A Twist of Fate - S02 E07

Onochie held the bars of the dungeon with his

head relaxing on it. He called the guard that sat

close to the dungeon and he came

“My Prince, you called me” He said bowing his

head a bit

“Yes, please I want you to do something for

me” Onochie said and the guard looked at him

“What is it my Prince?” He asked

“Please call Charles for me” Onochie said with a

low tone

“But My Prince, you know that it is not

possible” The guard said

“I know but please do this for me” Onochie

pleaded

“If the Igwe finds out he will sack me or I will

loose my job which I don’t want to” The guard

said shaking his head and Onochie exhaled

“I promise, he won’t know. Please” Onochie did

all he can to convince the guard. He even

promised him a lot of things when he comes

out of the dungeon. Later on, the guard

accepted

“Thank You” Onochie appreciated and the guard

left. Few minutes later, he came back with

Charles who rushed and held the hands of

Onochie

“It has been hell without you Bro” Charles said

“Mom and Dad has been in conflict. Dad hears

no plea” Charles said and Onochie became very

weak by his words

“I want you to do something for me” Onochie

said to Charles

“What is that Bro? Anything at all” Charles said

and everywhere became silent..

Charles drove to the same point where they

normally see Ada. He waited for minutes yet

he didn’t see her. He asked so many people

that were passing by, yet no one could

understand his description. Time ran faster and

hours passed on. Charles lost hope of seeing

Ada, so he went home. He came to the place

for two more days but didn’t see her and he

was worried.

“She Passes here everyday” He said

“What is this?” He asked further as he stretched

his neck to see if he would see any figure like

Ada but he saw nothing.

“Shit Mehhnn!! Onochie is gonna die if he hears

a negative news again” Charles said as he sat on

the body of his car on an all white suit attire. As

he lost hope again, he put on his dark glasses

and drove home. He horned on the gate and

the gate man opened up. With an unsatisfied

heart, he drove in with speed and came out

immediately. Rushed up the stair case and

opened his door. To his surprise, Lolo was in

the room. He was shocked and at that, he

entered with a smile

“Where have you been?” Lolo asked and

Charles was fast thinking to know what to reply

her

“Me?” Charles asked

“Yes you. You left early with the consent of no

one. You didn’t even leave with a guard. All

alone in this kingdom” Lolo said

“I am sorry” Charles apologized

“You are sorry?.. What is something bad

happened to you?? What if you fell into the

arms of evil men.. What if…” Lolo tried to

continue her assumption but Charles

interrupted

“What if it won’t happen again?” Charles asked

and Lolo looked at him. Without much words

they hugged each other

“Please don’t leave me alone again at this

time” Lolo said

“I won’t Mom. Don’t worry, Onochie will be out

very soon” Charled said and they cut the hug.

Lolo walked towards the door and turned back

“I have already informed the elders in Council.

They will soon be here, so dress up” Lolo said

“What?.. You shouldn’t have done that Mom”

Charles said

“That is to show your father how serious I am”

Lolo said and left immediately. After a while,

Charles changed his dress and sneaked out to

the dungeon.

“So, what’s the news?” Onochie asked excitedly

expecting a good news from Charles

“I didn’t see her” Charles said and Onochie

laughed

“You must be joking right?” Onochie said

“Such jokes are expensive you know” Onochie

added

“I know but I am not joking” Charles said and

Onochie’s mood changed

“C’mon Bro, I didn’t say that she is dead. Cheer

up a little” Charles said

“Doesn’t she go to the market again?” Onochie

asked

“That I can’t tell Bro” Charles said and Onochie

went back and sat down in a pitiable way

“I know how you feel Bro” Charles said and

tried leaving but Onochie called him back

“Thank You” Onochie said and Charles smiled

and left..

AT THE COUNCIL ROOM

“My Elders, I greet you” Igwe said

“Igwee!!” They all responded

“May you live long” They added. Lolo and

Charles sat besides the King.

“What brings you here because I cannot recall

having a meeting with you my elders” Igwe said

and they all laughed

“Igwe, can’t we come to see our king again?”

Emetamma asked and they all laughed hitting

their walking sticks on the ground

“Gbam!!” Maazi Egbuna said as the laugh

continued. Even the Igwe laughed but Lolo and

Charles were not all that happy.

“Well, Igwe. A frog does not run in vain in the

afternoon. It is either it is after something or

something is after it” Onowu Akabueze said as

the laughter died down

“That’s It!!” The elders exclaimed hitting sticks

with the Onowu

“Before we proceed on what brought us here

Igwe. Onochie, your Son and the heir apparent

is not here Igwe” Onowu wisely introduced

their mission and Igwe understood that Lolo

really meant what she said about telling the

Elders in council and he looked at Lolo whose

face was not bright at all…
