Dr. Clark’s Shocking Message And

Stephen’s Dream.

A week later

Martin was in Stephen’s house one Sunday after church when Doctor Clark paid him a visit. He parked his Toyota Land cruiser in front of their house. When he alighted from the car, He looked quite worried. It was boldly emblazoned on his face. Luckily, he met Mr. Stephen Donkor in the house. The Doctor told Stephen he had a serious announcement to make, which involved Martin.

It was a very enerving moment.

Stephen summoned his nuclear family-Mrs. Donkoh Lucy, Sarah, Manilla, Jacqueline and Martin. Doctor Clark said, “I am sorry Stephen, I made a great mistake in the Analysis of the DNA test Result. Martin is actually your biological son. It’s incontrovertible. I come here to apologize for the error in the analysis.”

When Martin heard what the doctor said, his knees went numb and his heart stopped beating at once. Beads of Sweet broke his skin suddenly. He asked himself, “does it means I nearly committed an abomination with my sister?”

There was something missing in Doctor Clark’s temperament. He wasn’t his usual self. The whole family was unconvinced by the Doctor’s declaration but remained mute.

The family may not know about Medicine but they have their own intuitions to guard them.Only one person was unmoved by the Doctor’s announcement; Mrs Donkor Lucy. She looked quite amused by the announcement. This announcement had one obvious implication for Sarah and Martin. If Sarah was my sister, then Martin can’t marry her.

The dream

Mr. Donkor Stephen had a dream in which Lucy began to show symptoms of pregnancy. He was happy. This could be the result of our last love -making. He was at his work place when he received a call from the hospital that his presence was needed and that his wife gave birth to a baby boy. Out of sheer joy, he rushed to the hospital with his mother Alice and sister Rhoda. A doctor welcome him. It wasn’t Doctor Clark. “Please, where is my wife and my baby boy,” he hurriedly asked.

The Doctor looked at him for a long time and you, “you mean her baby boy?”

When the doctor said,” “her baby boy, “ he was confused until he saw the child in her hand. Surely, the baby was not his child. The child resembled someone he knew very well from head to toe. Even a blind man could see that. Stephen’s mother and sister were angry and disappointed in Lucy and rained curses on her. Anger engulfed Stephen’s heart and he smashed Lucy’s head on the wall on which her bed leaned.

The impact broke her skull and the baby boy fell from her hands. She screamed for help, but he smashed her head again and again until she stopped shouting. She became unconscious. His mother and sister looked at me, in shock, asking, “Is she dead?”

He woke up from his dream screaming. Lucy was beside him , looking completely mesmerised. “Darling, it’s just a nightmare, “she said. The dream looked so real to him to just be a nightmare. Was Lucy cheating on me?” The dream left him broken and paranoid for days but he never asked her any question.

Three weeks later

As the branch Manager, Stephen’s Insurance Company sent him to represent the company in Florida where there would be one-week international forum on insurance policies. He left Ghana for Florida the next day. The forum was quite engaging and he learnt a lot of things on insurance policies that he never knew existed before. Every day was an opportunity to learn new things. One week later, the forum came an end. He boarded the British airways and headed towards Ghana.

When he touched down at the Kotoka International Airport the next day, he glanced at his watch. It was Friday, 9.00 am.He called the Company’s driver to pick him directly from the airport to the work place. The driver came within ten minutes. Upon reaching the workplace, the Managing Director debriefed him, and he gave a detail report of the forum.

The company’s driver drove him home. Upon reaching home, he dialled his wife’s phone number but she was unreachable. Her phone was switched off.

He decided to visit Dr. Clark at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for him to clarify issues surrounding the DNA test result which he intuitively doubted.

His inconsistencies were causing confusion in his family. When he reached the Hospital, the doctor wasn’t there. Upon further interrogation, another Doctor who identified himself as Dr. Wattenberg Fred told him Dr. Clark had a day off and would likely be at home.

Dr. Wattenberg gave Stephen a vivid direction to Dr. Clark’s house. Stephen drove his car towards Dr. Clark’s Residence. When he got closer the Doctor’s House, he could hear ecstatic noises emanating from his room, followed by happy cries and moans, “Ehh, ahhhh, ummmmm, Doc, be gentle !!!” His heart skipped a bit.

He wished what he was thinking of was not what was happening there.

He quickly entered the house, knocked on the door but realised it wasn’t locked. He pushed the door quietly. The voice of the female moaning inside the room was familiar to him, no doubt about that. As if now sure of what he was thinking of , he opened the door more widely. What met her eyes was amazing, so chilling and so real to be true. It was a shocker that almost made him faint. _____.
