“Can I at least put my shoes on?” Kate spluttered as she stumbled along behind the taller male, her shoes hanging loosely in her hands.

They were nearly through the main doors when a voice called out, calling Kate’s name and causing Loki to stop suddenly, Kate crashing into the back of him with a soft ‘oof!’

“Lady Kate?” it was Laura. She hurriedly made her way over to her, her expression holding a mixture of confusion and protectiveness, ready to intervene if Kate was in any trouble.

“Oh, Laura”, Kate said as she managed to tug her wrist from Loki’s grasp as she turned to face her childhood friend, straightening her clothes subconsciously “Sorry, but I have other plans made for today”.

“Oh”, Laura said in slight surprise as her stunning red eyes flickered over to Loki, who of which was standing a little off to side, Smiling away like everything was right in the world. Laura didn’t look as concerned as she was before. Only slightly curious. “And who is this?”

“Ah, this is Loki. He’s……going to help me with something”. Kate said as she turned her posture to be a little more open. Indicating to Loki that he was welcome to speak if he wanted, not that the man seemed to need a signal to do anything “Loki, this is my friend, Laura”.

Loki took a moment to run his eyes over the Fire Priestess, no doubt taking his time to admire the Lady’s natural beauty, as was common practice when meeting Laura for the first time. He then grinned widely, almost as if he was pleased with something and took a few large stride forward, moving to stand directly in front of Laura where he once again forgot all social etiquette by snaring Laura’s lithe hand in his and giving her a friendly shake.

“Please to meet you!”

“Oh, you as well” Laura politely returned the greeting automatically, her other hand flying up to her bust in surprise, clearly taken aback by the man’s boldness and enthusiam. She, however, didn’t look all that displeased. She looked slightly amused, actually.

She then tilted her head to the side in question, her hands still within Loki’s grasp. “I’m sorry, have we met somewhere before?” she asked suddenly, shaking her head in little in thought. “You feel familiar”.

How strange. Kate felt a sense of Familiarity from him upon first meeting as well. If Laura had met this man before, then surely Kate would have as well.

“Hmm, no I don’t think so”, Loki said after a moment of thought, his smile dropping to be replaced by an impression of thought. However, his hand was still holding Laura’s, even as the beautiful Fire Priestess subtly tugged at his hand to let go.

Suddenly, Loki’s broad carefree smile returned and he gave Luara a playful wink. “I think I would remember a rare beauty like you!”

Immediately, Laura blushed a deep red, almost the same colour as her eyes and she uncharacteristically stuttered. “Oh, I….ah….”

Kate had to admit to herself that she felt a brief sense of hurt at the compliment. Sure, she heard many an individual compliment Luara on her beauty and natural abilities, but this time it felt different. She felt disappointed that, perhaps, Loki would become more interested in Laura instead of her now.

Well, it was nice while it lasted.

Loki, however instead of continuing to shower Luara with more flirty remarks, laughed at her expression and dropped his grip on her hand. “Well, I’m a FireBrand, so maybe that’s why”.

“Yes, you might be right”, Laura said as she quickly composed herself,
straightening her posture and returning to the form of an Elegant Fire Priestess. “A FireBrand, huh?”

She took a moment to study Loki, no doubt searching for his intentions as it was a habit she had picked up over the years she and Kate had been friends. After a moment, a gentle smile appeared on her lips and she folded her hands in front of her “Well, it’s good to know that Lady Kate will be safe hands. Please take good care of her”.

Loki gave a mock salute. “Of course!” he said before moving quickly and looping his arm around Kate’s neck, pulling her against his side and playfully poking her on the cheeks as he grinned somewhat impishly. “A little pretty cutie like her shouldn’t walk around all by herself, am I right?”
