Charles’s POV

After I left Lillian’s house, on my way to dinner with my parents, I put a call through to Diana my fiancée and she picked on the third ring. I said hi babe and she responded hi darling. I said that Lillian’s mother was released from the hospital today and she exclaimed that was today! I said yes and I added you were supposed to come with us so you can see the house I bought for them and she apologised saying that I had so much work to do today and that I thought she was going to be released tomorrow and I said don’t worry you’re forgiven and I asked her where are you right now? She said that I’m still at the office and added why are you asking? I said that she should wait for me that I was coming to pick her up and she asked for what? I said that my parents invited me to dinner at their house and she said that her parents also invited her to dinner at theirs and she asked so what are we going to do? I told her not to worry that she should go to dinner with her parents while I do same with mine and we agreed and we ended the call. When I arrived at my parent’s mansion, it was one of the largest houses in the country sitting on about 10,000 acres of land and could only be compared to the Robinson estate but I think ours is bigger. When I drove in to the compound, all the staff at the house came out to greet me. I greeted them all and walked into the house and met the head maid a lady named Joan close to the entrance of the house and I asked are my parents at home? She said yes and I excused myself from her and walked into the house and the first person who came to greet me was my mother and she said my son is back. I said yes and went to give her a big hug and I asked so where’s dad? She said that your father is in his garden at the back of the house. I excused myself from my mother and told her that I wanted to go see dad. I walked round the house and found dad relaxing in his garden and as soon as he saw me he said hi son and I responded hi dad and he asked me to come sit with him and I did. He asked so how’s business? I said that business was fine. Just then, one of the maids came to inform us that dinner was ready and we moved to the dining room. Not before dad told me that he had something to discuss with me after dinner. After dinner which was exquisite by the way it was a five course meal, I and my father moved to his home office, where he showed me some documents of a piece of land he was trying to acquire in the city of London but there was a little holdup. He said to me I know you’re supposed to be planning your wedding right now but you’re the only one I can trust to do this. I asked him so you want me to go to London and find out what the holdup is and if possible complete the deal for the property right? He said exactly my son and I said consider it done and he had a huge smile on his face but I asked him for some time to get things at the company in shape and he asked so when would you be ready to go? I said to give me till the end of the week and he agreed. I wanted to take my leave to head home but my mother insisted I stayed and spent the night at their house and so I did.

Diana’s POV

After my call with Charles, I headed to my parents mansion to join them for dinner. Once I arrived at the house, all the maids came out to greet me and they asked so what did you bring for us? I told them to check in the trunk of my car throwing them my car keys. I walked into the house and met the head maid a lady named Margret and I asked her are my parent’s home? And she said yes in fact they are waiting for you. I excused myself from her and walked into the living room to find my father with his phone browsing I greeted him hi dad and I sat beside him. I asked him dad what are you doing? But he wasn’t paying any attention to me and I snatched his phone from his hand and he asked me what was that for? And I told him that it was because he wasn’t responding to me that was why I snatched his phone from him and he asked me to please give it back? I did and asked him what were you doing? He said I was checking the price of the company’s stock on the stock market and I asked so where’s mum? He said that your mother is in the kitchen and he added I don’t know why that woman insists on cooking all the food we eat in this house when we have maids. I laughed and excused myself from him saying that I’d like to go see mum and as I was approaching the kitchen I perceived my favourite food which is spaghetti and chicken sauce and I asked who is cooking my favourite food? My mother emerged from the kitchen and gave me a big hug and said my daughter are you okay you look lean and she asked have you been eating well? I said that I was fine but for the eating, that sometimes I eat only once in a day due to the responsibilities at work and she told me that after dinner that her and dad have something to discuss with me and I asked her hope it isn’t serious? She said you would find out after dinner. After dinner which was the best by the way, I went to the living room and sat in between my parents on the sofa and I asked so what is it you want to discuss with me? My father started, he said Diana my daughter since your graduation I know you’ve been practically running the company, I said yes dad it’s no problem it’s my responsibility and he said I know but you haven’t had any time to yourself. My mother chipped in eating only once a day and I gave her arm a slight nudge with my elbow and whispered into her ear I thought that was our little secret? She said I have no secrets from my husband and most especially when it has to do with my daughter’s health and my father said what we are trying to say is that you need a vacation and he added go to Paris, get your wedding gown and live a little and I told him that I’d love to do that but who would be running the company while I am vacationing? He said I’m ready to go back to work. I asked him are you sure you are healthy enough? He said yes and I agreed with them because there is no arguing with my parents when their minds are made up. But I asked my father to give me until the end of the week to get things in order for his return at the office and he agreed with me. I checked the time on the wall clock and I realised that it was past 10 pm I stood and wanted to take my leave when my mother asked me where are you going? I told her home and she asked at this time? And she insisted I spent the night at their house and so I did.
