Never in my life, have I been more surprised, speechless, and excited like this particular night… I almost cried because of extreme joy…. Here was Riley in front of me on one knee, holding a beautiful ring in his hands.. The ring was so captivating, it shone bright as the moon light reflected on it.. All I could do was stare and listen excitedly as Riley said those heartfelt words, finally he said the magic words I’ve been waiting for him to ask….

I had to take a minute and think about how my life would be with Riley if we got married… What would our kids be like?.. Will it work out well? Since we love each other and there are no secrets between us.. It has to… I couldn’t help but wonder what my family would react if they heard I accepted Riley’s proposal… Would they support me or would they be angry at me.. Would they cast me out? All this thoughts clouded in my mind,.. I looked at Riley’s eyes and saw the yearning look in his eyes.. He loves and pines for me.. Even after regaining his memory, he still came back to me.. I could remember the first day we met at campus.. He was the first human to treat me kindly and made me feel welcome… I could even remember the hardship he had to go through because of me.. All that pain and torture should have made any person forget about me but he still stood by me.. I need no any other reason to love him,.. Riley is my future and I will marry him, I don’t care what the others think.. I want him and I want to be with him for the rest of my life.. I want to be his wife, the mother of his kids and his comfort… To hell with natural balance.. I’m going marry this man.

After taking a nice long deep breath, I smiled into Riley’s face and gave him my answer..

Christen Yes… Riley…. I will marry you..

I’ve never seen a anyone so happy like the Riley is right now when I accepted his proposal… He inserted the ring into my index finger, after that he stood up raising me high up with his hands and gave me a loving kiss, We spent some minutes locking lips lovingly… In that moment, we heard a cracking sound of dried leaves which interrupted us.. We quickly looked at the direction and saw Rose…

She stood still staring at us intently…. I’ve never seen her look so mean and vicious and with that look of hers, I knew she must have heard and saw everything… Riley stood next to me holding my waist tight, This made Rose very, very angry… Then of all a sudden, she began to laugh cynically, from the shrill sound of laughter in her eyes I knew something bad was going to happen. After she was done laughing, she gave us one evil look that was us both shake in fright, if looks could kill, her would have.

Rose Isn’t this cute? So Christen… You went on ahead to accept his proposal….. Really? Let me guess.. You’re planning to have a family with a human… When I think of it.. I see one big silly fantasy that will never happen.

Christen What are you doing here? Can’t you see you’re ruining our happy moment?

Rose sure didn’t waste time in calling all our relatives together and like hypocrites.. They showed up, it’s been a century seen I’ve last seen some of them, they’ve not even bothered to visit at all but when it came to something like this, they showed their faces.

The room we all sat in was quite big to contain at least 200 people, Riley and I sat together in one sofa, while some stood, while some sat. My father, Eli was there, Grandma Wuroala, Aunt Jezebel, Judith, Oliver and of course Rose.. Amongst some of my family were…

1- Simi, a witch of misfortune, she has the power to alter one’s life in a very bad way..of course she can only do that to humans or low powered witches. Of course she’s a cousin of mine and a very arrogant b*tch.

2- Bimpe as the name imply is very beautiful.. She’s a witch of charm and seduction.. She uses her powers to get any man she wants.. Her look alone was enough to make any weak minded man to submit to her will. She’s also a cousin of mine.

3 Adejumo is a distant cousin of mine, he’s an elite wizard whose power isn’t yet figured out… He has the ability to accelerate or decrease the lifespan of any living being.. This alone makes him dangerous.

4 Aline is my late mother’s cousin.. She’s an elite witch on a whole different level…. She’s earned a nickname for herself which is the Screeching death.. Her magic power gives her the ability to take someone’s life with a small but terrifying scream.. When I was young I’ve heard stories about her, among the ones I’ve heard was that she killed an entire village in the late 16 century with just her scream.. This was alone was enough to make everyone stay clear off her path..

5 And lastly, there was my great grand uncle, Ferdinand… He was the oldest wizard in our family.. Nobody knows how old he is and he never told anyone how old he was.. He is grandma Wuroala’s uncle.. Uncle Ferdinand like Judith is a time wizard, but he’s power far exceeds Judith’s a thousand times.. I heard that he could reverse time for an hour.. No time witch or wizard could be able to do that, they could only bend time for 3 or 4 mins.. I also heard that he could see the future and past of someone by just touching them.. Many have asked him what their future would be like but he never told them, he warned that if he did tell them the secrets of the future, that there was be imbalance in order of time.. Thereby sending this present time into a turmoil.

After everyone arrived, The meeting started… My father first stood up and made his statement.

Eli Evening everyone for coming to untimely gathering.. We’re all here because one of our own kind, Christen has decided to bring shame to us all by accepting a human’s proposal to marry him.. This world has a balance.. Nature has its balance.. It is impossible for a w*tch and humans to coexist let alone marry one another.. This idiocy must be stopped.

After that he sat down giving me a scornful look.. Our relatives shook their heads looking at my direction.. In that moment, Simi stood up as well and gave her speech.

Oliver Evening brothers and sisters, uncles and Aunts.. I believe what you all said is true but I’ve been thinking lately about my sister’s relationship with Riley.. Yes.. Riley is indeed human but he’s not like the rest.. Ever since mom died, Christen has been staying away from everyone.. I was worried about her thinking, she would spend the rest of her life being sad and alone, but that all changed when she met Riley.. To be honest.. I don’t know what she sees in him but I think he’s a good influence on her.. Thanks to him, Christen is now smiling again and she now hangs out with people instead of being a loner.. I wouldn’t mind if she married Riley..

I was surprised when I heard that, I never knew Oliver would support my relationship with Riley.. I was even more surprised to see that he cared for me this much.. Over the years Oliver had just been having his own fun tirelessly, I never knew he was disturbed by my plight.

Before he could talk more, he was interrupted by Aunt Aline.

I was touched and surprised by Riley’s words.. I never knew he was this bold standing and facing my family like that.. Everyone became quiet after that,… Shortly after that, Uncle Ferdinand stood up and stared at us.
