Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 35

The movement for the abolishment of slave trade was not an easy task. Ukeh had to sneak out on various occasions for meetings. He wanted to pass a message to NTI and Amara to make them know that He was alive and he would come for them soon but he didn’t want to risk exposing them to danger.

The abolitionists kept on growing day by day. New whites and blacks kept on joining the crew. And for Ukeh could not thank God enough for HIS word that have melted the hearts of the whites to see them Africa as equals.

After 7months of planning, the day finally came. They held a meeting and they agreed that it was time to come out openly and speak out for their freedom.

Kelvin told Ukeh to remember that once they’ve been exposed there won’t be a going back.

“My father and other slave traders cannot do us anything but you blacks, they will hunt you down one after the other, they will try to kill you one after the other until they shut you up completely because they do not want you to be free. Are you sure you are ready for this. He asked again.

“My name is Ukeh, I am the son of a lion, and a lion does not give birth to a monkey. I am fully ready, I will fight for my freedom and that of my people. I will fight as David fought and I know with God on my side victory shall be mine.

And so Kelvin, little Tom and others took the African who were among the abolitionists to a warehouse underground. It was stucked with food and water.

“Where is this place? ” Ukeh asks

“This is a safe house for you all, This is war and once it begins you definitely can’t go back to your masters. You must return here unnoticed by anyone. Here you can stay safe until we move out again.”

Then Frederick Douglas bought out some guns which he gave to each of them numbers about 27. You must protect yourselves. Kill or be killed.

Ukeh collected the gun but prayed silently for God to help him so he wouldn’t kill anyone.

Then they all stepped out with placards , whites and blacks together. Some were written “we are all equals in the sight of God”, “we are humans just like you, we are not animals”, We have feelings, we feel pains and we die just like you” “say NO to human trafficking and slave trading”, “Black life matters we are not animals”, “Africans are humans too”, “Our skin color may be different but we are all thesame”

As they carried these placards they matched into the streets of the united states shouting

“We demand our freedom”

“We deserve to live”

“We deserve to be free”

“We are all equal”

“We are not Animals”

Ukeh was at the front, raising his placard high and shouting at the top of his voice. He could hear his entire body vibrating and his thoughts telling him

“Do this so that your sister, Nma and you unborn children can be free forever”
