Marriage Counseling And Wedding Plans

{Sarah’s Narration}

~~Six Months later~~

I was beginning to think time had suddenly stopped in order to deny me the opportunity to marry Martin. But alas!!! It had arrived. The day had arrived. The day I had been looking for, to be legally united to Martin. I was already looking forward to our first sex on our Honeymoon amidst blue candlelight. I felt so excited that no music artist could effectively describe how I felt in his or her song. The feeling was angelic. It will be like those fairy tale weddings seen in Hollywood movies. I could imagined Martin taking off my wedding gown in the secret recesses of the Garden of Roses. Then he would reach for my______”

“Sarah, are you daydreaming again?” Martin’s voice cut through my fanciful post wedding scenes.

I smiled at Him as said, “Yes, my dear. I can’t wait for next week to come. I wish I can fast forward the time.”

Martin laughed hysterically. If wishes were horses, beggars will ride. Stop those fanciful thoughts and focus on the prenuptial arrangement. I knew one week from now, all my dreams and wishes of having Martin to myself would be realised. There, nothing would be able to separate us. I have suffered enough to love Martin. Thank God I never give up.

Preparing for marriage involves more than throwing a party to celebrate and enjoy love.The marriage counselling session was one big boring session. We sat down in front of a Counsellor called Mr.Kyerema. He was also a pastor in Our church. He said “Keep in mind that you bring your own values, opinions and history into a relationship, and they might not always match your partner’s. It was his counselling on sex that really caught my interest.

Let me let you in on a little secret. Our honeymoon won’t take place in a hotel room. We will have it in a garden called the Garden of Roses. We will stay in a house made of flowers and close to a crystal clear river. A river which was so clean that you can see the reflection of your face on the surface of the water. There the birds will chirp for us. We wouldn’t brook any interference because that is the Garden in which we will make our first baby. I hope it will be a boy and he will resemble my husband- to – be.

“Sarah , we need to remind all the functionaries of the date and their roles especially the officiating ministers, the ushers and usherettes, wedding coordinators and master of Ceremony,” Martin said to me.

It’s true and let’s not forget the photographer. I need to consult Cozy couture at Trade Fair Centre for my gown and M2M house of Bespoke for your Suit.

Don’t worry about the Suit, I will get it myself. I need to assess it first, Martin said.

Ok, then I will check out Decoration, wedding cake from the Bakers Bar, Gh- Marina Mall and invitation cards from Kwasi BioGraphics

“Yea, that’s good,” said Martin.And the bouquet too. I have to talk to Missevy.

By now, am sure you realized planing for a wedding is no child’s play. Our preparation took so many months but it felt as if we were just starting. All this headache for one big event. Honestly, I wished we could skipped the wedding and go straight into the business that occurred after the wedding. As it is now, it is a requirement we need to fulfil for the sake of the church, society and ourselves to a large extent.
