I’m Vengeance - S01 E18

Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 18

We were put into a bus while Desmond entered a sport car and the bus followed behind with about 3 guys well armed to watch over us, that was when I saw it was few minutes past 4 in the morning when one of the guys touched his phone and I heaved.

“Canek, oh Canek, the one who I always take as the leader kept saying in the bus shaking his head, that was when I got to know one of their names and sadly it was the one who got shot, the very one who served me dinner last night.

“I’m so sorry, I whispered so afraid to look them in the face but the guys shouted on us to be shut.

“Oh canek! The guy shouted more and one of Desmond guys hit him hard on his stomach that I shouted as if I was the one hit.

The guys hands were tied behind and the eyes he used on him, if eyes can kill then he’ll be roasted that moment.

“Please don’t get them offended again I beg you, I said crying with the impact of the blow but I felt him touching me as he was struggling with something, unknown to us he had a small knife he was using to untie himself slowly and when I saw that I became very anxious. My hands were also tied but not behind and the guy began to hum on his own and I noticed he got himself freed. He stylishly passed the knife to the other guy beside him who loosed himself while the guys were busy looking through the window not interested with what was going on this way, and the 3 were loosed.

They looked at me and knew mine will be so obvious because my hands were just in front while the guys kept pretending to sit with their hands still at the back as if they were still tied. I noticed their eyes were on the gun the guys held, and before I could say Jack! They all fell on them while I didn’t know where to hide just in case of missed bullet. I saw the fallen knife and struggled to pick it up with all the fight that went on.

They smashed their head on the glass and was able to get the guns fron them, before the driver could stop to take his gun to use on them, they shot him and the bus was just dancing on its own and ran into the bush. The guys quickly opened the door and held me and we threw ourselves outside the moving vehicle and took to our heels knowing there were 2 sport cars well armed which must have heard the gunshots from the bus.

God knows I don’t know where my legs directed me to but I ran to where the breeze carried me and at a point I saw I missed the guys but that didn’t matter anymore because we were not the only persons now in the bush.

The guys following Desmond also entered and I knew it will be a bloody battle. I had to stop to loose myself using the knife I carried in the bus while I heard the bush still shaking with movements and I had to hide.

I hid behind a big tree breathing hard, its been ages I exercised and this was an essential and impromptu exercise which I never knew I had the talent of running until it happened. There I heard gun shots and knew the battle has begun, but where will I run to?

Since the battle was seriously going on at East, I decided to run west while they keep themselves busy but I jammed with someone as if I saw a ghost. I wanted running back but he held me and hit me hard on my back that I fell,

“Where do you think you are going to Joan! Desmond shouted as I winced in pains on the bush litters.

“Who did you pay to burn my warehouse! He shouted holding me violently and I forced a smile.

“It was me, what will you do now? Does it hurt? I asked and he licked his lips and let go of me which I fell back.

“I knew it! He shouted.

“Thank God you did you bast*rd! Didnt I promise you that I’ll make you pay? And this is not the end Desmond, more is coming, more tragic ones that will make you run mad on the street naked because I will so hunt you and I will be your worst night mare! I said and he looked at me and began to laugh.

“Where are you taking that from? Its my fault you’re having the guts to talk to me with such audacity when I should have cleared you long ago. I decided to have sympathy on you and lowered myself to come to you so you can tell me what you want yet you made a fool out of me! Desmond shouted.

“But you’re a fool already, and you think clearing me will make you escape? No boy because you’ll suffer the more you and that harlot of a wife, I said and Desmond slapped me.

“Why? Is she not a harlot or you didn’t know? I asked him.

“Don’t you dare talk to her that way, you don’t know her! He shouted.

“Oh I do, maybe some part and that is the harlotry and heartless part of her you fool! I shouted back and he looked away and pointed a gun at me and I went backwards.

“You know I can leave your carcass here that you won’t even be identified, but you’re lucky because your friend wants to see you, and I’m sure she has the perfect gift for you, Desmond said and held me up as I struggled with him and kept on looking back to see if I will see the guys but I was pushed into the car.

I still had the pen knife at the band of my skirt as I closed my eyes sitting between 3 guys at the back while Desmond sat at the front with the driver.

“What happened to the guys? I asked Desmond.

“Consider them dead, and congratulations it will soon be your time, he replied.

“Sometimes I wonder what gives you the courage to be heartless yet you are still walking around free when you deserve to be executed. With all that gunshots the securities would have been on alert and do something, but the animal has escaped uncaught, i said and he laughed shaking his head.

“Keep dreaming darling, that’s what power and money can do, something you will never have, he replied smiling at me and I scoffed.

“Yes but that power couldn’t safe your precious warehouse or couldn’t stop your darling Precious to sleep around while in school despite your money. I can even mention names, especially a professor… What is that his name again, I said pretending to forget and I saw great anger in Desmond eyes then I knew I’ve got him.

“Joan, one more word from you and I swear to God I’ll cut your tongue. Its morning now and everyone is up and doing, shut up! Desmond said and I smiled saying nothing, but deep inside me I was shivering but pretended to be brave.

They branched into a lane and I knew they must be arriving their destination and my heart began to beat the more,

“You will not gain anything from me Desmond, whatever you want to do Desmond I promise you more tragic is coming your way, I said to him.

“Is that your last words? Desmond asked and drove into a building though completed but not painted and it was fenced with a gate.

I was dragged out and I looked at him as I was being held by the 2 guys on both hands.

“Let me go Desmond! I shouted on him and Precious came out.

“Oh, here comes the bitch, I said and she held me on my shirt and dragged me inside,

“Come here best friend we have a score to settle, she said and pushed me against the wall and I breathed out closing my eyes. I looked at the guys looking at me and knew I can’t touch her else I’ll be beaten blue black, but if it was just me, I would have given her yellow red beatings at a spot.

“Tell me about it Precious, how are you enjoying your married life? Are you scared of going back to your cheap harlot life now you’ll be broke huh? I asked and she looked at Desmond whose eyes was just pinned on her and she slapped me.

“The nerve of you to say that to me you lying cheap wretch! Was it me who told you to fall in love with my boyfriend despite I tried stopping you? But what did you do? You filled my ears with all the romantic doings you’ve had with him and you thought i was enjoying it huh? She asked and I looked at her and began to laugh and she looked confused.

“Oh so you had a boyfriend? A broke one for that matter but you were still chilling with the professors and doctors in school or is he not aware? Wonderful! I thought…….. “Shut up! Precious shouted opening all her eyes on me.

“Did you finally fix your womb? Oh I remember that time you were seriously sick that you lied it was an appendix, did he know it wasn’t an appendix after all? I dropped and she turned immediately to shoot me but Desmond pushed her and the bullet landed on my right arm.

“What are you doing? She asked Desmond.

‘What is she trying to say? Desmond asked her back while I held my hand and leaned on the wall breathing hard. I wanted to cry but somehow I was enjoying the way Desmond angrily held Precious hand with so much anger in his eyes and I was trying to understand the puzzle going on,

“I can’t believe this! You want to listen to her huh knowing she will say anything to safe her skin or come in between us, can’t you see what she’s trying to do? Precious shouted struggling with Desmond but he held her firmly.

“Then why do I see guilt in your eye? You are lying to me, Desmond said and she angrily hit his hand from her.

“You can think whatever you want but let’s not forget we brought Joan here for a reason, she said.

“Your reason not mine simply because you want her to sufffer slowly for burning the warehouse! Desmond shouted and I saw I was losing blood.

“You believe I will do that? Look at me, what men do I have that can burn down such a place with no exchange of bullets whatsoever, how is that even possible? What if its within you and you’re putting the blame on me, is it not enough I decided to let you two be and go on with my life and business? I asked them.

“Oh just shut up Joan shut up! If there’s any enemy of ours that will want us down and poor, that will be you and only you! Precious said approaching me and I remembered Spaco. At that point all I did was collide people heads together to see how I can escape from this mess,

“What about spaco? Don’t you know he has a beef with you because you once jailed him? I asked and Desmond looked at me.

“How did you know about that? He asked.

“Because he wanted to use me to get back at you but I backed out and that got him angry. He had his plans already before I met him and if there’s anyone you should question It should be him, I have nothing to do with the warehouse, I replied and he looked at me and paced around biting his lips.

“Dammit! He shouted and wanted running out but stopped and pointed at Precious,

“I’ll be back, wait for me and behave yourself, he said to her and ran out which the guys who quietly watched the show followed him also and I looked at Precious,

“Have you noticed you’re becoming so ugly? Oh I think I know, because you’re a man in disguise, little wonder how you were able to keep such a thing from him, smart girl, I said and she drew near to me that I could feel her breath on me even as she held the gun. Her eyes were red and I knew my mouth has touched the lion tail and gently also I managed to slowly bring out the pen knife as my only weapon,

“You dare say that to Desmond because i entrusted the secret with you right? She asked looking into my eyes.

“Then you were a fool trusting it with me in the first place, I replied.

“You’re right, I should be the only one to keep secret, she said and was about to cock the gun but I quickly hit her with my shoulder and wanted using the knife I held on my left hand on her but she touched the wound on my right arm and I screamed out but I could not leave her knowing that will be my death. Then I remembered my days in school when I used to fight with my teeth, and without wasting time as we struggled while she kept pressing on my wound deep, her ear was closed to my mouth and I bite it like a hungry dog and that when she screamed also and left me and unconsciously I passed the knife in her abdomen fixing it there and left her holding on my wounded arm as I watched her staggered looking at me.

“Did you just stambed me? Precious asked but I was breathing hard as tears rolled down my eyes and I fell down. I was in serious pains and very weak that I could not say anything to her, then I saw the gun and I weakly crawled to it and took it with my left hand while Precious was still struggling to breathe or to say something to me.

Then I heard Desmond voice commanding his boys on what to do and I understood its to get Spaco, my eyes were closing and I knew Desmond will surely finish me off if he sees what I did to Precious. Despite he was mad at her but that love was still there, and right there I thought about Chike and my siblings and thought of how sad they will be. I knew I was going to die by Desmond hands because there’s no way I will escape this, and slowly Precious closed her eyes while Desmond was still busy with the guys outside…………
