I was surprised and shocked when I saw Cynthia, she had totally transformed into an all-out attractive lady, I tried to compare her past self and the present one, she sure had gone through a lot of change. D--n!

Johnson Hi, Cynthia….. Long time.

Cynthia Yes… Long time, you sure look manly now.

Johnson I would say the same for you, you sure are a knock out.

Cynthia (blushing) thank you… So you need a lift?

Johnson Sure

At first I wanted to say no! Besides the car she was riding was worth millions, whoever her boyfriend is, he sure is a wealthy bastard and I’m sure he’s getting his money’s worth, but considering how dark and lonely the streets were I decided to get into the car.

As son as I entered, Cynthia zoomed off with the car, we drove in silence not talking to each other but I couldn’t help but glance at her, Oboi she was more beautiful than ever her assets were sure secured and in place, she wore a cool medicated glass which looked so good on her, she wore a nice Gucci watch and the fragrance around her was so tempting.

Cynthia So while you’re busy stealing glances at me,… Can you tell me where you’re heading to?

Johnson What? I wasn’t…. I mean..

Cynthia (laughing) don’t worry, I won’t bite.

Jesus! When did this girl get so much confidence like this? Back in secondary school, she could barely look me in the eye. The more I try to figure her out, the more confused and surprised I get..

Johnson My stop will be at Toyin street.

Cynthia Okay….

Johnson So… When did you return?

Cynthia Two weeks ago.

Johnson Wow!

Cynthia I wanted to call you but I was busy trying to settle down.

Johnson So what kind of work do you do?

Cynthia Oh, I work in the ministry of foreign affairs, like an ambassador.

Johnson What? How did you get a job like that?

Cynthia One of my friends got me the job. She is really connected..

Johnson I see.

Cynthia So how about you?

Johnson Oh I work as a manager in a company.

Cynthia Wow, that’s great.

I felt ashamed lying to her face like that, besides any one would do that, how could I tell her I was a just a civil servant, I had to make myself look a little bit more…. Outstanding. There was no way I could reach her standards now, that she is working in the ministry of foreign affairs, cause that place pays a lot of money.

We soon arrived at Toyin street, as I was about to get off, Cynthia offered to drive me home, I refused but she insisted, I reluctantly agreed for her to drive me there, we soon reached my place, as soon as her car parked, I came down and thanked her for the ride.

Johnson Thank you for the lift.

Cynthia No problem… Its good seeing you again Johnson.

Johnson Same here.

Cynthia Can we meet again some time? Perhaps for a date?

Johnson Uhh, I’ll be busy this week so…. I won’t be free most of the time.

Cynthia Oh…

Johnson But I’ll call you to let you know. Good night.

Cynthia Oh…. Okay…. good night.

Cynthia revved her car and drove off leaving behind a huge puff of smoke.

It was a good thing, I lied about being busy this week, I didn’t know why I was being awkward towards her like this but as far as I know, she’s not in my league, and going on a date would never work, cause I’m not sure this Cynthia is the same Cynthia as before, the former Cynthia was quiet and humble but this one was too confident and too proud, maybe deleting her number would be a good idea.

As I was about to enter my house, I noticed a guy taking off with great speed as if he had being chased, I was surprised cause why would he run like that, except if he’s in trouble or a…. Thief?

I knocked at the door hard to see if anything was wrong with Aline, just then the door opened, Aline sure looked rough but on the face she was sleeping.

Aline (Yawning) Baby, you’re back?

Johnson Are you okay?

Aline Sure why do you ask?

Johnson I just saw a man running off, I thought maybe he was thief.

Aline Don’t worry love, you worry too much.

Aline dragged me in and locked the door, as I went in, the place looked rough, there was the smell of chicken and chips and two glass cups on the table.

Did Aline invite someone while I was at work? I turned around as looked at her again and saw she was really sweating, and the odd thing was there was light… I went into the bedroom and check to see if there was anything suspicious i could find but there was nothing, as I was about to turn around, I saw a wallet on the bed, I went and took the wallet to see who’s it belongs to as I opened the wallet, a condom fell out of it, I was surprised and shocked, who’s wallet was this and why is it in my bedroom?

In that moment of shock, Aline walked in and was surprised to see the condom in my hands.

At first she looked afraid but she maintained her cool.

Johnson Aline?

Aline. Yes?

Johnson What is this?

Aline Oh that, its Winston’s.

Johnson Winston’s?

Aline Yes.

Johnson So you guys were……

Aline No, no, don’t get the wrong idea, he forgot his wallet on the couch as he fell this place drunk. (Laughing) We didn’t have sex, God forbid, we’re cousins, remember?

Johnson Sorry for the wrong assumption.

Aline Don’t worry, just have a nice warm bath and come bed.

The next Morning at work, I couldn’t think about work, I was just contemplating what happened last night.

It may be true, Winston forgot his wallet but something doesn’t sound right, I went to the fridge this morning only to discover the bottle of beer I kept was untouched, so how did he get drunk? And this sweat on Aline’s body still doesn’t make any sense, how can she be sweating, when there’s an air conditioner and a running fan?

All this thoughts ran through my head, I knew she was cheating but sometimes jumping into the wrong conclusions leads to termination of a relationship.

As I was deep in thought, Wale came and interrupted me.

Wale Bros, how far? Wetin dey worry you?

Johnson Na something I dey think of.

Wale Na wetin?

I told wale about everything that happened last night except the Cynthia part, as soon as I was done, the fool slammed his hand on my desk.

Wale That b---h dey shank her cousin!

Johnson Bros, we don’t know that yet.

Wale Bros, this na proof na, condom on your bed, the b---h dey sweat for inside A.C and before you enter, the mumu scatter run.

Johnson Look, I no go jump into conclusion, I go find out myself.

Just as we were talking, Cynthia’s number appeared on my phone, I refused to pick the call, Wale insisted that I picked the call but I refused, as soon as the call was over, I placed my phone into flight mode .

Wale Why you know want pick the call?

Johnson Na nothing important.

Wale You dey lie… na who dey call you?

Johnson Kai this guy you too dey disturb.

Wale Abeg answer question!

Johnson Na my former secondary school Ex, Cynthia.

Wale Your ex, una break up?

Johnson Yes, but the reason na because she don travel overseas to study.

Wale So?

I told him everything about Cynthia and what happened between us last night, Wale laughed as he heard my story, I waited to see how he was going to say about it.

Wale Guy, wetin dey worry you? Besides wetin the girl do you? You dey angry say she get better job and life pass you? Or you dey vex say the reason why she dey enjoy na because rich men dey pound her toto? Is that it? (Laughs)

Johnson Bros, you dey mad! I no wan talk to am, that’s all.

Wale Abeg na lie jare! See talk to this your ex, just because she upgrade no be say she go treat you somehow and besides why she go do that? You don treat am with respect before and she’s likely to return the favour.

Johnson Guy naija babes are all the same.

Wale True but na naija babe give you lift back home and even dey set up date, see not all get bad habit, some get sense. Abeg talk to am, besides you dey lucky woman of that standard dey chase you mumu. Go talk to am before you regret doing something stupid!

After that Wale left, and he was right, the way I was treating Cynthia was unfair and stupid, and its not good to pay her back like this, I remembered when she used to help me with my assignments back in secondary school and helps tutor me sometimes.

I’ve let my jealousy make a fool out of me, so I turned off the flight mode and called Cynthia, it rang for some times and there was no reply.

I dropped my phone and went to the toilet cause I was feeling pressed!

After that, I returned to my office only to find out Aline in there talking to someone on my phone.

Aline You b---h, don’t ever call my fiances number again. Bye (drops phone)

Johnson Aline, who are you talking to?

Aline Some b---h named Cynthia, she was trying to talk to you. So I told her a piece of my mind.

Johnson Are you mad? She’s a friend of mine, not some w---e. What have you done? And who asked you to pick my phone?

Aline Hush darling, I have no restrictions to my fiances phone.

Johnson For your info. We’re not engaged and stop calling me your fiance. If you don’t mind I would like you to get out of my office.

Aline You’re sending me out? Me?

Aline left without saying a word, I took my phone and tried Cynthia’s number but she wasn’t answering, I kept calling and calling but there was no reply, in the end her phone was switched off!

This was messed up, I turned her down, Aline insulted her and now I don’t know where she is, to apologize to her!

This time, i really f----d up….. Really bad.
