Blood Is Thicker Than Water - S01 E30

Diana’s POV

I was indeed happy for my friend Nancy when she reunited with her father after a long time he spent in a coma. After her father was released from the hospital, and we had made sure that he was okay, I and Charles returned to New York. But about a week to my wedding, I received a call from Nancy telling me that she was no longer getting married to Daniel. I asked her why? She told me that she caught him cheating on her and she was in tears on the phone. I asked her where she was? She told me that she was at JFK international airport in New York. I told her to wait there for me that I was coming to pick her up. When I got to the airport I met her and the colour had gone from her face. I took her to my car and drove her to my apartment. Once there, I drew her a warm bath and told her to go take a bath. When she was done bathing, I sat her down and asked so what happened? She said to leave her alone that she didn’t want to talk about it. I went to the kitchen and made us a sandwich with two warm glasses of milk. I returned to Nancy and gave her the food and I told her to eat up. After eating, I cleared the plates and washed them. Later on while I was watching television, Nancy came to me and said she wanted to tell me what happened. I reduced the volume of the television and told her that I was all ears. She took a seat beside me on the couch and said it was on his birthday last week and she added I went to give him a surprise visit at his office I walked in only to find him kissing his secretary and I said that that doesn’t equate to cheating and she said what? I said you heard me right and I asked her besides did you get an explanation from him? She said no that I was so mad and in tears that I ran away. I said you should have demanded an explanation from him and not jumped into conclusions. Then I asked you remember the time we met at that restaurant here in New York? She said yes that time we met after a long time and I said yes. I said that after our meal I and Charles walked out of the restaurant and a lady kissed him and even accused him of getting her pregnant and she was like Oh with her mouth open and her hand covering it. She asked me what then happened? I said that it was a hoax and that Charles told me that he didn’t know her from anywhere and she asked and you believed him? I said yes and added that I saw it in his eyes. I told her that it turned out that it was one of my former disgruntled employees that hired the lady to defame Charles and bring an end to our relationship. I said that I’m not saying that that was what happened in your own situation but she should give Daniel a chance to explain himself and I added Daniel loves you and I know he wouldn’t do anything to hurt you. I picked up the remote and increased the volume of the show I was watching on the television.

Nancy’s POV

Diana was right I should have given Daniel an opportunity to explain himself. I put a call through to him and he picked on the first ring and he asked where are you? I told him that I was in New York at Diana’s apartment and he said to wait for him there that he was coming. In less than 30 minutes I heard a knock on the door and Diana went to open and Daniel walked in. It looked like he hadn’t gotten any sleep for the past eight days, his hair was really undone and his eyes looked glassy. He asked me can we talk? Diana excused us and he went on his knees and said what you saw wasn’t what it looked like. I asked him what was it and don’t lie to me? He said that his secretary was in love with him but he didn’t know. Until that day you walked in on us. He added if you noticed I wasn’t kissing her she was the one doing the kissing. He said that he had fired her and that he wanted me back. I asked him that what assurances do I have that a thing like that wouldn’t repeat itself again? He told me that from now on he was going to have only male secretaries. And I told him that’s good and I accepted his apology and we were back together again. I asked him how did you get here that quickly? He said that he was in the neighbourhood for a business meeting when I called and I asked really? He said no that he put a tracker on me and that he knew that I was at Diana’s house and he added that he knew that Diana was going to talk some sense into me. Diana came out of the room and said oh good you two have settled your differences. Daniel said yes and added thank you and Diana asked for what? He said just for being here for her referring to me. Daniel then asked me are we still getting married in three days time? I said hell yes and we left Diana’s apartment and returned to Boston.
