“Who are you and where are you taking me to? I shakily asked.

“Just keep quiet, if you make any sound you’ll be finished, a voice replied.

“Please, please what did I do? I’m sorry please what ever you want I’ll give it to you, I said.

“Shut up! The voice screamed at me and I swallowed. At a point I was blindfolded and it got me shivering the more as they drove for quite a long time and finally stopped.

I was dragged down with my heart beating fast going to where I couldn’t see and then pushed inside,

“Please where am I? What have I done forgive me please I don’t want to die now, I seriously cried and I felt someone coming close to me and the cloth was taken off from my eyes. I slowly opened my eyes and saw the guys I once hired and opened my mouth in shock,

“E shock you? One of them asked and I shook my head crying.

“Please am sorry I backed out, I thought that was the best decision for me please I didn’t tell anyone this, I cried and they smiled.

“Relax, we are actually saving your skin, one said.

“What! I almost said under my breath.

“I don’t even know why we like you sef. Desmond is having issues, 2 of his biggest warehouses that carried goods worth millions of naira was burned down and he was really mad. He began to investigate who must have done that, and one of the guys told them you actually visited the area to harm him. He called up Spaco… The guy who was in your university, and he swore he had nothing to do with that and that he thinks you must have met another gang or something to pay him back. So Spaco hinted me that he’s coming for you and we had to take you first, the guy explained and I looked at him in shock and slowly bend down.

“But I did nothing, I told you I’ve moved on right and I meant it. I have nothing to do with this trust me, I said and they nodded.

“We sabi, one said and all I could do was cry,

“Why can’t he just leave me alone? Can someone like me do such a thing? I asked them.

“I no go fit answer that one but call your family up and tell them to be careful, the guy replied.

“I left My phone in the car, I said.

“We did it that way for a purpose so it will confuse them the more, take my phone, he said and gave me his phone and I called up Duke,

“Hello! Duke voice came on phone and I noticed he must have heard something wrong about me.

“Its Joan, I said

“Joan! Jesus Christ will you be putting us in shock every second? What was your car doing….. By the way where are you? Are you okay? He asked.

“I’m okay alright, you see there’s a problem but I want you all to be very careful Desmond is having evil plans, I replied.

“Evil plans? What the hell does he want? We called off the charges against him right? Duke asked.

“Duke no time for questions, just do that and again, act like I was really kidnapped okay but be security conscious. Please take care of Sonia and tell Chike this too alright, I said and the guys got the phone from me and cut off the call before Duke could say anything.

“Thank you all so much, I gently said to them.

“You still dey vex us, one said.

“I know but I’m sorry, how do you want me to apologize to you? I asked them.

“The question should be what should we do now? Spaco will know that we will take you and he is equally very angry with us especially you, one replied and his phone began to ring.

“Its even him, he said and picked up.

“Where you dey? Spaco voice came on phone.

“Wetin happen problem dey? The guy asked.

“No dey play with me, I know say na you go carry am, where she dey? Spaco asked.

“Who be the she? Wetin you dey talk? The guy asked.

“No forget say na me been hint you about Dee plans o and you still dey keep secret from me? and again the other guys say you no dey the area so where she dey? Spaco still insisted and the guys looked among themselves.

“She dey with us wetin happen? Why Desmond want am? No be she burn the warehouse, the other guy replied.

“Guy make we meet fire dey mountain. As e dey so now Desmond don turn mad man, and na time to strike am down be this, Spaco said and I shook my head at the guys. I didn’t want that, all I wanted is peace and nothing more than that,

“We been no get any issue with that guy, the person wey been get say she no want again so if you still want show Desmond pepper then organize your guys do the job, the guy replied.

“Wetin dey do you? But I dey help you ba? I allow you carry stranger come My unit without kobo and she get mind comot again against my rules yet I still tell you the danger wey dey ahead of am and you dey talk to me like that? Na me you dey talk to ba! Spaco shouted and I scratched my head pacing round and the guys looked at themselves and heaved.

“Calm down no be like that, okay make we see na, the guy said.

“No bother just forget am, you go need my help again and I go remind you, Spaco said.

“Guy no too vex, come over make we talk, the guy said and dropped the address for him and he angrily dropped the call.

“Are you sure about that? I asked the guys.

“Sure about wetin? You should thank him for letting us know, one replied.

“Why am I not feeling good about this? I asked rubbing my neck and saw I was sweating,

“You sure say you dey alright? One asked.

“Maybe we been make am fear before, relax yourself, one replied and they left the room.

A mat was the only thing there and I worriedly sat on it so confused and afraid of what the next minute will be,

“Why is Desmond after me? I kept asking myself……….

That night they brought me food but I was not hungry,

“So you no go chop ba? You just wan act the real kidnapper film? One asked and I shook my head.

“I’ll eat fruits rather, I replied.

“Wetin you dey worry exactly? Your car, Desmond or your family which one? One asked.

“I know there are people documents and valuable things in car I can handle, but my family and Desmond is what am worried about. What if he faces my family to lure me out? Though I haven’t seen Desmond violent but the much I’ve heard of him makes me scared already, I want my family safe, I replied.

“Kpele o but I won’t be able to protect your family because we have to be here and you don make us involve ourselves for your casala. If Desmond finds out we help you, alarm don blow be that, the guy said.

“What you wanted to help me before na without fear, I said.

“That was unaware, we been wan strike without him knowing not now his eyes don red pass fire. I hear say the goods he loss really cost, he replied and I cleaned my face.

“Can’t we involve the police? I asked and he looked at me and angrily hissed.

“If you like you eat if you like leave, the guy replied and was about to leave,

“Can you please let me speak with my brother? I asked.

“No and goodnight, he replied and left the room and I breathed out………..

Very early in the morning I was still hearing squeaking sounds as the day was breaking but I couldn’t sleep anymore despite I slept late. The mosquitoes were really having a nice diet on my body and I had to kill them but I heard a sound as if someone just jumped into the compound.

There was no light but only a candle that was long burnt and finished and I decided to listen carefully to the environment. I heard footsteps very slowly but the dry leaves there couldn’t stop making noise giving an alert someone just stepped on it and I began to shake.

“Is it one of the guys? But why is he tiptoeing? I asked myself and slowly stood up leaning on the wall and the door opened. I wanted saying something but the guy placed his finger on his lips and I nodded then he beckoned on me to come using his finger and I slowly left the room with him.

“Who are they? I whispered when I saw the guys awake holding guns.

“I don’t know, someone must have disclosed this place, one replied.

“Spaco? I asked.

“He can’t do that to us, one replied.

“How are you sure? Who else knows you’re here if not him? I asked and they looked at me and I saw they were really pained.

“Stay low, and remain here, one told me and the guys left leaving me alone which I quickly locked the door behind. The room was so dark and there no place for air to penetrate and I felt burned up already but immediately I heard gunshots outside. I fell to the ground using my hands to cover my ears scared for the guys, they were too good to die because of me and I don’t know how I will handle that knowing it was because of me they lost someone.

At a point everywhere was quiet and I sat down to listen just to know what’s going on but a hit came on the door.

“Open up now before I’ll blast the door open with you, a voice said outside and my body was shivering.

“Now! The voice shouted and I ran to the door struggling to open it and they pushed me coming in with one of the guys held at gun point,

“Someone wants to see you, the strange guy said.

“Please, please I didn’t do anything, I shakily said.

“Take her out, the guy said and 2 other guys held me outside and I saw Desmond sitting down.

“You’re here? I asked very surprised to see him.

“Yes baby, he replied and stood up and gave me a heavy hit on my face that I felt my teeth injured my lip.

“I thought I told you to name your price but what did you do? You have the guts to ruin my sweat? Do you know how long I worked for that! He shouted on my face.

“I thought you were so intelligent but you’re so daft. You really think I am that powerful to do such thing to you? Why not take it as God punishment because you took another man sweat to enrich yourself which of course won’t last! I shouted back on him and he smiled.

“Who did you pay to do that? He asked.

“There he goes again, why not ask all your boys where they all went to when they were to watch over you and your wealth? I thought you were all knowing yet you don’t know who burned down your sweat huh? I asked back and he nodded.

“You’re right, he said and turned and shot one of the guys on the head and I screamed struggling with the guys who held me.

“They will go down one by one until you start talking, because you know what, I’ll be going to your family next, Desmond said.

“Don’t you dare! I may have ignored and moved on from all the lies and pains you brought to me but if you dare touch my family, i swear to God, I’ll be the devil that has never existed and I will you this again, I have nothing to do with your warehouse and God bless the person who burned it down, I wish it burnt you also to hell! I shouted and he licked his lips.

“You’re really brave right? Hope you can hold on to it longer, take her away, also with the guys, Desmond commanded his boys and they held us up while we struggled with them.
