“We have to run as fast as our leg could carry us; we have to leave now or never.” Daniel replied as we began the race.

“Daniel, the soldiers are behind us.” I whispered panting hard.

“We have to jump over the fence; we can’t take the gate route anymore.” Daniel uttered as he increased his pace.

“Okay, we are almost there.” I replied panting hard.

Daniel and I jumped over the fence but some set of soldiers are already in the bush with traps and ensnares.

“Ola, we haven’t escape o, there must be soldiers here in the bush and besides, the soldiers that are chasing us won’t stop unless they caught us.” Daniel whispered puffing.

“I also think so, so what do you think we can do?” I asked confusingly.

“I would have suggest we continue running but we are already exhausted with the little run we ran… I think we have to hide somewhere and take a little rest before we continue our marathons.” Daniel suggested.

“That’s brilliant; I pray we are not caught.” I commented and prayed.

“Amen… let go.” Daniel replied as he led the way.

“Oh my goodness, the soldiers here are with dogs.” I voiced out serenely.

“Shit! Our calculation is wrong.” Daniel expressed angrily.

“They are coming after us… let go.” Daniel concluded as he ran eastward, I ran after him. The soldiers with dogs do not relent trailing us, they kept trailing us with the dogs. Unfortunately for us, we got to the peak and the end of a mountain also a waterfall.

“Shit!” Daniel angrily sighed, just then a voice spoke from behind and we turned back.

“Stop there or I shot you.” A soldier threatened and we stopped.

“Daniel, what’re we going to do, we must not be taken back to the barrack.” I whispered.

“I’m equally confused…” Daniel replied whispering.

“What’re you discussing?” A soldier asked with some kind of husky voice.

“Arrest them.” The sergeant commanded and four soldiers moved forward with handcuffs in their hands.

“We can’t surrender easily, I will fight them.” Daniel elucidated and he ran towards the soldiers.

“Daniel, please stop.” I screamed loudly.

Daniel charged towards the soldiers. He hit a soldier with his punch and a thunderous slap follows, a soldier get hold of him in his left arm but Daniel bitten the soldier with his horror teeth, another soldier try his luck but he got his own share of Daniel’s miraculous and life-changing beating.

“Stop! Don’t fight him, he really want to die.” The sergeant uttered and the soldiers paused. The sergeant brought out his pistol and without a second thought he pulled the trigger and the echo of the gunshot could be heard loudly around the vicinity. The bullet hit Daniel on his left shoulder

“No!” I screamed loudly as I charged to get hold of Daniel. But unfortunately, Daniel staggered backward and he fell from the mountain into the cave.

“No!” I screamed loudly, without a second thought, I jumped after him and luckily, I was able to get hold of him. We got struck by a tree that grown behind the mountain.

“Thank you Jesus.” I appreciated with tears in my eyes.

“Daniel! Daniel!! Daniel!!! Daniel wake up.” I called and Daniel opened his eyes slowly.

“What are we going to do sir?” A soldier asked the sergeant.

“Nothing! They can’t survive it and eve n if they survive, they jumped into the territory of the red cap soldiers… so they can’t go scot-free.” The sergeant elucidated.

“Let go back to the camp.” He concluded and commanded.

NEXT DAY

LOCATION: COMPREHENSIVE HIGH SCHOOL (The Principal’s office)

KNOCK! KNOCK!!

“Who’s there?” Mr. Chorus asked from inside.

“It’s me Anume.” Mr. Anume replied.

“Oh! Please come in.” Mr. Chorus approved and Mr. Chorus slammed the door behind himself.

“Good morning sir.” Mr. Anume greeted.

“Good morning…” Mr. Chorus replied delightfully.

“Ehm… I was unable to use this system yesterday… it is displaying no bootable devices or something like that, and I heard you know a little about computer engineering.” Mr. Chorus uttered and he brought out the mini-Pc from its bag.

“No bootable devices? Can I take it home because I have to dismantle the system so that I can check the hard-disk.” Mr. Anume suggested and gave reasons for his suggestion.

“Sure… but can I get it back tomorrow because I have a lot of work to do with it.” Mr. Chorus replied.

“You will get it back tomorrow… can I take my leave sir?” Mr. Chorus replied and asked pleasantly.

“Sure, you’re free to go and less I forget, I need fifty thousand naira from the school fees of the students, transfer the money into my account, I will forward the account number to you.” Mr. Chorus elucidated.

“Okay sir.” Mr. Anume replied uninterestingly.

SAME DAY (EVENING TIME)

Mr. Chorus sat down quietly in the sitting room, he was reading a newspaper just then he remembered something vital and urgent.

“Oh my goddess, my system!” Mr. Chorus voiced out.

“The video Mr. Dave gave to me is stored in it.” Mr. Chorus murmured and he rose on his feet.

“What will I do?” Mr. Chorus uttered confusingly.

“Let me call him.” Mr. Chorus concluded. He picked up his phone from the stool and he dialed Mr. Anume’s number.
