How Lucy Met Stephen

Honestly, Lucy, Sarah’s mother had never liked Martin. From the day her husband made the announcement that Martin will be coming to see his “half-sisters,” Sarah, Manilla and Jacqueline, she had never been herself. Mr. Donkor Stephen used to be Doreen’s boyfriend. And Doreen was Lucy’s best friend.

It was Doreen who introduced Stephen to Lucy one day when he came to take her out for dinner.

Upon seeing Lucy, Stephen decided to take the two of them out instead. When they went to the restaurant Lucy could see how Stephen was stealing glances at her and that made her uncomfortable.

At a point, she told Doreen she wanted to leave. She lied she had some important works to do, thus the need to set off early.

The truth was, she was also admiring Stephen. He was too handsome to be ignored. Whenever their eyes locked in a gaze, a secret message was transmitted between them and the message was clear. Stephen desired her and she desired Stephen.

All these things took place at the blindside of Doreen who never thought her friend Lucy could desire her boyfriend.A few months later, Stephen fell sick at a time Doreen’s mother also fell sick.

Since Doreen couldn’t take care of boyfriend and mother who were in different geographical locations at the same time, she suggested to her friend Lucy to take care of her boyfriend Stephen while she attends to her own mother in the village.

Lucy was grateful for the opportunity. After Doreen left for the village, She went to see Stephen and explain the situation to him. He had no option than to accept it. He was down with fever. Lucy was then an Owner of a boutique so she had more time to take care of the sick Stephen. Even on his sick bed, she could see his desire for her.

The lust burning in his eyes was so unmistakable that even a babe could see it. Despite his obvious desire for her, he never has the courage to utter the words because he thought she will reject him, knowing Lucy and Doreen were friends. She cooked for him, swept his room, washed his dishes, gave him the prescribed medicines and chatted with him.

Within a week and a half, he recuperated. He was so much appreciative of her indefatigable assistance to him. In order to show his appreciation, he bought a nice pair of blouse and skirt, three lady’s bags and shoes.

Stephen went to her home.

Luckily, She was home when he came. “Please take these things. They are my gifts to you for taking care of me during my sickness,” he said.

Lucy was so excited for his show of gratitude that she embraced him with glee.

That embrace was the last stroke that broke the camel’s back. Her Oxytocin level rose high, and she clung to him tightly. He lifted her onto the couch in her sitting room. After heavy petting and caressing, they made love until exhaustion set in. Realization dawned on her that they had crossed the red line. She had slept with her friend’s boyfriend.

That erotic encounter became the benchmark for their secret affair even after Doreen returned from his mother’s village. Her behaviour towards Doreen changed by default. Doreen noticed how cold her friend had become towards her so she asked her, “Lucy, have I done something to you? ”

She answered. “No, Doreen, why?”

Doreen answered, “I realised you had changed towards me, like I am now your enemy. Have Stephen done something to you when I was away?”

“Something like what? “she asked, a bit guilty.

“Well, I don’t know, maybe he did something you don’t like and you

were angry with him and extended it to me since I am his girlfriend.”

Unconsciously, she laughed and said, ” Girlfriend? Well, he didn’t do anything I don’t like. He rather did what I like.”

Doreen looked at her with a serious face and asked, what do you mean by that question, ” Girlfriend? ” and that expression, “He rather did what I like.”

“Nothing, Doreen,” she said and left.

Secrets have a way of revealing themselves. It wasn’t long before the cat was left out of the bag. Lucy got pregnant and eventually confessed to Doreen that her boyfriend was responsible for her pregnancy.

She was so shocked and angry with Lucy for betraying her that she hit her hard on the head with a big stick. She fell down unconscious and had to be hospitalised for weeks.

Lucy eventually lost her pregnancy due to the severity of the knock she received from Doreen. Stephen saw Doreen as an evil woman.He then severed all ties with her and got married to Lucy. Since then, they became mortal enemies.

Lucy again tried all that she could to give birth within the first two years but no pregnancy or even its symptoms came, despite several nights of lovemaking with Stephen.

To her, those two years were like two hundred years. In the third year of her marriage life,she couldn’t believe herself when she missed her period and went to the hospital, only to be told that she was two weeks pregnant.

Nine months later, She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She decided to call her Sarah , after the biblical Sarah who had to wait for 39 years for God to fulfil his promise to give her a child, before being blessed with Isaac when she was already over ninety years. ( Genesis 11: 30, 21 : 1- 2)

She often remembered how Doreen hit her with a big stick when she stole her man sending her into coma. Whenever lucy saw Martin,it reminded her of how she betrayed her friendship with his mother by sleeping with her boyfriend Stephen who had became her husband.

Lucy was determined to ensure that the relationship between Martin and Sarah never worked because Doreen may use Martin as a bait to avenge herself again. She thought of a plan. Smiling wickedly, she dressed up, took her bag and headed towards…. Someone.
