger on her. Yet, he knew what he was doing. It was the same strategy he had used to win over some girls he liked in the past. It is a strategy of subdue, crush and conquer.

"And let me remind you that you do not talk when your lecturer is talking. Do you think you are in your house? This is a university young lady and you only speak when you are told to do so. You do not talk back at your lecturers except you want to fail the courses. You better use your tongue to count your teeth." Lecturer Daniel said mischievously.

"I have heard you sir. I will submit the assignment tomorrow as directed." Ngozi responded as she leaves the office with her broken spirit. As she was walking away, Lecturer Daniel could not stop looking at her back side which swerved from side to side in beauty.

"This girl is a work of art and I must be the one to acquire her first before any other man nears her in this campus.

"Ngozi come back here!" Lecturer Daniel called and Ngozi turned and returned to his table.

"I have decided to give you another assignment, to make it two. Submit the two of them tomorrow morning." Lecturer Daniel said.

"Ah! Sir, I have not even finished the one you gave in class and you are giving me another one? Do you want to kill me?" Ngozi shouted out of deep frustration. Even her angry face was beautiful to Lecturer Daniel. Everything about Ngozi was making him glad and he was determined to break her spirit such that she would have no other option than to submit to him.

"Leave my office and do as I say. Look, go around the campus and ask people about me. I do not waste time in giving students carry over. The semester is just one week old but I have started failing students in my courses already. If you want to be one of them, I will add your name to the list of failures." The lecturer said.

"Ah! No sir, I will do the assignments. Please, don't fail me or add my name to any list." Ngozi her in this campus.

"Ngozi come back here!" Lecturer Daniel called and Ngozi turned and returned to his table.

"I have decided to give you another assignment, to make it two. Submit the two of them tomorrow morning." Lecturer Daniel said.

"Ah! No sir, I will do the assignments. Please, don't fail me or add my name to any list." Ngozi said with trembling lips. She left the office shaking. Her kind of beauty is the type that attracts envy and makes men go gaga. Any man who cannot have her ends up hating her. But Lecturer Daniel is determined to achieve his aim.
