My heart was pounding, my breath was seizing, my body was shaking , I was panicking, my shadow was no where to be found around the compound. As I stood to face karasco .

” What are you doing in my house? Who showed you my house Mr-man ?” Karasco asked wrathfully.

” Who among you opened my gate to this thing , this lizard, this bad luck , who ? He asked his soldier boys .

” Oga , wanlahi , they came and say they know you and that you are expecting them ,that was why we opened the gate for them wanlahi oga” one of the soldier replied.

Just then karasco rushed him landed him a slapped and collected a gun from one of the soldier and pointed it on my four head.

” I swear to my mother’s grave , if you don’t leave my house this very minutes I swear I will blow your head off, and nothing will happen , not even the president can do anything about it. The man you see standing in front of you is nothing but money. I have made money that can take care of the whole city for years without running broke . So now leave my house this minute?” Karasco shouted to the top of his voice .

” Karasco this is your friend, you have to forgive him . He might have wrong you in one way or the other but you just have to forgive him ” Ada pleaded on my behalf.

Karasco heaved a sign and was still pointing the AKA 47 at me . My body was shaking , my spirit was dead already for fear , my shadow left me and hanged himself on a pole . ” God if I die today abeg forgive me for all my sins ” I prayed in silent.

” Ada , Amara is upstairs , you can go and see her let me talk to my friend a little ” karasco spoke, as he brought down the gun at me.

I watched Ada walked in to karasco’s multimillionaires Manson. He has many cars , he compound was filled with cars like a car stand .

I was still on my knees on the ground , I was about getting up when karasco shouted ;

” Who asked you to get up ”

“I thought you have forgiven me ?” I asked in fear .

” Forgive you just like that ? Never . Now listen to me very clearly , I don’t want to ever see you in my compound or anywhere around my house . For if I do, anything that happens to you , you find yourself to blame ”

” Am sorry brother , you know you are my only friend, I promise I will be obedient to you. Am sorry ” I pleaded.

” Sorry for yourself. Guys throw the he-goat out of my compound . If I find him anywhere around my compound or my gate you all will lose your job” he spoke in apoplectic.

The soldiers men dragged me to the gate booting and slapping my head . I was sweating as blood kept rushing from my nose .

” Carry your wahala de go . If we ever see you here again ,I swear we go shoot you and nothing go happen, shey you hear weting boss talk , so be careful. Oya get up and start running , for your life ” one of the soldiers shouted .

I got up from the floor and started running for my dear life . I was bleeding badly had no place to go to cause I had no one in the city .

“Going back to the village will be a total waist of time ” I thought to myself.

I stopped a bus and landed at the park, cleaning the blood stain on my clothes when someone tapped me from behind . I turned and discovered that it was oga landlord.

” You de mad . you done run, run, run I done catch you today . You have refused to pay my house rent for five good years . See , this world na very small world . You have to pay me my money now or I will get you arrested ” the landlord sparked in anger .

I was flummoxed, as I began to think of what to tell the landlord when his phone began to rang . He picked the call and went aside to answer the call . I immediately dodged to the back of the old bus parked there and started running far away from him .

That night I slept in an old bus at the park which the next morning I decided to land back to the village with my bag.

I touched my pocket but couldn’t find my phone . ” Where could I have kept it I said to myself”

I was worried as I began to think where to get Ada’s contact and what I will tell Grandpa brought me back home .

I knocked on the gate and grandma answered. ” Who is there ?”. I kept quit cause I was scared and ashamed .

She came and opened the door and said ; ” ha, Daniel, I thought you left this village two days ago , why are you back this early ?” She asked in amazement.

” Grandma , as you can see, am very tired, I need some rest now . when am done resting I will come and gisting you everything you need to hear ” I replied .

” Bring your bag let me help you with it ” she replied .

” Where is grandpa ” I asked .

” Hmmm, your grandpa has gone to the igwe’s palace for a meeting . They said they want to rebuild the only village bridge that collapse since last year. Am sure he will soon be back by now ” Grandma replied .

Just then Grandpa walked in. He was astonished the very moment he saw me .

” Thank God you are back . I am just coming back from the igwe’s palace for a meeting . Take here , it’s what the elders has asked me to give you, it’s for your own contribution to the village bridge . Since you are now a man . You have went round the village, telling the whole young girls that you are working in an oil company now they are expecting your contribution before months end” grandpa spoke in anger .

I opened the envelope gently ..

” one millionaire? ” I ranted .

” Grandpa, where are they expecting me to get this kind of money ? ” I asked in amazement.

” I don’t know for you . I tried to warn you about the fake life you are living but you wouldn’t listen, now is your cross carry it alone ” grandpa spoke and find his way out .

“Where will I get a millionaire to pay for something I didn’t break down ” I thought to myself in anger .
