I knew it was Pebbles because I knew her voice and I could recognise it where ever I hear it.

I opened the door and I was wrong.

It was the landlady together with his son,brother Augustine who stood behind her.

They brought words that a tenant’s money
got missing last Saturday when Lucy was sleeping in my room.

The money was 500gh.

A boy about eleven years old whose name they did not mention proclaimed he saw Lucy come out from the landlady’s son’s room so they came
to ask her whether she entered that particular room the child confirmed she saw her coming out from.

The landlady started saying all sort of words.

The very one which provoked me the most was when she said,nobody’s money had been stolen for the past three months.

In actual sense,she was referring to Lucy to be a thief which annoyed me the most.I turned to see Lucy crying and I was short of words.

I knew she was never a thief.

“I even left about 1000GH on the center table the previous day before the incident happened which was on Friday.

I was to send money for my
uncle but because I was in a hurry I forgot the money on the center table.

This same thief you are referring to took the money and brought it to me at the bank
where I was to send the money to my Uncle,so if she was a thief,would she had returned it”,Biggie asked the landlady.

“For that we cannot tell,but what I can recall is that for the past three months and over,we have never recorded such theft case in this
house so we came to ask her what exactly she was doing in that room,that moment.

I asked them to come inside the room and ask her themselves.

They entered and sat on the couch.

” Eeerrrhhmmm,Sister Lucy, we’ve recorded a theft case the very Saturday a boy in this house said he saw u coming from my room and
we are here to find out if it was true you entered my room that godforsaken saturday”,Brother Augustine,the landlady’s son asked.

“Brother,it is true I went to your doorstep but I swear with my life that I never entered your room that Saturday.

We all know the toilet keys are
hunged on a nail in front of your doorstep,so I went for the keys but never entered your room” Lucy explained in tears.
“May I ask a question please,can you bring the boy here for me to ask him this question,Biggie asked.

” No,we won’t bring any boy for you to threaten,I have spoken,the landlady responded angrily…..
