Me:” Mark you betrayed me?” I asked in silently in fear while he laughed out.

Mark:” Hey Bro trust me, I can’t do that. Its like Sandra reported you to her about you taking some kind of recorder from her or so, she is also there.” He said while I breathed in relief and made to leave but he drew me back.

Mark:” Gabriel, I have risked everything for you, please Dont let them know I did it” he pleaded while I smiled.

Me:” Mark, I have sorted that part also Dont worry you are free. Just tell them you Dont know anything about the tape if they ask you” I told him.

Mark:” Thanks” he said and went out while I smiled to myself, the end is surely near.
I went into the lab, truly Sandra was also there standing and staring at me.

Me:” You sent for me ma” I said as I entered the lab.

Mrs Jagun:” You are just so daring, why did you collect Sandra’s recorder?” She asked but I kept mute.

Mrs Jagun:” Now go and bring it for me” she said again.

Me:” I misplaced it ma” I told her silently.

Mrs Jagun:” Did I hear you right?”

Me:” Yes ma, I lost it”

Mrs Jagun:” Then you will have to pay for it, because that is the recorder the proprietor bought for us to use as evidence against bad students” she said.

Me:” Did he ask you to share it to the students so that they could use it and implicate themselves?” I asked her while she opened her eyes wide.

Mrs Jagun:” You are so rude, in case you are forgetting something, I am still your teacher” she said.

Mrs Jagun:” You are not even afraid, do you know what Sandra’s dad can do if he founds out about your misbehavior toward his daughter?”

Me:” Do you also know what my dad can do if he..”

Mrs Jagun:” Shut up, who is your God forsaking father?” She asked.

Me:” A nobody” I replied her smiling.

Mrs Jagun:” Sandra go and get me my cane from Mrs Jones.”

Sandra:” Am tired Ma, send someone else” she said rudely but I wasn’t surprised.

Mrs Jagun:” OK, you yourself, go to Mrs Jones and collect my cane” she ordered while I left smiling, ” Enjoy the few time you have left Mrs Jagun” I thought to myself.

I fetched the cane from Mrs Jones and brought it to Mrs Jagun, she gave me five stroke of the cane on my hand and then dismissed me.

Mrs Jagun:” You must bring that recorder tomorrow” she said as I walked out.

====> I didn’t go for break on this particular Monday, not that I was sick or wasnt hungry, my mission just wasn’t complete. Everyone went out leaving I alone in class, I smiled to myself as I did what I was to do and stood up to go out, I opened my bag and took out the recorder I had taken from Sandra some days ago. ” Its mission accomplished ” I thought smiling as I walked out to search for Charles. Charles was on the school field sitting on a log of wood.

Me:” Charles the man” I saluted.

Charles:” Gabi, how far”

Me:” Am fine” I replied him

Me:” Take this recorder, I took it from Sandra, it has a new memory card in it, use it to get words from Mrs Jagun mouth, that is the final part of my plan”.

Charles:” How do you mean get words from Mrs Jagun mouth, do you want to get me in trouble?”

Me: ” The recorders have been stolen ” I said while he sprang up smiling.

Charles:” Wait you mean you are with it now?” He asked me smiling.

Me:” Shhhh, Dont shout, just wait outside the school back gate today, I will bring them to you” I said to him.

Charles:” Thanks Man ” he said hugging me.

Me:” But Dont go to her yet until it has been announced publicly that the recorders are missing, when you go, take the recorder she gave you along because she might ask you to return it back, that why I gave you this one so that you will be able to record her with it.” I said to him.

Charles:” But wait Gabriel, you stealing the recorder might implicate Mark the lab prefect ” he said with a pitiful eye.

Me:” Trust me Charles, I have taken care of that. Let me go now before they see us together, take care of that recorder o ” I said to him and bounced away. I then went to Akpan to discuss with him, he was now in class.

Akpan:” Virus! I hail o” he said while I smiled.

Me:” Akpan, my winger.”

Akpan: ” Any news?” He asked while I whispered something to his ear.

Akpan:” wait, you mean you have stolen the recorders?” He asked.

Me:” Shhhh, meet me at the back gate after school today. ”

Akpan:” Charles will be so happy to hear this, now he is free” he said but I was already walking out. I met Joy by the door she was just coming into the class.

Joy:” My guy, the virus ” she greeted

Me:” My lady the bacteria” I replied her and she smiled.

Joy:” I didn’t see you in the canteen so I came looking for you, let’s go and eat” she said drawing by hand.

Me:” Ehya, so you love me that much?”

Joy:” I love you more than that dear, abeg let’s go, hunger wan kill me die” she said in pidgin.

Me:” Am actually just hearing you speak pidgin” I said while she smiled.

Joy:” When hunger knack you ehh” she said again while I laughed and followed her to the canteen.

===> Joy:” So you mean you have freed Charles”

Me:” But am not done ” I said to her.

Joy:” What else again?”

Me:” I want to finish the principal, Mrs Jagun and Sandra.” I said

Joy:” How do you plan doing that?” She asked while I smiled .

Me:” I just need Charles to help me get words from Mrs Jagun’s mouth, I can use that to implicate she and the Principal” I said to her.

Joy:” Then how do you intend implicating Sandra?” She asked as I picked an orange from her side of the table, she eyed me but didn’t stop me.

Me:” Sandra has already been implicated” I said while she gazed at me.

Joy:” How?”

Me:” I can’t tell you now, I want it to be a surprise” I said to her.

Joy:” OK let me just watch and see ” she said and I nodded while we ate our food in silence. We finished the food and I quickly rushed back to class, I remembered I kept the recorders in my bag, what if one of the students opened my bag and saw it? I rushed down to the class, it was still break. I opened the bag and thank God it was still there. I carried my bag and went to the school field, no one was there. I the hid the recorders under the long wood, I hid it in a manner that it won’t be damaged, and then I went back to the main school compound.I was Just entering the class when the break over bell came. I took my sit as I awaited what was to happen. The bell came again after about a minute later.

Time keeper: ” Assembly time” he shouted as the school started murmuring, I myself also joined in the murmur, all the students except I were confused on why an assembly is about to hold. We all walked out to the assembly ground only to meet the principal and Mrs Jagun on the assembly ground.

Principal: ” Something terrible has happened, our investigation Recorders has been stolen” he said while the student started murmuring again, some students didn’t even know what he was talking about, only the seniors and few juniors knew.

Principal:” Where is the lab prefect Mark?” He asked as Mark walked forward to the platform, he was looking calm and innocent.
