Berry ‘s father rolled on the bed and notice his wife isn’t there with him on the bed, he touch around the bed side she slept on and still didn’t find her.

He grabbed the torchlight beside the lamp stand and left the bedroom occupied by him and his wife.

He stood on his doorpost as the cold early morning breeze hit him and he shivered in cold, he turned on the torchlight and moved it around to see if those people that were tasked to secure the compound are alert.

.

“Kai! This people no do wetin we send them” he said angrily gnashing his teeth, he walked to the restrooms unit but halt on the corridor when he heard murmuring. The murmuring stopped before he could decode what is happening, he heard movements.

.

He didn’t have the patience to wait as he slammed on the door, Smart jerk immediately as his hard d—k become flaccid immediately

“my husband” mama Berry said in a low scared voice, Smart eyes almost left it socket and his d—k slip into his trouser on it own accord..

“Mama Berry! Open this door before I break it” papa Berry thundered with his baritone voice,

Smart scanned the whole room to check an escape route, the only way out is the window.

“thief oh!” Mama Berry screamed immediately, Smart heaped on the window ready to jump out, the door flung open as papa Berry surge towards him and caught his short that tear off from the buttocks side and Smart jump down and ran into a cassava farm close to the yard.

“Thief oh!” Mama Berry cried out loudly, “shut up” papa Berry hushed her and went out of the bathroom, he took the other exit and open the gate. He stepped out of the yard and moved his torchlight around the dark, Smart laid inside the farm shaking with fear.

Papa Berry went inside locking the gate, he took his weeping wife inside without knowing what happened.

That night armed robbers attacked the rooms except Papa Berry own,

Smart door was empty when they entered. Smart stayed in the bush hearing all the scream, he laughed inwardly.

After the armed robbers left, he went inside his room through the window that he had kept open in case of emergency.

.

The next morning, people cried in the yard but Smart was asleep.

.

They blamed those who were asked to watch out for the night, and some frown at the soldier man in the yard who refused to come out and help them.

.

A Week Later

Smart rolled on his bed, he kept on rolling as he dreamt. He find himself standing before a grave that is written boldly rest on shivered. An old woman with a short broom and matchet appeared on the grave, she started dancing as money appeared on the surface of the grave. Smart was horrified as he watched from were he stood. He jerked up immediately from sleep, his body drenched with sweat.

Early that morning, Eunice was ready for school. She and her younger brother, she felt dizzy all of a sudden. Smart was watching from his doorpost, he was boiling water for tea when Eunice vomited right at there doorpost.

Smart eyes widen, as realization dawn on him. He quickly disappeared inside not wanting to be seen,.

Eunice mother saw Eunice vomiting as she watch her intently.

.

After she was done, she walked to her and felt her impulse “Eunice, who give you belle?” She asked her daughter angrily,

Eunice Shaked her head negatively.

.

Smart heard the commotion outside and started sweating, what kind of problems is this? He thought. He felt relief when Eunice‘s mother said they will go for a test when she returns from school.

.

Smart left the yard that day with the mindset of not coming back until everything is settled.

.

Two Months Later.

.

Smart returned back to the yard, after Eunice’s mother have aborted the pregnancy after her daughter alleged that Smart who is nowhere to be found is the owner, she later pointed another rascal who had get-down with her that has nothing to offer. Her mother had no choice but to abort the pregnancy.

That morning, Smart set his footsteps in the yard early Monday morning that everyone has left for his or her respective workplace or school.

Joeman was the only one left behind with his wife showing signs of pregnancy, immediately he sighted Smart “prodigal Smart” he said and laughed.

Smart glared at him angrily as he shut-up immediately when the police ordeal flash his mind.

“Honey, who be that?” Joeman’s wife asked and walked to the doorpost, she glared at Smart who was surprised to see her stomach size increased.

Smart quietly disappeared thinking this is the work of his enemies.

.

Smart didn’t go to work that day, he decided to go the next day. Nobody dared question Smart of Eunice’s pregnancy because of the fear of police officers

Smart was about changing up into his normal work uniform when one of his new apprentice Michael walked up to him “oga, good morning oh” he greeted Smart who mumbled response,

“Kemisola and her aunty come here, come fine you” he told Smart who wasn’t surprised, it seems like pregnancy is the new trend in his life.

“Anytime them come, tell them say I don travel go Mediuguri, tell them say Boko Haram fit kill me sef. Say make them forget about me kpatakpata!” Smart replied him and instructed him to tell his fellow too.

Aunty Sewa and Kemisola came to Smart shop that day, Smart hide himself inside his storeroom as his apprentices carried out his instructions

“sheyi you wan born pikin, you go born that pikin today!” Kemi aunty shouted at her and slapping her as she led her home.

After several weeks Kemi and her aunty with her household moved out of Lagos,

Smart celebrated it ’cause he won’t be bothered about pregnancy anymore. But he wasn’t comfortable with Joeman’s wife pregnancy and Mama Berry is about to give birth to his son.

Smart was busy thinking in the place he normally stays when he wants to relax, he saw Temiloluwa who came from the village to assist Berry ‘s mother. Temi is a Lite skin girl, not facially beautiful but endowed more than the normal girls,
