To Love Gabriel Harris - S01 E24

It Felt Too Easy

I creept into the warehouse, a feeling of nostalgia hits me hard. This was where it all began --- the guns, bloody hands, friendships and the process of transforming your heart into a piece of steel, void of emotions.

Scanning my surroundings, I sprinted from one end of the room to another. The voices were heading to my direction. Grey timed it perfectly, my entrance would be epic.

Sitting on one of the bar stools, I sat in the pitch dark bar room. I poured myself a glass of whiskey, taking a sip of its burning liquid.

Just on time, Kara switched on the lights with the rest of the gang standing behind her.

" Hello boys, fancy seeing y'all again" I dragged my words, a grin on my lips. Their faces were priceless, especially Kara whose mouth was ajar.

" ALEXANDER WILDE!" Barry shoved through the crowd to embrace me in a hug. I laughed in response when more of the gang members came jumping on me. 1

Kara cleared her throat, grabbing someone harshly from behind the corner. That was when my smile fell.

" Xander..." Gabriel spoke in a bare whisper, his bottom lip was dried with blood and just above his eyebrow was a gash, blood trinkling down his forehead. My fists clenched, along with my jaw.

The boys stepped aside when they felt me tense up.

" You might have missed him boys, but remember who you work for. Me and only me. You got that?" Kara commanded, which made them nod curtly, stepping back in line.

If looks could kill, Kara would be long dead. The boys sat Gabriel down on a chair, before tying him up. Grey stood behind Gabriel, giving a subtle wink.

" You know Alex, I'm glad you came. " Kara swung a gun around her finger playfully. 1

" Let Gabriel go and you'll get my position, just don't lay another fuvking finger on him. I swear to god Kara, I will snap your neck if you do so." I had to be cautious right now, knowing that she had a loaded gun but I couldn't help it --- she had my Gabriel.

She lets out a cackle of laughter, in some way mocking me.

" because of your stupid irrational boyfriend I LOST THAT CHANCE! He burned the fucking birth certificate so there is no prove that I'm your wife." 3

Thank the Lord you're not my wife then.

" You burned Angie's birth certificate?" I turned towards Gabriel, I didn't know how to feel about that. 10

" Now both of you might as well die! If it weren't for both of you, I would have been the first female mobster boss in russian history!" Kara screamed, balling her fists. 21

I was convinced that she was insane. 2

Licking my lips, my eyes met Kara's emerald ones. I had to use the sexual ticket now. Getting off from the bar stool, I walked towards her. She began to fumble around with the gun, I knew that my brown orbs were her weakness. 12

The thought of my plan made me sick, especially since it could possibly hurt Gabriel worse than it he already was.

" Stay away from me Alexander!" She shrieked out but I kept going closer to her. Swiftly wrapping my arm around her waist, I leaned towards her ear. She quivered in my arm, I knew her legs were about to give way. 6

The thing about Kara was that she always tried to put up a strong front when truth was --- she was too weak within. The slightest touch, word, conflict or memory could make her crumble into a million pieces. 1

Everyone would come to that point where she was, I was exactly like her when she left me with Angie. However, what matters is if you could build yourself up once more and find your self-worth.

I would call that the recovery period. And Kara...she hasn't recovered yet -- she still lives in the past.

" I've been thinking about what we could have been each day..." I whispered into her ear, my hand slowly finding its way to her hand.

She sucked in a deep breath. I hated myself for lying to her, but my main goal was to get Gabriel out of here as soon as possible.

Gazing back in her eyes, I leaned down to her lips -- capturing hers in mine. That was all it took for her grip on the gun to loosen. The kiss made me feel disgusted in all forms, knowing that Gabriel was watching it. From the corner of my eyes, I see Gabriel's face with no emotion written on it. 13

What was on his mind? Was he affected? Did he realise what mine intention was behind my actions?

Just a few seconds more Alexander, keep it together...

I used her moment of weakness to grab a hold of the gun. Pushing her away from me, I pointed the gun at her.

" Untie him now!" I demanded, Grey played along and untied him. Pulling Gabriel towards my chest hastily, I kissed his the top of his head. I wanted to just stay there--- inhaling his lavender smell, running my fingers through his soft chocolate coloured hair.

But I knew very well that that had to wait.

A small part of me relaxed when he pulled me closer. Pointing the gun once more at Kara, I wanted to pull the trigger so badly. First she left our daughter and I, then she hurts the person I love so much --- she doesn't deserve my sympathy at all in fact.

" Don't do it Alexander, don't shoot her." Gabriel held my hand, giving it a small squeeze. 12

" Be better than she is, it doesn't make you any better if you shoot her." I glanced down at his ocean blue-green eyes, that were tugging at my heart strings. I could feel my anger slowly fading, my frown slowly drowning. 3

I looked back at Grey, " Take care of Kara, make sure no one comes after us or hurts Gabriel." He nodded with a small smile. 1

" Anything for you Boss!" He replied with enthusiasm and it surprised me that Kara didn't even retaliate.

Something didn't seem right...

With that, Gabriel and I ran out of the warehouse, heading towards my motorbike. We were breathless by the time we reached my motorbike.

I looked over at Gabriel who was already staring me.

" Look Gabriel, I'm really sorry for kissing Kara, I just------" he shakes his head with a chuckle, before yanking me towards him by my collar.

With his lips moving against mine, I sink right deep into the kiss. His tongue sweeps across my lips, requesting for entrance which a gladly abide.

Between the kiss, he says muffled words which are somehow coherent.

"I know...you kissed Kara to get us out," I prevented him from speaking once more, deepening the kiss. "And you don't have to be sorry for not letting me on the truth..."

I pulled away with a quizzed look plastered on my face.

" Why not?"

Twirling the ends of my hair, he pecked my lips.

" You were trying to protect me from possibly being kidnapped like this, and a stubborn fool I was to insist." I cupped his cheek in my hand.

" You still have all the right to find out everything about me...thank you for not leaving me just yet." I smiled at him sheepishly.

" Oh boy, you don't have to worry Xander, you'll be stuck with me for a long time." He hopped onto my motorbike, ready to race back home.

" You coming?" He snapped me out of my train of thoughts, noticing the fact that I was standing still.

With a deep breath, I gave him a warm smile. Once again, my gut feeling told me something wasn't right with how we escaped without having a single cut or bruise across how cheek.

It felt too easy...way too easy..
