PREVIOUSLY ON REINCARNATION

“Go get me an alligator pepper”. He instructed in a calm voice and his wife hurried to her hut and was out moments later with an alligator pepper.

“Put some portion in my mouth”. He told her and she obliged. “Cut the ropes”. He instructed.

This time, it was easy to cut the ropes with the knife, after she was done cutting the ropes, he hurried into his hut and took his charms, then made his way to Oshimiri’s shrine.

CONTINUATION

Dinta regained consciousness same the cobra regained it’s strength; but could not make much moves due to injuries sustained from Dinta’s matchette. Oshimiri could not make any further moves, because Dinta still had the upper hand. Oshimiri, once again, knowing that he was in danger pleaded with Dinta.

“Dinta, can you please cut the tail of the cobra?” He asked cunningly, knowing that if the tail of the cobra is cut, it would make it more aggressive.

“You have deceived me once, I won’t let you deceive me again. You are evil Oshimiri and evil people like you do not deserve to live”. He replied him.

Oshimiri was more concerned with Dinta not cutting off the head of his cobra, thinking it would take Olamma sometime before she regains consciousness. Unfortunately for him, the white clay with Olamma was powerful enough to neutralize the potency of his powdered charm. It only weakened her for few minutes and she regained consciousness almost immediately.

Dinta could clearly see Olamma, but not Oshimiri who was backing her.

Dike ran very fast to make it to Oshimiri’s shrine, knowing that an end to Oshimiri, means an end to him. If Oshimiri is killed, then Dinta would have little or nothing to do, Oshimiri was the source of his powers.

Dinta looked at Olamma and she signalled him to chop off the head of the cobra, she knew Oshimiri was plotting something else. And if Dike had arrived before the cobra was killed, they would have had upper hands, because of the ogbanje charms with him.

The cobra, haven regained it’s strength a little spat at Dinta, using the only strength it had at the time. But Dinta was quick to hide his face from the spit of the cobra, he quickly got hold of his machette and chopped off the head of the cobra before Oshimiri knew it, his cobra’s head was already on the ground. He went down with his knees with no strength in him anymore, Olamma ordered Dinta to chop off his head as well and Dinta did as he was told. And that was the end of Oshimiri.

Dinta felt a huge sigh of relief as Olamma smiled so sweetly showing off her dimples.

“You are free my son, your worries are over”. She told Dinta smiling.

“What about Dike, he too needs to be killed”. Dike replied her.

“Dike has been taken care off, on your way home; you would find him along the bush path leading to Oshimiri’s shrine, chop off his head and go home. Rejoice and be glad my son, you can now live your normal life again”. She told him.

“Thank you nne (mother), you have truly been a wonderful mother. This day, I would not forget in a hurry”.

“When you get home Dinta, in the hut you call Olamma’s hut is the hut I was buried alive with you in our first world. You made no mistake choosing to be Olamma’s hut, for me to finally have my peaceful rest; kill a white c--k and sprinkle it’s blood at the four corners of the hut and also it’s center. The center of it was where we were buried, do this and my spirit shall be at rest”.

“I will do as you have said mother, I hope Olamma stays this time?”. He asked and Olamma laughed.

“Do as I have commanded Dinta, all is peaceful now. In the first world, I was your mother and now your daughter. I shall have my peaceful rest now that all is settled, Olamma will stay to take care of other children you would give birth to in the future. Your next child will be a male, he will continue the lineage of your father. Go home my son to be with your good wife and daughter, the battle is over”. She told him smiling, Dike got up and walked towards her to give her a hug, but felt emptiness yet she was standing before him.

“You cannot feel me my son, I am no longer here with you. You can only feel me through Olamma your daughter, go home my son. But do not forget to do what I asked you to do with Dike”. She told him and vanished, Dike; full of excitement made his way through the bush path.

BUSH PATH

Dike was still a little far away from getting to the shrine, felt sharp pain in his eyes that made him lost his sight. He fell on the ground and could not find his way to Oshimiri’s shrine, he threw away the charms with him and crawled through the bush path, but he could not make his way through. He crawled very far away from his charms.

“Oshimiri eehh”. He shouted. “Could this be my end? Olamma and Dinta needs to be taken off the way. Oshimiri, please show up and take me to your shrine. I know you can make me see again”. He said to himself and he heard footsteps.

“Oshimiri, is that you?”. He asked.

“It is me Dinta”. He answered.

“May the gods be praised, you are here right on time Dinta my good friend. Please take me home”. He pleaded.

“Okay Dike my good friend”. Dinta responded to him and went close, while Dike was stretching forth his hand for Dinta to help him; he (Dinta) used his matchette and chopped off his head. “In my next world, I would not have a friend like you. You are evil Dike, rest in pieces”. Dinta said and walked home.

His wife welcomed him with joy and served him a good meal after he had taken his bath. When he was done eating, he went into Olamma’s hut and did exactly as he was instructed. He lived peacefully afterwards with his wife and Olamma, he had many more children several years after, both male and female. Olamma lived to be a good daughter and sister to her siblings, she got married when she turned eighteen and gave Dinta grandchildren.

Dinta lived many more years a successful man and died at a very good old age. His wife mourned him with his children and he was given a befitting burial.

His first son was also named Dinta, he carried the legacy of his father and great grandfather. Generations after him lived a very successful life even till date.
