“Daniel, you shouldn’t have done that… do you know the penalty for what you have done?” I voiced out fearfully.

“Ola, if I didn’t do what I did, I won’t get this.” Daniel replied and he showed me a bunch of key.

“Oh my God, Daniel… I don’t even know what to say.” I voiced out surprisingly.

“We have to act fast and we must get out of here before the sunrise.” Daniel replied whispering.

“But Daniel, don’t you think this is ridiculous, we are not safe if we try to escape, beside they will think we are the real culprits and that is why we ran away.” I gave our decision a second though. I looked at Daniel and I could see the enragement in his eyes.

“Ola, sometimes, you talk as if you’re an idiot, you talk as if you don’t have anything upstairs, what is wrong with you?” Daniel rebutted angrily.

“I’m sorry Daniel but…” I begged but unfinished.

“Ola, if you are not coming with me, you may stay here forever, it seems you’re really enjoying the tortures and beatings from the soldier, and it seems you really want to pay for the crime you did not commit. Ola, I am leaving here tonight and nothing, I mean nothing can stop me from leaving here.” Daniel replied whispering.

“But Dan, what if we were caught by the soldiers?” I asked fearfully.

“Do you think the person standing here in front of you is a fool? Only an idiot will get caught by the soldiers.” Daniel replied courageously.

“Are you coming with me or not?” Daniel asked with frown face.

“No, you can go idiot.” I replied and I hit him playfully.

Daniel brought out a book from a dark place in the jail, he looked into my eyes and he smiled. He opened the book and to my greatest surprise, the book shows the map of the whole Barrack.

“Daniel, this is the map of the barrack.” I uttered surprisingly.

“I stole this from a lackluster soldier few days ago and I think this will surely help in our escape.” Daniel replied smiling.

“Daniel, I envy you o, how long have you been planning this?” I asked with smile all over my face.

“I started planning this the day we were brought here, and today is the day I plan to execute the mission.” Daniel replied as he open the next page of the map.

“Wow! You’re such a brave, clever and courageous guy.” I hailed whispering.

“How I wish I’m like you.” I uttered and Daniel placed his left hand on my right shoulder.

“Ola, we all have a role to play in this world to make living better and enjoyable. I know I may be clever, brave and courageous, but who knows if God gave me all this so that I can use it in this kind of situation. Ola, I believe no one is useless, we are all useful. Take a look at yourself, you’re brilliant, intelligent, calm and humble and above all, you’re very talented in writing, so believe me, no one is useless, we useful. Ola, promise me you’ll always remain yourself.” Daniel paused.

“I promise, and you must also do same?” I asked.

“Sure… Ola, we are going to take the route that lead to the bus…” Daniel began.

“Sure, that’s the easiest way out of the barrack, also the toughest route.” I said with mix feeling.

“Toughest? How?” Daniel asked puzzled.

“I heard some soldier taking about wide animals killing soldiers in the bush.” I replied.

“Wild Animals? Don’t worry about that, I believe God will see us through all those dangerous animals.” Daniel replied smiling.

“Also, we can’t leave this place like this, we have to change from the cloths and we must also camouflage the soldiers that are securing the gate that lead to the bush.” I uttered.

“Cloths? That’s true o, but as for the securities, that is a minor thing, I can take care of that.” Daniel retorted boldly.

Daniel looked out from the small window, he smiled and he turned back to me.

“Ola, don’t worry I will steal those cloths on the wire.” Daniel said pointing to some cloths hanged on a long wire.

“Hmmm… I will have to go out and get the cloths, you’ll stay here and wait for me, and we’re going to dress here before we start out mission.” Daniel suggested, he walked to the small gate and he opened it silently.

“Have the key.” Daniel said and he handed to me the bunch of key. He tiptoe out the jail and he looked out from a corner he hides. Luckily, it seems there is no soldier around the vicinity. He tiptoe to the wire and he get the cloths, he turned back and to his utmost surprise, a soldier pointed a gun at him.

“Who are you?” The soldier asked with some kind of husky voice.

“Me? I am somebody, born out of somebody, to the family of somebody.” Daniel replied unworried.

“Do you think I am here for your dry jokes? It seems you are one of the rapists that raped Chief Chris daughter.” The soldier rebutted softly.

“Me? I’m not a rapist o, just that I was falsely accused.” Daniel replied with eyes soak with tears.

“What is Daniel doing all this while, he supposed to be here by now… Oh, hope it is not what I’m thinking?” I murmured rhetorically. I ran to the small window and I looked out through it, I could see the soldier held the left hand of Daniel, he was dragging him forcefully.

“What should I do?” I asked rhetorically. I ran to the small gate and I unlocked the gate.

“Soldier, it seems you really what to face my wrath.” I could hear Daniel threatening the soldier, but the soldier continued dragging Daniel.

“Shut up, you’re disturbing me with your noise.” The soldier blasted and landed a thunderous slap on Daniel’s left cheek.

“What should I do? Daniel must not be taken away, else, that mean we have priced for our doom.” I thought fearfully. I looked at the ground and I saw a log of wood.

“This can do it.” I whispered. I picked up the log of wood and I ran out from my hidden place and I ran to the soldier, and I strike him with the wood, he groaned in pain. Daniel collected the wood from me and he struck him harder.

“Daniel, it is okay, don’t let him die in our hands.” I begged and Daniel dropped the wood on the floor panting.

“Let move.” Daniel uttered, we dressed up, just as we are about to leave we heard a loud echo of whistle blew behind us.

“Oh my goodness, he has alerted the other soldiers. We are wanted” Daniel whispered confusingly.

“What’re we going to do now?” I asked mystified.

“We have to run as fast as our leg could carry us; we have to leave here now or never.” Daniel replied as we began the race.

“No, you’re only torturing me for nothing because I don’t have anything to say on this matter.” GUESS THE SPEAKER… 98.0% MUST GUESS WRONG. LOL.
