I heard grandpa ranting my name but i kept quiet cause I knew what the call was all about . So when the old man has left , I was inside the compound by the tree thinking about my life when I sighted grandpa and grandma approaching towards me .

At that point my heart beat was making a thunderious sound for fear . I was about taking the back door when grandpa shouted ;

” Hey , hey stop there . Where do you think you are going to ?”

” ehn, actually I was about about going to unplug my phone ” I replied .

” Shut, that dirty mouth of yours . So you have started telling lies on my head? I can’t believe it . Have you ever in your useless life seeing ten millionaire before ? When did you give me ten millionaire mr-man answer me I am talking to you “. Grandpa asked in annoyance.

” Grandpa I didn’t tell him I gave you ten millionaire . I only told him that when I grow up, I want to be working in an oil and gas company so that when I make money I will send some money to you like ten millionaire to rebuild this house . I didn’t say I gave you ten millionaire ooh , maybe that man is having ear problem”

Just then Grandpa hissed and walked away .

” Daniel what is wrong with you ? Do you want to kill us before our time ? Your grandpa has been having sleepless night ever since you came to the village to stay with us , it’s always one problem to another none stop problem Daniel don’t you get tired ? dont you feel ashame of yourself? You have been lying to people that you have money this and that how much do you have ? The last time I asked you for common hundred naira you said you don’t have . Ben change , change , change oooh ” Grandma clamored, and left my presence wearing a sad look.

Few months later I was sweeping my room when I came across a card under the bed , I looked at it .

” This is Ada’s card ” I said to myself . I have been looking for it for long but God so kind I found it .

I was happy as I started jubilating ready to place a call to her . I brought out my phone that afternoon and called her line. it was ringing but she wasn’t picking at it .

“Why is she not answering her calls ” I thought to myself and hanged up the call.

I was eating my pounded yam and egusi soup when my phone began to ring . It was a new number calling . ” Who could this be? I asked myself in astonishment.

I picked up the call twisting my voice like that of a big man . ” Hello, who am I on to?”

” You called my MTN line some minutes ago , this is my second line and you are speaking to Ada okoro . Who am I speaking with please?” she asked in a seductive voice .

After all the warning grandma had warned me about telling lies I decided to open up to her .

“Its me Daniel. we met at the village market some months back with my friend karasco ”

” Oh, oh, Daniel the oil and gas right ?” She asked in amazement.

” I have been looking round village for you but couldn’t find you simply because I don’t have your contact ” she added .

” Ooh, am so sorry for that , I have been busy that’s why you haven’t been seeing me around ” I replied.

“Ok ,why not meet me at the football field right now. Am done doing what am doing I am missing you like seriously ” she spoke in a romantic voice .

” I will be there in no time am on my way ” I replied her, before she ended her call .

I rushed to the bathroom and took my bath , i went in and dressed up with my black native wear looking like a governor’s son .

As I was stepping out I saw grandpa standing by the gate. He took a glanced at my wears and said; .

” Where are you going dressed like someone that has money ? ”

Telling Grandpa where I was heading to, might be a total disaster . I didn’t want to lie but I had to, to get a gate pass .

” Grandpa, that job I told you I applied online , they called me for an interview which I didn’t want to go looking dirty . I wanted telling you yesterday but you were not in good mood that was why I didn’t bother you at all “.

Grandpa heaved a sign and said ; ” hmmm, I pray the interview place is where you are going to ” he said, and went inside the house .

I stopped Keke and landed at the football field as planned .

” You kept me waiting ” Ada spoke angrily hitting my chest so hard .

” Am so , so sorry it was my grandpa that kept me ” I replied in a cool manner .

” You are looking more handsome than the first time we met ” she spoke , as she held my hands tight to hers .

“What about your friend Amara ” I asked .

” Hmmm, I should be the one asking you about her .”

” What do you mean by you should be the one asking me about her ? I asked in amazement.

” Ada is now in the city with your billionaire friend karasco. He came to the village last week and was dashing out money to people like a politician contesting for a sit of governor. He even transferred a millionaire to my account ”

At that point I became speechless I couldn’t talk anymore .

” Why are you mute ? Is everything ok ” Ada asked .

“Yes am fine . But wait a minute do you mean my friend karasco ? ” I asked in amazement.

” Yes just that he has changed a lot am still contemplating , but am sure he was the one ” she added .

“I think I have to be on my way home like right now , I will give you a call once am home ”

“Are you sure everything is ok ” Ada asked .

” Am fine ” I replied her and find my way home .

That night I couldn’t sleep as I kept on trying karasco’s number but they kept on telling me is not available .

I was washing Grandpa’s car the next morning when grandpa came and stood at my back .

” Good Morning grandpa” I greeted him wearing a smiling face . But grandpa didn’t answer instead he kept on glancing at me .

” Grandpa , hope all is fine ” I asked .

Grandpa heaved a sign and said ; “why will everything be alright when all you do is to lie and lie and lie . You are a bloody liar Ben. Yesterday I was coming back from the igwe’s palace I saw your friend on a convoy with tight security men around him . I didn’t know he was the one untill he asked one of his boys to call me . Which he gave me two hundred thousand naira and drove away”.

I was surprised and shocked at the same time . ” Grandpa did he asked of me ” I asked in astonishment .

“He didn’t . Your friend has made money you are here washing your Grandpa’s car. When will you wash your own car Ben? He asked , nodding his head and left .

” Karasco a millionaire dashing money ? on a convoy ? how is that possible ? How did he just blow over night ? ” I thought to myself .

Some weeks laster I decided to go and see Ada if she could help me with Amara’s number so I could get to my friend karasco . I went to her house in the evening Time she came out and was surprised seeing me.

” I have something to tell you Ada, the person you see standing is a broker , I don’t work in any oil and gas company . I actually lied to get you girls attention the very first time we met. Am so, sorry i lied ”

She heaved a sign and looked me in the eyes and said ; ” I knew” my heart beat, beat faster as it should when she said she knew .

” Since when did you noticed ” I asked in amazement.

“Anyways your friend karasco came back that very day and told me everything. He said he likes me but I told him I have started liking you already which I advised him to go for Amara my friend, if not I would’ve been the one in the city with him ” she smiles and hugged me very tight .

” Why is your heart beating fast?” She asked .

” Am just surprise ,you said you love me ” I replied .

“Anyways can you please help me with Ada’s number so I could get to my friend karasco ? Because the one I have is not going through ” .

” Hmmm, I have his number here with me. But he said I shouldn’t give you his number . That what you did to him is something he will never forget. Because I heard him saying something like chased him away, I didn’t just get it clear. So tell me, what did you did to him?” She asked .

” He went on telling Grandpa things I did and things I didn’t do , so I got angry and asked him to leave ” I replied .

” What you did was wrong , you should’ve forgiven him . Anyways, I will be going to the city next week to see Amara , she asked me to come , I don’t know if you would love to go with me ? She asked .

” I will love to, but karasco”

” He is your friend , you guys will sort it out when you get to the city . Is getting late I have to go. Have here , is just hundred thousand naira use it to take care of yourself for me , I love you ” Ada spoke in a seductive voice and planted a deep kiss to my lips.

I collected the money in amazement and watched as she walked home .

The following week I told Grandpa and Grandma that I will be traveling to the city to see karasco which they didn’t argue . Seems like grandpa has been praying for me to leave the village . Cause I noticed he was excited .

Ada and I landed in the city .

” Are you sure you know his house ?” I asked Ada.

” Yes, she said number 18 light street. Am sure that must be the house over there ” she replied .

” Jesus Christ is God!! what kind of a house is this ? This house is too big , are you sure this is karasco’s house ? I asked in astonishment.

We knocked on the gate then three soldier men came out with a raffle each on their hands . one of them asked ; ” who una de look for?”

” Ehn, we are looking for the owner of this house his name is karasco ” I replied.

” Do you have an appointment with him ? ” One of the soldiers asked .

” Oh, we do , his girlfriend is my friend she asked us to come” Ada replied .

“Make una wait here make we call am ” .

They placed a call at him some minutes later we were outside waiting when I heard his voice . ” Who did you say is looking for me ” karasco asked .

” ” Oga see them here “”
