Shola’ POV

“Doctor, what do you mean? Shaking your head doesn’t answer my question” I asked the short bald headed shrout man probably in his mid 50s

“Whoever attacked him did a lot of damage. He is in a very critical state but we will try our best He has been put on oxygen…

I breathe a huge sigh of relief knowing there was some hope. My only wish at that time was that he should survive

“What are his chances of surviving, Doctor”? I asked still worried

“Well, his chances are 15% because we have all sophisticated instruments to handle such a case. Had it been he was in another hospital he wouldn’t have survived” the doctor replied…

“We will need a deposit of 3.5million before we can run further tests on him. Please get to the cashier and bring a receipt to my office. Every second counts maam. I would start rushing if I were you” the doctor added as he quickly turned and returned to her office.

I had no idea how I was going to raise the money but I had to. Life was more precious than any amount of money. My dad had just sent my allowance of 450,000 which I used part of it to acquire Jade’s birthday gift. I stood outside the hospital building thinking about my next move.

A black Hummer Jeep drove into the hospital compound and two men stepped out. One of them was a young man and the other was an old man in his early 60s wearing an “agbada”. He tucked his agbada dress to his shoulder as he stepped out of the car. Then another lady stepped out of the vehicle. It was a familiar face. The lady looked like Anne the househelp. I looked more closely and saw that she looked so familiar. The stress had probably gone to my head because I had a lot in my mind. It couldn’t be her…I snubbed and left not certain about where I would get the balance.

Jade POV…

A white being stood in front of me…it muttered some words which I couldn’t hear. I could only hear it calling my name in a feminine voice.

“J-boy, j-boy…..!” it called as my vision became blur and blur. The voice suddenly stopped and became more real as my eyes gradually opened. The face I saw was familiar…

“Anne, is that you? I asked with difficulty, trying to come to the reality that I was still alive.

“J-boy, it’s me” she said as she bent herself and hugged me on the bed. She looked so much beautiful and her clothing was expensive. She wore make-up and her lips glowed… Streams of warm tears trickled from my eyes and wet the bed as I hugged her. I felt life again. There was something about Anne which gave me energy and hope. I felt I was part of her somehow.

“Am sorry, things didn’t go as planned. I wanted to come visit you at the inn…

“Shhhh” she interrupted as she lose herself from me. I wanted to stand up but I felt a very severe pain in my head which caused me to lay back on the bed. I cried more, realising I was helpless. My memories began coming back, causing more pain as my brain restored itself. Within the flash of 5 seconds I felt a sudden rage. I felt like taking life…the life of Mrs. Ola. I was blood-thirsty at that moment…

Shola’s POV.

I returned to the mansion to report what had happened to my sister’s husband so she could apprehend her criminal wife and make her face justice while we sought for a solution on how to raise money for Jade’s operation. I opened the door and found Ola in tears…

“Honey, he tried to rape me, he lured me into his room and started undressing me. When I wanted to run out, he held me and pushed me to his bed. I…..I managed to fight my way back up but he pushed me again. I was defending myself, am sorry. The gateman you brought here is a rapist…he tried to rape me” she said in tears as she leaned on her husband’s chest and cried more. I was dumbfounded and dazzled. I couldn’t believe my sister could dish out such horrific stories. I watched her shed crocodile tears on the shoulders of her ignorant puppet husband. I didn’t know my sister anymore. She had become something else….a beast. I couldn’t find a good adjective to describe what she had turned into…
